Just the above really. Get that it is really subjective but I am finding that lots of people seem to SHOUT their conversations at each other. It’s really draining. And the shrieking of kids constantly. AIBU? It’s like the shouty ones think everyone needs to hear their business. 🙉
On holiday in Spain right now so it is particularly bad but find the same in UK too. Don’t remember feeling ambient noise was so loud when I was in early 20s (about 20 years ago).

No, people are getting louder. Why they think the rest of us need to listen to their braying and squawking is beyond me.🤷‍♀️

Totally agree with you OP. I’ve come back early from a day out. People seem incapable of talking at a normal level/volume.

Bump.

So…if some people have genuinely become louder (and more obnoxious!!), why do you think this is and can the rest of us do anything about it?!

Judging from the responses here, it is a loud minority ruining the tranquility for a quieter majority…
i wish I had the cojones to say, ‘I beg your pardon but would you please pipe down?’ 😆😆 but I am an introvert really so just try to mind my own business and avoid a scene!

Yanbu
Most people seem to be selfish noisy arseholes
Noise cancelling earpods have been a lifesaver for me

No, People are getting louder. Why they think we all want to hear their foghorn voices and their shrieking kids is beyond me.🤷‍♀️

Both l think.
People shouting in supermarkets to each other just as I'm passing.. it's like a fog horn in my ear.
People shouting to each other in queues.. why not wait until the person is nearer.
Cafes/ restaurants..
Some do it so strangers can hear their business to show off.
But as l get older I've noticed it more.
I've stopped going into stores where the music is far too loud ( and I'm a music lover).

YANBU. So many people carry on as if they're being followed around by an invisible camera crew.
