For not wanting toddler in own room when abroad?

Hi all,
We are looking at booking a holiday abroad next year. We will have a 3.5 year old and 1.5 year old twins

We've been looking at apartments with a family room so our 3.5 year old could have the single bed, and there would be space for two travel cots for the twins. Then my husband and I would be in the double bed. Cosy I know, but I just feel like I need to be close to all 3 of them when abroad.

We could spend our time in the living area and balcony once the kids are in bed for a few hours.

My husband wants to get a 2 bed apartment so our 3.5 year old can sleep in their own room. She sleeps in her own room at home, I dont know why but I just don't like the idea of her being alone in a room abroad. Some irrational fear of something happening to her...

Get a two bed and even if your DD doesn’t sleep in the second bedroom, yourself and your DH could take turns sleeping in it. Five people sleeping in one room will be no fun and you’ll both be happier alternating ‘nights off’.

I think you have to knock that on the head OP - over anxiety does children no good.

Whatever the PP says there’s no reason your child is more likely to be snatched on holiday than from her nursery playground.

Also, I’m guessing your husband is hoping to have sex, and doesn’t want to wake her up, which is reasonable.

The twins are still going to be in with them.

I wouldn't like that either OP. I wouldn't sleep well with worry.

I’m exactly the same. I was only really happy with DC1 having their own room on holiday when they were 5+.

DC2 has had their own room on a UK holiday but they’re still in a travel cot and I’m (fairly!) confident they can’t get out. Once they’re in a bed though I’d want them back in our room.

Stick to your guns OP. You’re not being unreasonable: plenty of time in the future for all DCs to have their own room.

A year is a long time. We didn't use hotels like that as no one would get any sleep.

If you’re not happy with the idea you’re not happy. It’s not unreasonable. I wouldnt open the kids windows at centre parcs one year in the blazing heat so I understand the concerns.
