AIBU to wonder if freezing with liquid nitrogen is the only way to get rid of a wart?

Nearly 40 yrs ago, where I grew up abroad, I saw a dermatologist who used a laser to burn them off my fingers! When you walked into the clinic, it had a rank, smell of burnt, human flesh! His laser had a tiny, red light, and it zapped at the wart and caused a blackened, tiny, burnt dot on the wart. I think I went for 2 session in total and they have never returned!

It sounds like the treatment helped your immune system to recognise the virus.

I had a verruca for over a decade. It eventually disappeared on its own having tried everything!!

Some recon that if you damage/aggravate the area it can help the body to recognise the virus and fight it. I think this is true....disgusting though it may be, I had a wart pop up not far from the verruca, I picked at it and made it bleed, then it cleared up along with the verruca.

Back in the 80s both my brother and I who were at primary school had some smelly stuff from the GP that we smothered our warts with and covered in plasters. It burned them off! But the fun part was seeing the roots (Once a sporner...). They all dropped off in a couple of months. My brother & I were disgusting children who always had our hands in our mouths for something, sucking a thumb, chewing a nail, that kind of thing so it wasn't surprising they spread. I can't tell you want the burning stuff was though. I still bite my nails and I'm knocking 50.

File it with a nail file to take the top off it. Dab with salicylic acid. You can buy a small bottle from the pharmacy. Repeat every other day. It will go away. Works for verrucas too.

And throw in some banana skin.

Was the only think that worked for me and I had tried EVERY other option first

I have something similar for cold sores and it is absolutely magic.

I poked around with a clean needle, saw the roots and made it bleed. I chickened out of trying to pull it out due to the pain but my immune system suddenly realised I had a wart and finally attacked it. No more warts for me😄

Google the Wartabater. I bought one in desperation 10 years or so ago as dd2 had terrible verrucas from swimming that wouldn't go and were causing her to limp. It works brilliantly. I'm not scientific enough to know why but it's an electronic device and you wet the wart/verruca and hold the pen thing on it for 3 mins. If it's bigger than 5mm diameter you treat it in sections for 3 mins at a time. It came from America and cost about £80 at the time. Worked so well I ended up treating friends' kids loads of times! It still works and is bloody brilliant.

My daughter had loads all over the edge of her fingernails and a massive one on the side of one finger. We tried the duct tape on the big one to try it out - we couldn't do all of them as she would have had tape on 8 fingers! It didn't really work but did get a bit smaller, I then tried Salic Acid I had from a verucca treatment I had had previously - didn't seem to be doing much and then all of a sudden they have all vanished! Its really bizarre - it seems attacking 1 has caused the body to evict the lot!

Cover with cotton wool soaked in apple cider vinegar (with the mother). A few days it'll be gone.

I've had one repeatedly treated on my foot, all it did was making it multiply and grow.
Until I gave up and decided to let it be. They started going down in size a year later and were all completely gone within 2 years.

Use an emery board to roughen it then apply duct tape, leave the tape on for 48 hrs, remove, buffer again with the emery board and apply more duct tape. Repeat every day and that'll do the trick! Make sure not to use the emery board for anything else and bin once the wart has gone.

I had it done many many years ago and not in the U.K. (originally from Eastern Europe)
I had it on my big toe and sole of my foot.
First of all it was extremely painful... nothing I can compare it to to give you an idea.Unfortunately that wasn't enough. It disappeared for a bit but had gone back, same spot and much much worse.
Got send to surgeon. Had it cut out in the end....
I won't even go into details because it was like something from horror movie, done there and then not faffing around. Only iodine on my foot, no numbing no nothing🫥 BUT! It was successful 😂

Have a baby!! I had about 9 or 10 over both hands and they went within a few days of giving birth 🤣 10 years and they haven’t been back.
I realise it’s probably not a realistic option though 🤣

My DD had loads of warts on her fingers. We tried freezing lots of times and it never worked. Pharmacist gave us Salactol and they cleared up within a week and have never returned.

My most prestigious job at 18 was running the wart clinic! Getting that flask of liq niteogen ready felt like a lot of responsibility! It really works & imo is the only thing that does, but it takes time. Go as often as offered & it will go.

My son had his treated at a podiatrist who had some really powerful drops (sorry I didn't know what it was called) He mentioned GPs would be unlikely to have it due to cost.

The wart was cut and maybe a couple of drops used. It blistered then healed over. He did it twice. The wart is gone and years later it's never returned. Looking at his foot now there's no sign there was ever a wart there.

I was told by the consultant that the freezing is trying to trigger an immune response, which then means the wart goes away because your immune system has beaten the infection/whatever. He was adamant mine (several on my knuckles) would go after treatment and they didn't. They only went after I left my abusive husband and I stopped being so stressed. I think I had them for about 4 years all in, then one day they went on their own.

Which ones did you choose please?

Tried god knows how many other remedies before that worked!!

DD has had a verruca since before lockdown. We have had every treatment the dr could provide. A private foot health practitioner who came weekly for months and used some treatment alongside a process where she 'needled' it. A second private chiropodist who used liquid nitrogen to freeze it. Some natural healing oil that kept popping up on my Facebook. Banana peel, nail varnish, apple cider vinegar - you name it, we have tried it. None of them worked. It was 4 years and £££'s of money down the drain. Picked up a Scholl wart & verruca pen totally expecting it to be another lost cause and it dropped clean off after 4 weeks 😱

I had a wart on my face for years and have always been conscious of it. I was recommended this summer to a local lady who is an aesthetician. I've never had any kind of cosmetic work done so was nervous but saw before and after photos of her previous work. She came to my house and removed it with a plasma pen tool in about a minute. She explained aftercare to me and said she would return for more treatment for free if it didn't work. A small scab formed and lasted for about a week and now (a month later) there is honestly no trace that the wart was ever there. It's amazing. Cost me £120, totally worth it.
