Made a bolognaise pasta sauce type thing with 1 kg of minced beef steak.
Onions, peppers and mushrooms added.
Have come home from work and DH and DS 18 have polished the bloody lot off leaving me with a measly ladle full of sauce
( pasta was cooked separately for clarification)
They are most of that too
Twats

Greedy. I get 10 portions from that and I'm not a small eater!

mickandrorty · 08/08/2024 17:47

that would feed us 7 (3 adults, 1 teen, 3 younger) with some going back for seconds.

DuckbilledSplatterPuff · 08/08/2024 17:46

Make sure they pay for your takeaway tonight.

Thesecretingredientiscrime · 08/08/2024 17:46

Greedy as fuck and so inconsiderate. Did they leave a decent portion of the pasta? Why couldn't they have bulked up with more of the pasta or some bread on the side? I'd be raging to be left such a measly amount of the meal I'd lovingly prepared for them.
I wouldn't be cooking for them for a long time. And when/if I decided to batch cook something delicious again, any surplus would be going straight into the freezer.

Mince is the new magic chicken I see

I'd bloody expect 1kg of meat and a shit load of veg to serve more than 2 and a half servings 😂

fortheveryfirsttime · 08/08/2024 17:45

They sound like selfish pricks. To not even make sure there was enough for you is just cunty and they'd get such a bollocking.

Bobbotgegrinch · 08/08/2024 17:44

Fleurdalys · 08/08/2024 17:28

Yep 👍

I really really hope you're not going to stand for this. Fuck cooking for them from now on. Sort yourself out and if they ask where their food is say "Oh, I thought it was every man for themselves in this house"

Fleurdalys · 08/08/2024 17:43

Echobelly · 08/08/2024 17:42

That's quite impressive.

DH has been known to take the equivalent of two servings of bolognaise sauce as 'seconds' when I've batch cooked what ought to be enough for 4 of us plus 3-4 servings to freeze, which has annoyed me somewhat.

Exactly!

To be honest what they left for me was enough for me
It's more I was hoping it would feed 3 people tomorrow too!

Anyway, they make cheese, ham salad wraps every morning at 6 am to take to work
I've frozen every bloody wrap in the house
Good luck with that at 6am

Wow-I use 500g mince and that feeds 6 of us for two separate meals. That’s a huge amount of food. And yes I have boy teenagers in that mix

Turophilic · 08/08/2024 17:40

Greedy bastards!

DH will do this if left to his own devices - an amount of meat I think should serve 3-4 can disappear.

When I serve it up it’s 1/4 meat, 1/2 veg, 1/4 carb on the plate, with extra carbs added as required to fill them up if they’re particularly hungry. DH and DS2 can eat a meal that’s 3/4 meat if not told to sod off.

How the hell they think we can afford to eat with that level of meat or fish consumption I do not know.

I once cooked an entire side of salmon, left it in the oven and went for a shower. It was to be mixed with quinoa, veg and portioned out for a week. Came downstairs and my OH was finishing it off. The whole.bloody thing. He doesn't like salmon much. If I am cooking I need to be there at plating up or he would eat everything - literally everything in the pans or in the oven. It's insane.

How does he even eat like that?

Just stand there with a fork or continually goes back up with a plate til there's nothing left??

I don't understand how anyone stands in front of a family meal in pots and thinks yep that's all for me! That is ludicrous!

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 08/08/2024 17:33

DH eats like this but he would never not leave me a decent portion and get off his arse as soon as I appeared to cook me the pasta to go with it if he and the kids hadn't waited for me [also unheard of unless I am very late with work].

I'd be sending them out to the supermarket to get the ingredients to replace it and ordering their favourite takeaway and not sharing an ounce of it.

That's really disrespectful and selfish. And greedy.

MissyB1 · 08/08/2024 17:32

AFmammaG · 08/08/2024 17:23

It’s not how much they ate that makes them greedy, it’s not leaving any for you that does.

I disagree, half a kilo of mince for one person is greedy. It's over eating, it wasn't like it was their only meal of the day!

FixTheBone · 08/08/2024 17:32

AFmammaG · 08/08/2024 17:23

It’s not how much they ate that makes them greedy, it’s not leaving any for you that does.

Its both.

Its greedy and inconsiderate to not leave you any, but it's frankly gluttonous to eat at least 10 persons worth of food between the two of them.

I do spag bol with 500g + veg and it easily feeds 6-7 with portions left for the next day.

Omg, at what point would any sane person consider that’s for them?!

user1471538283 · 08/08/2024 17:30

My bf and DS eat like horses. That is alot of food. But the bit that I would be upset about is they didn't leave enough for you. They could have set aside your portion and shared the rest. It's rude not to.

Order a delivery and don't make anything for them again.

Tagyoureit · 08/08/2024 17:30

AFmammaG · 08/08/2024 17:23

It's definitely this!!

Sometimes, we can just be ravenous and eat but they didn't dish you up a good portion before helping themselves to seconds, thirds etc which is the greedy part!

Flossyts · 08/08/2024 17:30

I use 500g to make for our family of 5. That was a large amount of food to eat. How rude of them when they had no part in making it. I hope they apologise profusely.

This is precisely the kind of incident that leads me to "hide" half my batch-cooking either in a different container in the fridge or straight into the freezer.
You are not unreasonable to be furious, but learn from this and outsmart the greedy pigs next time.
