Ugh. I want to call this out but I don't want to get in trouble. [content warning: sexual assault]

This old (approx 70) man has set himself up as some kind of guru. The one time I went to his flat with my (very vulnerable) friend he gave us loads of alcohol. We were both pretty young and he said we could sleep there. He came on my friend's face and attempted to rape me. I have several other friends he has done this to. One friend woke up to his face between her legs (apologies for the TMI, just making clear how disgusting he is)

There have just over the last few days been multiple posts on SM (from men) praising him as a hero and a guru. It just disgusts me and I worry for other young women falling for his spiel but would I get in trouble for saying this on SM? I have no evidence, it's my word against his.

If you feel you want to report it, please do. But I would stay away from asking or trying to convince anyone else to.

Look after yourself and what you feel you need to do.

Would you be willing to report to the police, that’s the best first step and the most effective way to stop him.

^^

Get some support from a rape crisis centre in your area. They offer therapeutic support or if you want to report, they offer ISVAs.

He sounds vile and prolific.

He needs reporting

MoosakaWithFries · 13/08/2024 18:30

Have you considered reporting this to the police?

HoHoHoliday · 13/08/2024 18:28

Posting about him on social media would be pointless and may cause trouble for you - it would be slanderous. You really need to report him to the police, and encourage your friends who had the same experience to do the same.

LadyMacbethWasMisunderstood · 13/08/2024 18:26

I am very sorry this happened to you. It is far better and safer to report to the police than post on SM which could bring trouble to your door.

nameeCha · 13/08/2024 18:26

Could you anonymously post about him on SM? I don’t use Facebook much but there is a feature on there for this. I really think you should make people aware. There are lots of con people like this and your post might make someone think.

How did you and these women come to be in his company? Trying to understand how the situation came about, not shifting the blame - I just can’t quite envisage how you ended up in his home…

It doesn't matter how they got there.

OP, are you or any of the other victims prepared to go to the police?

Report it to the police.

Sadsadworld · 13/08/2024 18:22

I'm so sorry this happened to you.

If any/all of you feel able, I think police would be best approach.

How old were you, how long ago was this and the other incidents you know about?
Do you mean he's nationally known or what?

ButWhatAboutTheBees · 13/08/2024 18:21

And I mean to the police

Don't post it on SM. You'll open yourself up to all sorts of nasty verbal abuse at the least and it might even affect any further court case because it could be said you influence things.

Report him.

At the very least it will mean that there's a report logged so if he does anything he gets caught for then there's already a report in.

But if you can get lots of those you know to report it then it's a stronger case

Otherwise he's just going to continue to abuse and assault vulnerable people

nocoolnamesleft · 13/08/2024 18:19

Would any of the victims of sexual assault be prepared to go to the police?

StellaCruella · 13/08/2024 18:19

I'm sorry this happened to you and your friends.

How would you feel about going to the police?
