Collagen supplements (or any others) - do you believe they work?

Having a bit of a health overhaul (or to be more accurate, planning to!) and am wondering whether any of these highly advertised things actually work?

I thought they were worth a bash until I saw someone explain. they basically said how it was impossible for something you ingested in the levels sold to benefit your skin. It made perfect sense when they explained it.
