Feral children

Several children, have been arrested in connection with the death of an 80 year old dog walker.

What is wrong with children today? I remember the Bulger case and it sent shockwaves around the world, now people just accept that children kill.

This.

Sociopathy can't be diagnosed in children, doesn't mean it is not there and can't be diagnosed when they grow up, as someone previously said the signs are there. But I'm sure we will soon hear about their difficult childhoods as they get taken out of their secure units for ice cream every week

Posters are already talking above your post about their tough childhood.

Yes, I know some people who have been teachers for decades and they say the biggest difference is parental attitudes to bad behaviour. Virtually all parents used to be mortified if their children behaved badly and would support the school in wanting to do something about it. Nowadays they march up to the school, shouting the odds about 'How dare you say my child has been bad?' or 'How dare you discipline my child?'

I had to let go of a friend partly because I was so sick of her constant complaints about her kids teachers and her repeated attempts to question and challenge them when her children behaved badly and were disciplined.

Then she would be in a rage if she sent an email at say 9am and it wasn’t replied to before the end of the day.

I tried to explain to her teachers workload and the fact they are busy teaching her kids for most of the day and might take a while to get to parent emails, but she wouldn’t really accept it.

She’d even taken to texting me “funny” (rude) things her kids had said to teachers and giggling about it. I did challenge her a few times, but I just got sick of it and realised this was just how she was.

The teenage girl in Cardiff who kicked a gay man to death certainly wasn't ' just there' albeit she acted with two men. ' I fucking needed that ' was her comment in the immediate aftermath.

There are violent and aggressive girls but the crime statistics speak for themselves.

I don't think you can draw any conclusions from a lack of charges yet, it's much too soon.

While boys may be more inclined to violence along, it's not that unusual to see violence from teen girls in groups. There was a group of teen girls in the city I grew up in, when I was in university, who swarmed a number of people over a period of a few months, and several were very seriously assaulted during the swarming.

Leicester police have announced, all the children apart from one 14 year old still in custody, have now been released with no further action.

The victim was a Hindu or Muslim, not Sikh as a photograph released shows a clean shaven man.

There are still many many white people who are racist. They voted for Brexit because of these Asians who many moved to the UK well before 1973. when UK joined the EU (or EEC in those days)

Both parts of "Bhim Kohli" are Hindu names.

And yes, sadly, there will be some unreconstructed racists celebrating "One less P*" tonight.

Blueybanditbingochilli · 03/09/2024 22:45

This will be unpopular but I’ve said for a while now the UK has a serious scum problem, in a way comparable European countries don’t.

Walk through any town (aside from the very posh) and you’ll see topless tattooed men smoking weed as they cycle down the road, shouting obscenities or generally intimidating people. Unkempt children trailing around after disinterested parents who are too busy vaping and arguing to realise they’re there. 3 year olds sat in buggies sucking lollies and fruit shoots at 10am. People either mentally ill or off their face on drugs, or both, staggering about making a nuisance of themselves.

Since we essentially legislated to enable people to breed as much as they want and have the state pick up the tab, we gave the green light to wrong people to have a lot of children, while the ‘right’ people were sensible and stuck at 1 or 2 (or none). After 25 years of such policies we are now seeing the fruits of our bad decision - those children are now adults having their own children, and the parenting is worse than ever.

As a country we are moving towards a place where a small core of hard working people are being drained by a large minority of people with so many ‘needs’ they cost hundreds of thousands a year just to keep out of prison. And they hold us to ransom by saying they would neglect their kids if we don’t just keep throwing cash at them.

A total mess that can only be sorted with some very hardline policies, which will never happen as they would be viewed as human rights violations. So we must sink together.

Like this mother…this story hit me hard last week. I need to turn off the news 😔

I wish I hadn't read the article. Truly horrifying.

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 03/09/2024 22:39

Lots of snobbery and racism on this thread. We don’t know the kids or their families yet. Perhaps we never will.

Just report it-don’t give it the time of day.

Stop trying to exonerate girls from crimes and responsibilities. It's sexist.

Absolutely. There's a poster above who's jumped in already, desperate to be told that the 14 year old is a boy.
The girls were involved. They could have not gone with the boys on what was clearly an intended altercation. They could have walked away from the incident. But they didn't. One might even have been the murderer.

Now I await the 'but they must have been coerced' comments.

Gosh, even if you thought it did you have to insinuate it in black and white? Have some respect for a grieving family.

It seems he was universally loved by his locally community and a wonderful, gentle soul.

There are suggestions that it was the latest in a series of racially aggravated antisocial behaviour towards an elderly, Asian gentleman.

Auburngal · 03/09/2024 22:33

Some parents don't give a shit about their DC's whereabouts. I wasn't allowed to say "out" when my parents said to me where are you going?

I suspect there is a strong correlation between income/class and feralness in children. The less income, the less the parents don't give a shit.

ClockwiseHoneysuckle · 03/09/2024 22:31

Please be careful not to make any assumptions about guilt, people. No-one has been charged yet, let alone convicted, and we do not want to prejudice any trial that may take place.

In my line of work, I can categorically state that inadequate parenting skills are, more often than not, to blame for a child’s poor behaviour. It’s been eye opening and things are deteriorating rapidly. The reality is the people who should be having kids can’t afford to, those that offer little to society are breeding like rabbits. There is no personal responsibility and I agree with others that parents should be responsible for their children up to the age of 18, or risk losing all state benefits, pensions and be subject to community service and/or heavy fines.

As for the typical response of “their parents must be so proud”, their parents don’t care. I used to think differently, not any more. That’s the sad, very sad, reality

I think people get caught up in exceptions.

Of course there are lots of kids brought up badly that end up ok, as basically good people, or sometimes even great.

And there are kids brought up well that have serious inadequacies.

But in general, when you talk about really neglectful uncaring parents, they will produce a larger number of kids who are social problems compared to caring parents. Significantly larger, IMO.

Why is it nauseating? I doubt the parents of those five children were loving attentive parents who instilled firm boundaries and taught their kids empathy. Why, do you think the kids had parents like that but just chose evil? Isn’t that nauseatingly simplistic thinking?

It's nauseating bevause you can predict all the excuses already for their behaviour.

TooMuchOfNothingIsJustAsTough · 03/09/2024 22:28

Even if the culprit is male, that the girls were hanging out with him also says something. Show me your friends and I'd tell you who you are.

I can't imagine my teen dc telling me that their friend has killed someone for the fun of it. That is horrible whether they did it too or not. Stop trying to exonerate girls from crimes and responsibilities. It's sexist.

darksideofthestudio · 03/09/2024 22:26

Icedlatteofdreams · 03/09/2024 20:00

This is a silly view. I absolutely think that if the parents were complicit in behaviour they should be prosecuted but there is grooming, mental health issues and a whole host of other reasons why a child might commit a serious crime and it has nothing to do with the parents.

It’s awful but i don’t know why you think we just accept that children kill nowadays. This has made front page news precisely because it is shocking and horrendous, it’s clear from this thread people see this as horrific, where on earth have you seen this shrugged off as just a thing kids do?

TempestTost · 03/09/2024 22:24

Bellamari · 03/09/2024 22:18

So it’s as I guessed. One murderer and the others were unfortunately there. How much do you want to bet the culprit is male?

I don't think you can draw any conclusions from a lack of charges yet, it's much too soon.

Yep that's how kids used to be parented. A big problem is parents becoming so defensive of their kids these days and believing they can do no wrong. That didn't used to happen where parents automatically took their kids side and made everyone else into the villains. But that's where we're at now. But they always want society to pitch in and help and "it takes a village" with everything else.
