Mine is a white bread bap, butter, salt, vinegar, chips and ketchup. All sorts of rubbish being spouted in my office earlier about salad cream, beans, toasted brioche! How do you do it?

Yanbu- your way is the way
Yabu- there's another way ( enlighten me )

This thread is proper filthy food porn Grin

I'd sell my only child for a chip butty right now

Itsallaloadofbollocks · 02/09/2024 21:42

Same as everyone else on Warburtons or a barm with lots of salt and vinegar.

However (please don't hate me) it must be brown sauce.

Isometimeswonder · 02/09/2024 21:42

Cripes, I do hope these are homemade triple cooked chips, and freshly home-baked organic bread.
And salt is very bad for you, don't you know?
I'm kidding... 😁

Oldfatandfrumpy · 02/09/2024 21:42

White bread, butter (on both slices), chips, salt and either mayonnaise or curry sauce (from the chippy).

If I'm feeling particularly decadent it will be White bread, butter, mayo, chips, salt, curry sauce, butter, white bread

If the stars align, and there are two lids left over in the loaf, they make the perfect foil to a pile of chips -as normal slices just break up under the greasy onslaught of a big pile of chips.

Butter, salt, vinegar. Ketchup. Done.

Proper slavering now.

TuesdayWhistler · 02/09/2024 21:41

Butter some white bread
Hold a slice in me left hand.
Fork a load of chips into.
Fold it shut.
Shove it in me gob.

Vergeofbreakdown23 · 02/09/2024 21:40

Omg what is all this talk about toasted 😱🤣
Bread - any bread. Butter - proper butter. Chips and salt! That's it! 😀

Mum2jenny · 02/09/2024 21:39

Never had one, no intention of trying one ever!

I loathe vinegar and salad cream.

Why would anyone think to put chips(carbs) in a roll/cob/ butty (carbs) and think it was good?

Just no!

HRTQueen · 02/09/2024 21:37

Crusty white roll, butter, chip shop chips with a little vinegar, salt and ketchup (depending on mood)

mommatoone · 02/09/2024 21:37

Ad a lot of PP - Warbies toastie, loads of butter, salt and vinegar. The best chips were those we had as kids that were done in a chip pan. Bloody lovely !

It’s a barm in Liverpool but hey ho!

mine is white sliced bread, proper butter. Loads of salt and vinegar. Nothing more, nothing less.

Perfection 👌🏻
And agreed on barm!

GoogleWhacking · 02/09/2024 21:35

White bread, copious amounts of salted butter, ketchup, salt and vinegar. Delicious

Emotionalsupporthamster · 02/09/2024 21:34

Exactly as you said. In the absence of a roll 2 slices of cheapo supermarket white bread with butter will also do nicely.

Pipersouth · 02/09/2024 21:33

Oh wow I would love someone forever if I could have a chippy version right now!!!

AdaColeman · 02/09/2024 21:33

Thickly sliced white bread, lashings of salted butter, hot home made chips, mayonnaise on the side for dipping. Perfection!

CindyBirdsong · 02/09/2024 21:32

It's a chip barm.

AdviceNeeded2024 · 02/09/2024 21:31

Now I dislike white bread on most occasions, but a beautifully crafted chip butty calls for white bread. Preferable Warburtons toastie thick sliced 😋

Take the bread, slather in butter. Clover or Lurpack if I’m particularly flush. Drown the chips in vinegar on the baking tray, a good dusting of ground rock salt then place on the bread warm to really melt the butter. Ketchup on the side for dipping. If I don’t end up with melted butter down my forearms it’s a failed meal.

notacooldad · 02/09/2024 21:31

I've not had a chip butty in years!!!
I used to white bread, butter and chippy chips.

The only thing I disagree with is "bap" - it's "roll"
Anything else is heresy...
Actually it's a batch!😂

cardibach · 02/09/2024 21:30

2 slices of white bread thickly buttered, salt, vinegar. No sauce.

Two slices of buttered white bread, black pepper, mayonnaise, sprinkle of salt and chips.

Singleandproud · 02/09/2024 21:28

2 x slices of Warburton's toastie, lurpak, chips, salt and vinegar, ketchup same as for a fish finger sandwich.

DaisyChain505 · 02/09/2024 21:27

A buttered bap with chips that have salt and vinegar on with a slice of plastic cheese and curry sauce.
