Is it ever ok for your husband to call you a cunt?

Had a bit of an argument with DH last night over text, when he was at work. He was very angry at something VERY minor I had done. Today he relaxed all day (because he’s night shift tonight), so I did everything. Did a supermarket shop, put it all away, loaded dishwasher, unloaded it, emptied all the bins, made a lovely homemade meal. He ignored me all day. He got up from his nap and came downstairs, collected his dinner, said I was a cunt last night and went off. We normally eat dinner together, but I just took my dinner into my little office and ate it there alone. Is it ever ok to call your wife a cunt?

He shouldn’t use that language, do you have kids? It’s not exactly role model language!!! How do you speak to him ? I’ve seen some couples say horrible things to each other… both are wrong, but sometimes on mumsnet I guess you just get half the story..
why does he make you do all the house stuff. That sounds really annoying, I’d not be cooking him
dinner till he makes up for this atrocious behaviour and taking you for granted ..

He does nothing around the house, which was part of the argument last night. I do absolutely everything.

What exactly is the point of him OP?

My dh would only get to call me a cunt once in our marriage

Me too. Luckily it's a word we both agree is beyond the pale.

I'd have tipped his dinner over his head frankly.

He should do more around the house but perhaps he had a bad day.
I wouldn't be too hard in him this time, tho if there's a next time it would need addressed

Next time? My husband's life wouldn't be worth living if he called me that once.

mathanxiety · 12/08/2024 23:44

And he absolutely is normally horrible if he never does a thing around the house.

RogueFemale · 12/08/2024 23:44

So, he got very angry about a minor thing last night. Then sulked all today, did fuck all while you did all the housework and cooked dinner. Then called you a cunt.

He sounds like a prize dick.

mathanxiety · 12/08/2024 23:43

No, and that might be the last home cooked meal he eats for a long time.

DiscoBeat · 12/08/2024 23:39

Absolutely never.

Maybebaby2025 · 12/08/2024 23:34

Not ok but also I’d be more angry about the lack of helping. The swearing is potentially a one off or at least a first (not that that makes it acceptable) whereas the not pulling his weight is presumably a long term thing

My DSis and BIL regularly swear at each other but not in an angry way, more jokey. It’s not for me as I’m not a swearer but I can tell they mean to malice in it.

SleepPrettyDarling · 12/08/2024 23:25

Time for a sit down and firm discussion on what is acceptable. This is not.

NotbloodyGivingupYet · 12/08/2024 23:24

Oh blimey OP what is he for exactly?

ResultsMayVary · 12/08/2024 23:22

By apologetic do you mean he's now promised to step up and do his fair share?

What is his excuse for not contributing?

I'm guessing he's not planning to change - can you start by not doing things for him like cooking his dinner or washing his clothes?

Thoughtsoncunt · 12/08/2024 23:18

Thanks all. Much to think about. He was VERY apologetic before work.

Till the next time. Stop doing everything in the house. He's a capable functioning adult isn't he?

Franjipanl8r · 12/08/2024 23:20

Why are you with a man that treats you like a domestic slave and calls you a cunt?! I don’t know you but I can be sure you deserve better than that.

Baggette · 12/08/2024 23:20

OP, would you ever call him a dick or do you have double standards? I would never use either term. They are both disrespectful (except on MN)

Baggette · 12/08/2024 23:18

I would never use it but neither would I ever call someone a Dick. On here it is fine to use male genitalia as a term of abuse but it is never acceptable to use the term for female genitalia. It is an MN thing.

Sounds like he hates you. And I’m frankly wondering why you don’t hate him too as he himself is in fact, a cunt

Thoughtsoncunt · 12/08/2024 23:05

He’s not normally horrible 😢

Well he sounds horrible. And i suspect he must be pretty vile because you don't just suddenness into someone who says that to their wife.

Rainbowbrite83 · 12/08/2024 23:15

LTB

Greally · 12/08/2024 23:15

I don’t use that word as part of my normal swearing vocab. I know that’s silly but I just hate it and struggle to repeat it.

I would be furious if DH said it about me. To me, it’s such has such a derogatory sound and meaning, I hate it.

Justrolledmyeyesoutloud · 12/08/2024 23:14

Of course it's not ok - he apologised but does he actually feel remorse? I bet he doesn't.
Think you need a family meeting op!
Now is the time to make changes re distribution of household chores because he needs to learn some respect .
Ugh this would really put me off someone.

Newnamehiwhodis · 12/08/2024 23:14

Wow. He’s treating you very poorly. That’s disgusting to me. No, it’s not ok
