To think we should all boycott John Lewis until they respect their female employees

This is a letter from a female employee of John Lewis's Cheadle branch. John Lewis told its female employees that they have to share toilets and locker rooms with trans identifying men. The employee says this is having a terrible effect especially on colleagues who have experienced trauma relating to men or who have religious reasons to not want to share a space with someone who is the opposite sex.

You want to exclude trans women, who have a legal right to be in women’s loos.

No they don't have a legal right to be in women's loos our new Prime Minister, who knows a thing or two about the Law, has explicitly stated they do not have that right even if they have a GRC.

You can’t be a trans woman unless you are assigned male at birth. That’s different to ‘being male to begin with’ as you put it. But we’re not going to persuade each other of our respective positions on this arguing on a board on MN so i’m done for today.

How is it different?

Explain

No one is assigned anything at birth. You are male at conception, male at birth and you’ll remain male until the day you die. It’s not kind to affirm anything other than this to some poor soul.

It really is. You can’t be a trans woman unless you are male to begin with. That’s really it. You don’t need to go on MN FWR forums to know this simple FACT. Anything other than this isn’t sensible discussion, it’s delusion and gas lighting.

If this deluded thinking didn’t have such disastrous consequences for women it would be laughable that grown adults (which I’m assuming you are) are walking about insisting this as fact.

I’ve yet to see ‘sensible discussion’ from biological reality deniers so no sleep will
be lost on that front.

I do salute your blind dedication to this absurd cause though Elle as the more exposure this harmful ideology gets the better. So thank you.

It literally isn’t the criteria Wes (not sure if you’ve ever actually looked it up, or if you’re just going by what you’ve read on mumsnet fwr forum)-
but you keep chuckling if it makes you happy….

Like a pp, I’ve not got any more time to waste on trying to have a sensible discussion with you.

If you’re upset, ask MNHQ why it was deleted @Elbone .

If you can, i’d look back at what you wrote (no idea if that’s possible). The clue was in the last two sentences of your post from memory. It’s one thing to disagree with a poster, but to target them specifically with abusive slurs is another.

Edited

Slurs?

What would you call men who tell women to shut up about women’s rights and prioritise the feelings of deluded men?

What other oppressed groups do you cheer on being told to shut up and prioritise their oppressor?

Yes

Elbone · 31/08/2024 16:42

Can a woman be a trans woman? Can I, a female, identify as a trans woman?

Elbone · 31/08/2024 16:41

ElleWoods15 · 31/08/2024 15:53

I don’t think the deletion had anything to do with misogyny.

I think it had to do with the requirement (see the Talk Guidelines) to have a basic level of respect for other posters, and not resort to abuse.

You’re not being discriminated against, you’re being pulled up for behaviour which disrupts civil discussion. It’s quite different.

Of course it’s misogyny.

There is no other oppressed group on earth who are forced to include and prioritise their oppressors in their own civil rights movement.

Lol of course it is. If they'd been born women with a body designed around the production of large gametes (the only qualification to be a woman) they’d be biological women wouldnt they not trans women

as it is every single one of them was born and remains a man

ElleWoods15 · 31/08/2024 16:34

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 31/08/2024 16:23

They are men. If they weren’t they couldn’t be trans women. It’s literally the only criteria 😂.

Why are these men more important than women?

And apologies, you’ve avoided so many points, reasoning and questions I lose track.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 31/08/2024 16:24

ElleWoods15 · 31/08/2024 16:21

We’re not talking about men.

We’re talking about trans women. Who are women. Which is why we’re not answering questions about men’s feelings.

Hth Wes. I thought it was clear previously, but apparently not.

Trans women are men unless you think for example a male pelvis miraculously changes to a female one by special declaration and wearing make up

Has anyone attempted to answer why men’s feelings and rights come before women’s due to having special feelings? Or are we (well one) still waltzing around insisting squares are circles if they say so?

I was responding very gently to @BernardBlacksBreakfastWine who told me to fuck off.

You are, once again, conflating women in general with gender critical people in particular. Most feminists support trans women’s rights. It’s MRAs, incels, neo-Nazis, religious fundamentalists and gender critical people who don’t.

No, trans women don’t offend at the same rate as men, no, trans women in women’s loos don’t endanger women, no, single sex loos would not make women safer - quite the opposite and no, you do not get to impose your beliefs on people who have a right to be where they are.

Trans women have the same rights as anyone else. It’s the additional boundary pushing extra rights they think they are entitled to (they’re not) that women have a problem with.

ElleWoods15 · 31/08/2024 14:56

But you must also know that, outside of a certain group of posters on MN, it’s simply not something that is blindly accepted as fact.

A tiny amount of delusional people accept trans women as women. A tiny amount of delusional people believe the earth is flat.

Both are incorrect.

I wonder if any other legally protected vulnerable group of oppressed people would have their comments removed when responding to someone of the oppressive class stating they shouldn’t have any rights to protect themselves.
Ah well, I guess that’s misogyny for you.
