To be worried about Developed Vetting as spouse

OrangeSodaFan · 13/08/2024 14:41

This is a question for people with DV or eDV or their spouses who have been through the process please

I understand they interview the applicant and referees and the referees can’t be partners

Do they interview partners as well as referees and if so do they ask more questions about you as the partner than what is on the original form? Or are they just interested in the spouse who is the applicant when it comes to the questions like what they have been up to

thanks in advance for any pointers or advice finding this all overwhelming! x

Lol at 'professional interrogator'.

How to wind the OP up!

I am sure they are very professional, however we are talking about ex teachers and retired police people here.

I did it for a friend and the guy who interviewed me was like a human lie detector. His eyes bored into my inner soul 😳

dh has DV, I wasn't interviewed but provided identity/nationality details & shared financial stuff - tbh it wasn't much more info than I've provided previously for enhanced security checks.

The people asking the questions (VOs) are professional interrogators. Of course they're nice, that's part of being a professional interrogator.

I’ve never been interviewed for DH’s. Don’t remember ever having had anything to do with it.

Same here

I think there's a guide to DV online aimed at demystifying it. They didn't interview my partner but did a couple of friends.

They will only ask you about the person (they're not clearing you) and are looking for inconsistencies and related vulnerabilities; you can't get it wrong. Also vetting officers are generally very nice, understand people might be nervous and are totally unshockable!

Dp was cleared in the past and dd is now, I only had to go through the lesser process though as she technically lives elsewhere (even though her stuff is here!) Unless you have skeletons there's nothing to worry about

Sorry! Quoted myself instead of you OP.

I think they can interview more or less anyone.
DS has developed vetting and his Dad was interviewed for over an hour. But not me. His school friend was interviewed and they contacted various previous partners but not his current one.

They didn't meet them in person, but they spoke to them on the phone. So maybe just confirming details? I can't be sure.

Notsuchafattynow · 13/08/2024 19:06

I was interviewed as a 'friend' and all my questions were around the other person, nothing about me.

My DH has DV, I had to provide bank statements and some info on nationality but wasn’t interviewed.

That’s really useful to know thank you! I get very anxious about things and want to be prepared
I saw the sample form online and saw it asked about joint finances. I am OK talking about finances but I would feel very nervous talking about my personal life to an interviewer
Did you have to answer any written questions about your personal life?
sorry for all the questions but it’s great to hear from someone who has been through it

Hi
thats interesting that they contacted your DS’s previous partners but not current
Do you know if they interviewed the previous partner or just got them to confirm details? Thanks
