What threads have you seen on here that have lodged themselves into your brain?

For me it's the lady who was gifted a periscope by her dh which was completely random and hilarious.

Also the lady who upset a crow and never came back! Assumed she and her dog were eaten by the crows.

The woman who's husband was having an affair with his crewmate.. felt a bit close to home as I'd previously questioned DH closeness to a female crewmate.. she handled it so well and I hope she's doing well, think of her often

More recently a lady found out she was pregnant and was a few weeks away from giving birth, she was so worried and had to go to the hospital but we didn’t hear from her again. Every now and then, when I come on here, I wonder and hope everything was ok

Mydustymonstera · 28/08/2024 06:58

Anyone remember a poster Ghost something? She had several children, a really distinctive posting style, and always a whole pile of totally intractable, impossible problems. The children had high needs, she couldn’t follow anything through, they had a housing problem. She posted all the time then just stopped.

Temporarynameforthisone · 28/08/2024 06:54

The young woman whose baby was placed for adoption against her wishes when she was 19 and in an abusive relationship. Her bf had forced her in to prostitution and signed the papers to have their baby adopted. I cried at her heartbreaking story. She’s since updated and is now in a settled relationship with a child but still trying to contact her first born.

sleepwithblanket · 28/08/2024 06:48

Can anyone link the Pamela thread please?

mexican house thief is a stand out for me and the Sistine Chapel thread.

Also one that I can’t remember all of but a mum lost her daughter. She had a few threads right up until she died. My memory is vague but when I travel through a certain part of Scotland, I always think of that mum and her little girl. It was extremely moving reading the threads.

Justkeepingplatesspinning · 28/08/2024 06:44

Pamela's story has stayed with me.
I often think about Chopin and her situation with lobster boy too. Wonder if it will ever be resolved.
Some of the domestic abuse threads too, especially where the OP doesn't reappear to let us know they are safe.

cryinglaughing · 28/08/2024 06:28

Yonks ago now but the threads about a large building being built in the garden next door, when it really wasn't big enough for the size of the building.
It caused the OP much angst.

A couple that stick in my mind from years ago when I first joined.

The woman asking where people kept their tampons where their DH's couldn't see or find them. I found this so sad on several levels.

A new Mum who was absolutely distraught because it was her baby's bedtime and she couldn't find a matching pair of pyjamas - she inly had a clean top of one pair and the clean bottom of another and was worried about what effect it would have on the baby.

I've often wondered 'what happened next' in both these situations.

Wow! My DH buys mine and DS uses my tampons (not used!!!) for his homemade sling gun 😄. I don't even look if the pyjamas are matching neither do my DC. Drives my DH nuts though

Maria1979 · 28/08/2024 06:15

Fairly New to MN so for me the funniest has been the sch mum and mum in hotel room with farting DH.

I came on the say about the ‘RunningInTheRain’ poster. I think about her whenever any of my friends get dumped - she behaved with so much dignity and her ex ended up kicking himself and trying to come crawling back. Ha! I hope she’s happy these days, what a star.

I think that thread should be mandatory reading for all the posters that post about what to say or do when they’ve been broken up with or ghosted. It really is the best response.

Did the baby make it? 🥹

Yes. IIRC she went to her adoptive family and emin retired from fostering and then fell ill.

I will never forget Birdy Friend. My top thread of all time.

Came on here to say Birdyfriend too!

SquirrelSoShiny · 28/08/2024 05:27

On a more somber note I do think about Pamela's threads often and a few mumsnetters who have passed away. MN on good days has 100% made me laugh, made me cry and sometimes both at the same time Flowers

Penetration Man. 😆

Penetration man | Mumsnet

It's 5am, I'm struggling with peri insomnia and reminding me of that thread has given me the will to carry on 😂

Claire’s mum. Was it a troll?

No. She’s my cousin and it was all sadly very real.

sashh · 28/08/2024 05:15

One of the 'What was you best Christmas present?" threads.

Someone said a a set of dove soap and shampoo.

She then went on to explain she had taken her children and run to a shelter with nothing, she couldn't even pack a toothbrush.

I still think of her and the year after I started sending small amounts of make up and basically what ever is on offer at Superdrug to my local shelter in December.

Penguin bollards on The Isle of Wight.
Hilarious!

Lady who was fostering a preemie baby who was born addicted to drugs. Really humbling thread.

Final one: the Im sick and tired of Dinosaurs being forced on our children. 🤣 that was almost 10 years ago now. I thought they were for real. www.mumsnet.com/talk/mumsnet_classics/2301982-Im-getting-sick-and-tired-of-dinosaurs-being-forced-on-our-children

AnnieMcFanny · 28/08/2024 05:03

think of Pamela too & Claire. Claire’s mum was accused of being a troll but then someone posted the death notice for her daughter. The thread & the way it was written with such regular updates was a little unusual & some posters noticed inconsistencies. The whole thing was a little odd but I do find myself thinking about it.

Claires mum is my cousin. She’s just retired and is currently in our hometown spending time with family.

Redrosesandsunsets · 28/08/2024 04:52

I remember a woman who found out she had ovarian cancer. She said her belly had gotten big quickly and noticeably and so she went in for tests. Then she was in and out of hospital after thar with a diagnosis and it was a really sad journey. She had two girls who were not young but at home and needing their mum. I always wondered what happened to her daughters. It was so sad seeing her pain and loss through her journey.

Letsgodancing · 28/08/2024 02:12

There's one from a few years back, quite a sad one but I remember it well, she had a very controlling partner and didn't have any personal space, she did update to say that she had a new job and new place to live lined up but never saw any updates after that. I hope she did manage to move on and is having a lovely life now

I remember this. She was quite scared about leaving but planned her escape really well. Settle into a new place and then nothing. She said he would look for her. I wondered what happened.

David and Caroline. He was an unbelievable predator on here. Lowest of the low.

This one (David and Caroline). Not sure how many years ago (quite a few) but yes I still remember. So sad.
