What threads have you seen on here that have lodged themselves into your brain?

For me it's the lady who was gifted a periscope by her dh which was completely random and hilarious.

Also the lady who upset a crow and never came back! Assumed she and her dog were eaten by the crows.

Riven, who had a severely disabled DD and one day she posted that she was so desperate that she was considering putting her DD into care.

It was a classic example of how things can go wrong when people take to social media. Mn’ers tagged all the tabloids on twitter and before too long Riven had the tabloids outside her house.

She left MN shortly after that because by posting about her on SM she, and her vulnerable DD, had become identifiable.

Always wonder what happened to her. Her DD would be an adult now I think.

Misdee whose DH had a heart transplant, he got the call one night and mn’ers were on tenterhooks to see if it would go ahead. This was back in the day when MN was smaller and everyone knew who everyone was. I often wonder what happened to her DH, If I remember rightly they had loads more kids after his transplant.

Yonks ago now but the threads about a large building being built in the garden next door, when it really wasn't big enough for the size of the building.
I think it built as a garden gym but was clearly going to be used as a residence.

Also the poster who had a shared garden where all the surrounding properties had just windows looking onto it, and someone had changed the window to a door, leading to structural problems.

Lastly, wasn't there a guy who got miffed and wanted onto the poster's essay?

Pom bears was my fave. Mumsnet at its peak imo

I felt like I was part of such a fun little club as it went along

Pom bears was around the time I joined Mumsnet. I only stayed for that, lol!!

There was an epic one where a loony brought her Dh and toddler along to a girls weekend after explicitly being told not to.

One where a poster was adamant that no child of hers had ever left the house without a parent until they were 18.

One where a poster had a joke with her Dh that they would run into a room topless Tarzan style beating their chest and shouting ooh aah. Op did it to her Dh only he was sitting at the kitchen table with their builder.

The fashion one - what you thought you would look like in an outfit v the cruel reality.

Ooh please link the fashion one!

And her brother was visiting! He was very funny. And in the end the total wanker sent his wife to collect it.

Penguin Bollard was good too. I do love a parking thread.

There was a brilliantly funny one a few years ago; a poster's road was being resurfaced next day, warnings not to park everywhere, idiots kept parking. She warned two young men who were then rude to her, telling her to mind her own business. Later, she watched cars being craned, towed etc. Almost live updates.
It showed some people's entitlement very well. I was rocking with laughter. She also wrote very well, which helps. Would love to read it again.

HornyHornersPinger · 28/08/2024 09:56

If someone could link these threads for us 'reasonably' new MNers I'd be very grateful 😀

CoffeeLover90 · 28/08/2024 09:56

I'd like to add, one that resurrected lately, a lady posted asking for a handhold. Found out she was pregnant after a long journey of losses, the thread was updated right up to the healthy little girls birth. When I saw her photo I burst into tears. She added a family photo too, including her and their dog, the image of a perfect family, you wouldn't guess what they'd been through and she was the picture of health.

HotDogJumpingFrogAlbuquerque · 28/08/2024 09:55

Has anyone mentioned the Xmas thread where the OP was sneaking out at night and decorating a neighbours garden / pavement every night and including pics with updates

Think it was centred round a small ‘No Parking’ sign he had for the space outside his house

Her kids didn’t even know it was her doing it even though she was creating the scene using their old toys

Apollo365 · 28/08/2024 09:53

Ohh I re read the Savernake forest one recently, I kept thinking about it for the rest of the week. Then scared myself walking in the woods 🤣

I also wonder about the poster who didn’t pass a bowel movement for a month or something but the post was removed. I hope if it was real she was ok!

CautiousLurker · 28/08/2024 09:52

Barbara, the allotment squatter. Think that was a trilogy thread in the end?

FuchsiaForever · 28/08/2024 09:52

Haven’t RTFT yet, only got half way through, but wanted to add one that always sticks in my mind. It was a lady who had emigrated to New Zealand with her DH and kids, he was from there and I think they either lived with his family or were very involved with his family, who were very controlling and abusive, a family business was involved too, and she wanted to leave him and take the kids back to London as she hated it so much, but couldn’t. It went on for a few years, she kept updating it and had made progress and moved to her own place but was still stuck in NZ. Last time I checked I think she hadn’t updated since lockdown and I often wonder how she’s doing now.

LovelyBitOfHam · 28/08/2024 01:32

There was once a thread about a mysterious smartphone that appeared in someone’s living room in the night and no one knew how it got there or who it belonged to. I think it was bullshit but as far as I remember the poster didn’t come back.

Mexican house thief.

Mexican house theif regularly gets mentioned but it was never a thread just one post on a very long thread about cheeky fuckers

Unicorntearsofgin · 28/08/2024 09:41

There was a really sad one. A mum called something like sea of sadness. She had her kids taken into care for neglect and was obviously devastated. I think she was a bit in denial of what the issues were but I hope she resolved things and got her daughters back. It was really heartbreaking.

Username12284949 · 28/08/2024 09:41

The lady who's daughter died after having tonsillitis always sticks with me it was heartbreaking.

There was a thread on her about 6 years ago from a lady who's 2 year old daughter fell from a bunk bed and passed away from her injuries 😢. It was removed at her request not long after and she hasn't posted on here since. I never see it mentioned on these kind of threads but it's always stuck with me poor woman. I hope she's doing ok.

Coinkydink · 28/08/2024 09:22

Little red toothbrush’s thread/s the courage it must have taken that day. I hope she is well and would love if some day she popped up to give us an update on how she is doing.

She’s already posted on this thread! Page 11!

TwinklyRoseTurtle · 28/08/2024 09:40

The girl who was going to a Greek wedding maybe earlier this month? She was supposed to stay a few days with a guy she was seeing there and the wedding party got in touch to see if someone can stay in her room but the guy she was seeing got weird with her? Does anyone know the outcome been wondering if she dumped him 😂 x

sillygoof · 28/08/2024 08:42

I remember one that ran to three or four threads but I either lost it or she left… I think she was Australian, and her teenaged son was being coerced by his girlfriend, not seeing his family or friends, not going to school. I wish I knew there was a happy ending there.

Yes - such a sad situation! I remember OP posting that they'd broken up and her son was doing much better.

sashh · 28/08/2024 09:38

Just thought of another Tilly's thread about getting a golden retriever and every other post was along the lines of, "do you know about the hair?"

BiscuityBoyle · 28/08/2024 09:37

I spent a long time exclusively in the TTC, IVF, and infertility boards and never came onto the regular boards until I found the thread where a woman wanted to extend her kitchen into a shared passage.
She was in a terrace house where you have a passage between the houses to access the garden. Her neighbour didn’t use the passage as he was the end off the terrace. She wanted to extend her kitchen into the passage and couldn’t understand why she couldn’t do that.

Namechangeforcheese · 28/08/2024 09:37

One that sticks with me was a thread from a mum complaining that her 8 year old was sneaking cheese from the fridge. Not just the odd slice, but eating entire blocks of cheddar on a daily basis. She said he had a good diet otherwise but a compulsion to eat huge quantities of cheese and then deny it.

One day she walked in while he was doing it and although he was standing in front of her with his cheeks bulging with cheese to the extent that it was oozing out through the gaps in his teeth he still insisted he hadn't eaten any.

The reason it sticks with me is that her final question was not 'why is he doing this?', but "should I put a lock on the fridge?'

Emeraldiisland · 28/08/2024 09:34

Not that long ago there was a thread about noises in the kitchen and the poster thought it was a mouse. She did post a few updates but then stopped. So don't know if it was a mouse or what happened.

onwardandupwards · 28/08/2024 09:33

The lady who found her 2 year old had passed, Pamela and I think the lady's name was gojetter who lost her little boy utterly heartbreaking 💔

BuntyFayreweather · 28/08/2024 09:33

The shaggers in the hedge, the op was advised to turn the hose on them or clap.

The recent thread with the soon to be mature XW who couldn't see she was controlling and greedy.

Re the Savenake Forest posts. I lived near there. My family for hundreds of years. There are many people buried there. Very creepy when the light starts to fade.
There wete historic covens including the clergy. I'm blinking glad I don't live there anymore.

Polyethyl · 28/08/2024 09:32

Softzilla, where a mother A got mother B stalking her because mother B thought mother A ought to pay the entrance fee for child B at a soft play centre.

SkiingIsHeaven · 27/08/2024 23:16

I love the one where a lady had been driving and saw a weird animal She couldn't draw it but described it and another mumsnetter drew it. I think it turned out that they lived near to each other.

Wow! Has anyone got a link for this??
