To think we should all boycott John Lewis until they respect their female employees

This is a letter from a female employee of John Lewis's Cheadle branch. John Lewis told its female employees that they have to share toilets and locker rooms with trans identifying men. The employee says this is having a terrible effect especially on colleagues who have experienced trauma relating to men or who have religious reasons to not want to share a space with someone who is the opposite sex.

I have to say@ElleWoods15 has been using this thread to hand the ‘trans women are not women’ brigade their ass for two nights in a row.

Are you joking?

The ‘transwomen are not women’ brigade always make the TWAW team look ridiculous. Because they are.

GailBlancheViola · 30/08/2024 21:48

Any minute now the trope about the toilets in our houses is going to be wheeled out.

Why would I? If planes and trains had designated sex toilets and males pretending to be women went into them to get their validation kicks there would be a problem. As there is only single sex toilets on board, and everyone knows this prior to, so no deception involved, no problem. Not sure why this needs explaining. It’s really not the gotcha you think it is.

I don’t think it’s a ‘gotcha’. I just think you misunderstood the previous post. But that’s fine, Wes, no need for the aggro.

I think that’s the pp’s point.

But maybe you practice ultra rawdogging every flight and don’t even wee.

@GailBlancheViola so you can have your opinion but another poster can't?
How very very kind.

What are you referring to?

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 30/08/2024 21:40

ElleWoods15 · 30/08/2024 21:31

Well it’s good that you know better than everyone there than your GC echo chamber on here! Go you!

Echo chamber or, people who just know basic biological reality.

Do trains and aeroplanes have designated sex toilets? I must've missed that.

🤣 I’d love for at least one attempt for Elle to ‘hand us their ass’. So much avoidance a politician would be proud.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 30/08/2024 21:33

StMarieforme · 30/08/2024 21:28

Like in aeroplanes? Trains?

Oh no!

It’s alright, I know what’s true and what’s not. The truth is they aren’t. No one is assigned a sex at birth. It’s assigned at conception and observed at birth. It can’t be changed. Legal fiction is still fiction.

Still avoiding all other points put to you.

Take it up with every dictionary in the land then Wes, if you don’t like it. Not me. As I say it’s an entirely standard term.

And thats the fundamental difference between you and I, I believe people can be other than that assigned at birth. (In fairness, so does the law of the U.K.)

Okay so you'd be happy if we used the trans then? Or would you be reporting like mad?

Don't bother answering as I know the answer to that.

Terf is an offensive, demeaning slur and deemed so by eminent Judges in various court cases and is in fact banned on here, funny how you claim to not be rude, think you are so kind and tolerant and yet you want to use that term.

No it’s not. It’s not allowed as a personal
insult. I didn’t use it as such.

StMarieforme · 30/08/2024 21:28

cheekaa · 29/08/2024 17:40

I wonder if this may soon apply to the toilets used by female customers?

Like in aeroplanes? Trains?

Oh no!

Having to use unisex loos is always disgusting due to the wee from men who miss the toilet. Women’s loos can be disgusting as well but it’s to a higher level of achievement in unisex loos. Women don’t leave the toilet covered in blood so why should men piss everywhere and it’s ok?

Oh my days. Your objection to unisex loos (not necessarily relevant to the question but hey) is that chaps miss the mark.

Deep.

GailBlancheViola · 30/08/2024 21:26

(In fairness, so does the law of the U.K.)

In fairness no it doesn't. You really don't understand the Law at all.

GailBlancheViola · 30/08/2024 21:25

At work we have a trans employee that uses female toilets. No one cares. This in a major company as well. I’d rather there were unisex toilets everywhere tbh.

Have you asked every female in the (major) company if they mind?

ElleWoods15 · 30/08/2024 21:20

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 30/08/2024 21:12

Well yeah. That’s not a belief though. That’s just fact. I’m puzzled as to why a special term has been devised for people who know… fact. No one can change sex. I’d hazard a guess that even the most ardent of TRA’s know this too. Would they be GC too?

It’s a fairly standard term @AccidentallyWesAnderson; I’m surprised you need it explaining. Sorry, it’s not that I can’t, more I assumed it wasn’t necessary.

It means someone who believes that sex can’t be changed, and can also doubt the concept of gender identity.

Any issues with that as a description?!

Oh Gail. Because hyperbole is never the resort of the GC.

The GC, how rude. You'd combust if we referred to the trans wouldn't you?

Care to answer any question(s)? Or is ignoring always your resort?

To use it you must be able to explain it surely?
