Anyone else sick of hearing this phrase. It's everywhere just now.

It's the new "grim".

Is this the PG version of fuck about and find out?

Yes, although older. Hadn’t heard it in a long time before a) the recent riots and their subsequent sentencing and b) Taylor Swift putting it in a song.

I quite like it as a phrase, it sort of sums up the “serves you right” view in a slightly less confrontational way.

I've never heard this before. I don't really like it as a phrase though.

You play stupid games you win stupid prizes is in a taylor swift song that might be why

BernardBlacksBreakfastWine · 25/08/2024 19:47

But actually it’s ‘play stupid games, win stupid prizes’. Doesn’t work so well otherwise.

BernardBlacksBreakfastWine · 25/08/2024 19:46

I actually love this phrase. It’s not often apposite though so I don’t get to use it much ☹️

Thanks Ms Swift Grin

That's a blast from the past!

Must be 20 years since I heard it.

NeverEnoughPants · 25/08/2024 19:44

I've not heard it for a long time. Where are you hearing it?
