I’m 46 now and keep remembering my teenage years, early mid 20’s and craving them, life just feels like a slog now full of things we have to do. Back then, it was all just so much fun…life was amazing.
I also have fond memories of early 30’s, buying a house, career, still young really-travelling, festivals.
Then 39 when I had my Dd and those early years, hard work but so beautiful in a different way. I don’t know why I can’t see the future being anything good like these moments 🤷🏻‍♀️

What was your favourite age?

I loved my early 30s when DS was a toddler. I'm late 40s now and enjoying finally feeling confident in myself and progressing my career.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 25/08/2024 21:21

32 I looked fucking hot.Fresh from splitting up with ExH and lost loads of weight and it's the only time in my life I looked good in anything.

LonelyInDville · 25/08/2024 21:01

18-21 the college years, was the best time of my life. I miss it 😢

jerensahade · 25/08/2024 20:55

Age 33. Just married, wealthy and between jobs so plenty of time for doing whatever I liked all day - wandering around London, art exhibitions, theatre matinees, swimming, dance classes, being creative.

GogoGobo · 25/08/2024 20:37

40, it was ace!

abracadabra1980 · 25/08/2024 20:14

Every decade has its joys and tragedies for me
Loved 27 - got married
Loved 33 - son born (IVF, 2nd attempt)
Blessed at 34 - daughter born when I thought I couldn't have children naturally
Devastated at 37-exH had a mid life crisis and left us resulting in divorce. Rescued a pregnant cat and when she had her kittens was as beautiful as anything I've ever experienced (bar my own births)
38-40 - got my shit together mentally and enjoyed life with friends immensely. Drank too much; got my longed for dream dog and couldn't have been more happy even though exH was still trying to make my life a misery.
46-married my first love - and gained the most wonderful stepdaughter anyone could wish for
47 - dream campervan purchased
50 - friends who is begged not to bother, arranged a small birthday gathering which was absolutely fantastic. Separated from 2nd husband, not acrimonious. MH issues insurmountable.
51 - went on holiday by myself - a tick box ambition - loved it. Also worst year ever as lost my best friend to cancer
53 - got my beautiful dream of my lifetime dog. Am blessed every day to have her.
55 -56 - both kids graduated, seemingly not affected by their fathers indiscretions when they were babies. Win win.
Massive loss of my beloved dad after a long illness ❤️
56 + kids happy and in stable relationships, and hopefully in promising, well paid, careers.
New puppy added to family - sheer joy ( and bloody exhausting)!
Not hit 57 yet- but this year I'm planning on going away for Xmas by myself and with the dogs, but I'm scared to tell my mother. There are other family so she may be ok 🤔 Kids will be fine - it's their dads turn this year for the 25th.
It's mostly shot getting old; but there's always someone older than you and maybe not in such good health.
I'm content. Almost happy-'happy' is a rare state of mind.
From now, I wish for good health. If I died tomorrow, I'd be content that I've been an adequate person, daughter, wife and mother. Apart from lack of collagen and it taking my appearance south, I'd say the age I am now, living alone with my dogs. Is the happiest I've ever been. Second husband still one of my closest friends 🥂

Garlicfest · 25/08/2024 19:24

24 and 37. I've had some of the key ingredients for more great years since then - single, plenty of freedom, opportunities - but lack two of the main ones: good health and enough money. Hoping my brilliant old-age year might still pull itself out of the mess!

Bohomovies · 25/08/2024 19:22

My favourite age was my early 30s. I started to know who I was, and discovered my style, and got my qualification, and had some very nice things happen in my personal life.
I know exactly what you mean about the nostalgia, though. In my case I wonder if it’s part of menopause or mid-life crisis. Sometimes I feel so deeply nostalgic for my teens and my younger years that I could cry.

LaurieFairyCake · 25/08/2024 19:20

I had a horrific family life as a teenager but I still remember 12-17 as utterly fantastic

I had mates, loads of money (because I worked in a cafe), went out clubbing/disco every weekend, tons of boyfriends. Also it was a really safe area and nothing bad ever happened to me outside the home.

I also enjoyed aspects of university but it was also a hard time in many ways as I was really poor

20/30/40s all shit 💩

50's bloody brilliant (though I work too hard unfortunately out of necessity)

MakeItRain · 25/08/2024 19:18

Now! So 50s. I finally feel at peace, my children are becoming independent but are also good company. I don't have the anxiety I had when I was younger and now I'm divorced I can choose to spend my life how I want. Having said that I have some lovely memories from when my children were little and I miss how fit I was in my early 30s!

DoopSnoggySnogg · 25/08/2024 19:16

I’m almost forty and I think now is my best time probably. Child-free by choice and finally comfortable financially. Me and DH both doing jobs we enjoy. Live close to family after years of being spread all over the country/world.

GlobetrottingPercy · 25/08/2024 19:15

I’m alone here it seems but I genuinely would say about 7-10. Loved being a child and the Saturday night TV, playing with my toys without a care in the world, saving my pocket money for the latest Polly pocket! Other than that I would say around 24, life revolved around work and then nights out with my friends. I had some of my best memories from about 24-26!

singleandfree · 25/08/2024 19:11

Ive enjoyed all the years in some ways.
I think hitting my 30s was the best my son turned 18 hes 21 now & moved out im still in my 30s and loving life with out responsibility.
Doing what i want.
Life is where it should for me.

familyissues12345 · 25/08/2024 19:00

Probably my 40's to be honest! It just feels like we're so lucky at the moment. Last year we moved into a lovely house, DS's are teens/young adults, so still around the feel like we're a family still, but they are old enough that DH and I can have nights away alone!

I also feel at my happiest in the way I look. I'm probably at my heaviest (rather rotund), would like to change it abit, but apart from the health side of it, I really don't care. I always hated clothes shopping, felt ashamed of myself and wore poorly shaped clothes as assumed tents were the way to go. I now wear what I bloody well want, and don't give a stuff what anyone thinks about it!

Hurrah!

Beth216 · 25/08/2024 18:52

Things get better the older I get. Money worries get less, stresses over kids get less, worrying about my looks and what other people think of me get less - and holidays get more frequent and much cheaper as we can go outside term time. I'm fast approaching 50 and can't wait for the next decade.

purpleme12 · 25/08/2024 18:49

Are uni

And the year after uni when I was abroad.

That was when I had the best times.

And obviously none of the responsibilities/worries that you get when you're older!

IBlameTheDog · 25/08/2024 18:46

26/27. The time I met my ex and we moved in together and planned our wedding.

We were so happy and in love.

He left me a couple of weeks before our second DC was born and has had very little to do with them since.

I'll never love again like I loved him. I don't think you can when you have DC as no matter what, they'll always come first.

longdistanceclaraclara · 25/08/2024 18:46

24-30

CorWotcha · 25/08/2024 18:45

Hoping it’s still to come!!

Lindjam · 25/08/2024 18:41

28/29 was WILD 🤪

53 was brilliant. I felt like I finally stopped giving a fuck and became genuinely happy in my own skin.

EscapingTheseFeelings · 25/08/2024 18:33

16 - 18 years old. I had great friends, a great social life, was earning enough money to buy myself clothes and go out and was starting to escape my toxic family.

Radiohorror · 25/08/2024 18:29

Early 30s I would say. Late teens & 20s I was a bit tortured - bad relationships etc. Early 30s we had plenty of money, good holidays. I remember being very contented on my 40th birthday feeling that life was good.
50s - lost both parents so not so good.
60s - was so looking forward to retiring & lots of travelling, then came COVID & DH now has terminal cancer. Seize the day, folks, you don't know what's around the corner.

MinervaMcGonagallsCat · 25/08/2024 18:27

University years and 20s were awesome.

But am also currently loving being 50 having reached the top levels of my career, having a great family and now having enough money to do all the things I want to do, more or less when I want.

JustMarriedBecca · 25/08/2024 18:25

27-29

Post graduation and double income, no kids. Amazing holidays.

ScamOrNot · 25/08/2024 18:25

Mid 30s to early 40s (50 now). Think I settled into who I was, found my confidence. Happy in relationship, motherhood, career, friendships, holidays, personal style and comfortable standing up for myself when needed.

I often think I look far better in pics then than I did when I was younger.
