I mean something dramatic has to be done. The police have said clearly this goes beyond a policing matter to solve.

If anything a curfew is the perfect opportunity. Quieter streets, 63% of the police force stuck at home, and women lulled into a false sense of security. Someone who wants to commit a rape is already planning a crime, they're not going to think oh no I'd love to go out and rape but I can't break curfew, I might get a fine.

I'm the last person to put my fingers in my ears about VAWG but suggestions need to be a) effective and b) legally enforceable to be worth a moment's discussion.

This suggestion is neither effective nor legally enforceable so discussing it is a complete waste of everybody's time.

The 26 years olds would have spend ages 16-25 under a curfew and would have had to pass a test to get a licence. I would suspect they would learn how to behave in public if they wanted to keep it.

Also my DH is a prison officer in a male prison and most of his colleagues are male. Would the prison just be entirely staffed by females for one night only? Doesn't sound the safest for a men's prison to be dangerously understaffed by only female officers...

Personally I wouldn't much want to encounter a group of 26 year olds who've just aged out of your curfew on the first night out they've ever been allowed to have. Carnage.

This thread is just another example of people refusing to take VAWAG seriously. All the NAMALT/women are just as violent as men/ what about violence against men-don't you care about men/I have sons-they are lovely......and so on and so on. VAWAG is a huge issue. Putting our fingers in our ears and pretending it doesn't happen is must not cutting it.

Almost every dictatorship has begun with imposing a curfew on one section of society or other. Hitler did it to the Jews and look how that went. You are talking about curtailing the freedom of an entire cohort based on nothing more than ‘men are bad’. Not only that you’re advocating a points system to further curtail for bad behaviour - do you really think only men are drunk and disorderly, or otherwise badly behaved ? What’s the equivalent punishment for women behaving the same way ? Utterly ridiculous and unashamed misandry.
