Conjunctivitis?

Posting here for traffic Baby only 18 days old and is getting lots of build up of sleep/gunge no matter how many times it's wiped away with cotton balls it comes back immediately please can anyone help with what to use & what's possibly causes it? TIA

It does look like conjunctivitis but might be best to check with your midwife / HV and send these photos to them.

I was always told to use cooled boiled water, one cotton wool pad per eye (to save cross contamination) to wipe it away, several times a day.

Also sounds random but if you are breast feeding, express a drop of milk and wipe the eye with this. BM has amazing healing qualities. It definitely works!

Has he/she been poorly? My GP told my little ones often get conjunctivitis as the virus is leaving the body.
