To say 3 year old DC is 2 for free theme park entry?

Toddler has just turned 3 and very small for their age.
we are going to a theme park next week. It's free for age 0-2.

DH says we should say DC is 2 so we don't have to pay for them. We will be paying for ourselves and older children.

Do people do this?

I can see how people get away with it as toddlers tend not to carry ID!

I was tall for my age, so had the opposite problem - had bus drivers demanding full bus fare when I was only at primary school. My parents would have been penalised if the height rule had been brought in when I was an infant.

You wouldn't have been penalised though because you would have been able to go on more rides or attractions because you were taller. If you didn't want to go on them then that's fine but you would have had the choice.

The ones being penalised are the older kids who are short who have to pay full ticket price but physically can't go on the rides because they're too short. That's why charging by height not age is more logical.

Good to know 😂@dontstopmenowimhavingagoodtime

Obviously, I only talk for myself. Are you happier knowing now?

Could I ask why it interested you?

Are you doing a study or do you need to question future in laws or something?

I'm really interested to know, because it came across as a sanctimonious, I'm superior comment.

@herecomesthesunyes I stop at armed robbery, but I can't answer for others.

If they're only just 3 chances are they won't be able to do a lot of it anyway, Paultons do it by height rather than age for this reason which I think is better! As you're going with plenty of others paying for entry couldn't get worked up by this.

Do shoplifters become armed robbers?

Do drivers caught over the speed limit become drink drivers!

Do people that cycle on the pavement become cyclists that deliberately drive into people?

Do parents that lie that a three year old is two, become shoplifters?

The answer to all the above is no, not necessarily.

God it's a tedious question.

You’re extrapolating wildly here. That’s not at all what I’m getting at. I’m just interested in the moral cut off point. Oh and don’t answer it if you find it tedious. You’re not required to respond.

herecomesthesunyes · 11/08/2024 17:46

Why are you lot so defensive? I genuinely interested where your moral cut off is.! It’s an interesting topic. Of course it’s not the crime if the century but if it’s ok to lie about your child’s age what else is ok? What’s your cut off? I try not to speed but I’m sure I do go over the limit at times but I am very honest about the sort of stuff we’re talking about. I would never lie for financial gain. Anyway tell
me, I think it’s interesting. What’s ok, what isn’t?

Go for it. Why not help yourself to something from the gift shop too?

@SamW98 of course it does.. it's bloody obvious!

Those that lie about ages. Do you lie about other stuff too? Would you shoplift if you knew you wouldn’t get caught? Or how about claiming for more than was stolen/lost on your insurance?

Sometimes I drive at 33 MPH in a 30 - does that make me on oar with the Krays?

It never dawned on me to use my twins being premature as an excuse. They're 'not really' that old. Is it OK to tell them they can't have their birthday presents in November (actual b'day) but have to wait until January (predicted b'day)? It works both ways, you know.

It really doesn't! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

It's up to the parents.

No we don't

Ok now?

StampOnTheGround · 11/08/2024 17:26

Yeah, we're all hardened criminals because we tell a small lie for a couple of months after a kids birthday. 🙄

I'm sure everyone who wouldn't do this, does do things that others would find questionable.

@BettyBardMacDonald - I'm not going to pay the price for an area he can't use independently because of his height. 😂

Normallynumb · 11/08/2024 17:02

I have with a clear conscience
My DS1 was early and small

dontstopmenowimhavingagoodtime · 11/08/2024 16:50

@BettyBardMacDonald kids like soft play, like they like theme parks.

And one won't get scurvy from saying one's child is younger than they are!

BettyBardMacDonald · 11/08/2024 15:01

StampOnTheGround · 11/08/2024 14:38

Just booked soft play for my 2 year old as an under 2.

I don't feel guilty at all, a 2 year old and a 10 year old being charged the same is ridiculous and the gap of the steps in the toddler bit is so big, my small 2 year old can barely do it on his own.

If you think it's ridiculous, don't patronize that establishment. Cheating them is scurvy. It's not your prerogative to set the prices.

@Girliefriendlikespuppies not at all. I would never have reported someone for breaking Covid rules. I did disapprove of some of the rule breaking but kept my thoughts to myself as I didn’t know individuals’ circumstances. I have a huge amount of sympathy for what lots of people went through during Covid. Awful time.

That doesn’t equate in my mind to lying about a child’s age to benefit financially. You seem to be very defensive about it. If you’re secure in what you’re doing why the lash out to those criticising?

There's a lot of people on this thread who must need a ladder to get off their high horse. I expect it's the same people who would dob their neighbour in if they left their house more than once a day during lockdown.

Rules is rules 🙄

Yep you know they were on the phone ‘officer I don’t like to tell tales but there’s 7 of them in the garden and some of them sitting less than 2 metres apart’
