Came home to find a dead bird on my doorstep… Literally can’t fathom how it would end up there. Live in the countryside but how did it get there???
Of course the ring doorbell isn’t charged, so can’t check if it was put there. I’m SO freaked out right now after googling ‘dead bird on doorstep’. It wasn’t a little bird either - some sort of crow looking thing. I was screaming and my partner removed it, so I didn’t get a good look. Anyone else out there ever experienced anything similar?

Norwegian Blue?

Aren’t Norwegian Blues parrots?
I was thinking of maybe all the corvid types but I’m sure the Norwegian Blues wouldn’t be averse to joining in.

Yes you are doomed.

Every crow, raven, jackdaw type bird will target your house now and dive bomb you to peck out your eyes every time you leave home.

It’s the screaming that did it. Should have kept your mouth shut.

Time to move but make sure “The Birds” don’t get any idea of where you’re going as they could still exact their revenge

Ever thought of emigrating… now’s the time.

I live opposite ds school and one day walking down the street, taking him to school, I found a dead crow (might have been a raven) right in the middle of the path, the kids and parents were all freaking out.

I asked the school reception for a bag, picked it up, took it home a buried it. I had to cover it in strong smelling herbs like cloves and cinnamon to make sure it wasnt dug up by a fox or anything. But job done. Dp came down in the middle of it, looked at me getting the herbs out, asked what I was doing when I said ‘burying a bird that was dead on the street’ he just ‘oh ok’ and left me too it.

Thinking about it, That was one of my better years. A company I had shares in, sold to a PE company and I got enough to pay all my debt off. So maybe your aren’t doomed. Maybe you are about to have a change in luck?

I do have now have a reputation as the village death witch though, now. So swings and roundabouts 😂

Honestly, it’s just a bird. They die. Sometimes near where people are.

We came home to this n our garden this week. It is protecting it's lunch which it proceeded to pluck and scoff within a metre of me. Completely unfazed by me being there.

Screaming and googling to see if it's some kind of omen is a bit of an overreaction I think.

Solymoly · 25/08/2024 05:46

Probably flew into the house, we found a dead bird and full on blood splatters on top of our caravan on the drive.

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 25/08/2024 05:45

You screamed?
Are you ok?
That's a genuine question, not a dig at you.
It's just that screaming is such an odd reaction that I wonder if maybe there are other things troubling you right now.

VelvetWithFlowers · 25/08/2024 05:32

Ours was a present from the cat. Well I hope so 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I screamed when a giant rat, the size of a small kangaroo was lying dead on our doormat, it was the shock.
Husband said it was a baby rat.

MegsNaiceJam · 25/08/2024 04:56

Wait, is dead crow the body of the mumsnetter who was marked by the crows and disappeared from the thread? Yep. We are doomed.
Cancel the milk and all
direct debits, adopt the brace position.

DreamTheMoors · 25/08/2024 04:39

If your nose was stuffed up you’d be asking,
”are we doobed?” lol

A cat probably left it there as a gift. It’s quite an honour, actually, to be singled out by the feline community.

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 25/08/2024 04:30

I'm screaming at some of these replies - hilarious

Sorry OP :)

RawBloomers · 25/08/2024 04:27

Absolutely doomed. Must be a raven - an omen of bad luck if ever there was one. Whatever you’ve done, it’s too late now. You and all your progeny are damned. May as well live it up while you can.

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 25/08/2024 04:27

This time of year we could find a black bear on the drive.

Not kidding.

Nightowl1234 · 25/08/2024 04:24

Haha thanks for the reminder - I need to find the Sistine chapel thread again.

Redgreenfroggy · 25/08/2024 04:13

Your where screaming at a dead bird!!!!
Have you been to the Sistine chapel in the past by any chance op

EmpressaurusDeiGatti · 25/08/2024 03:24

If it was a horse’s head, you probably would be doomed.

Only when it's in your bed.

Aquamarine1029 · 25/08/2024 03:26

Screaming? Over a dead bird that a cat probably left there, as they are well-known to do.

At least you didn't overreact.

Edingril · 25/08/2024 03:14

Screaming why?

Pettyhangingbaskets · 25/08/2024 02:57

Cat

steff13 · 25/08/2024 02:47

Birds built a nest in my gutter this year. There were dead babies on the porch every week. Birds die. 🤷‍♀️

Redegg · 25/08/2024 00:12

We had a dead pigeon on the grass verge outside our house. I left it a few days to see if a fox or the council would deal with it for me. They didn’t, so I shovelled it into a bag for life (the irony), and put it in my wheelie bin.

No bad luck to report. In fact a few days later I won a bottle of Ribena at a tombola.

OMG 🤣🤣 I'm howling, you totally win the internet today!!

Onthescrapheap81 · 25/08/2024 02:38

Better than a live pheasant flying around your bedroom in the middle of the night, brought in by the cats.

I speak from experience.
