I probably am being unreasonable however I'm on here primarily for female perspectives.

They were quoting your faux pas….

@Smithhy no they weren't as I had already immediately quoted and corrected my "faux pas" myself. But crack on being an apologist for sexist remarks

They were quoting your faux pas….

To be fair to OP, it was a stupid joke and I probably shouldn't have made it. I've seen plenty of women on here make similar jokes, but it takes on a different tone when a man does it so I apologise for that @Moonshine5

Smithhy · 08/08/2024 11:58

Moonshine5 · 08/08/2024 10:42

I never said woman free.
Also it rather proves a point of other posters when the only sexual reference in the thread is by a man

You would find it hard to get women only on a free membership forum. Also, is anonymous and inclusive. I find that some women hate men a bit too much in here. To an extent that is unhealthy. I am not saying this is you particularly. However, some of the comments are very uncomfortable. I guess other mothers of boys would find that uncomfortable too.

There it is again. You can't help yourself.

Think of it what you will. Either you have high blood-pressure or you have a habit of posting when you haven’t eaten and you get hangry.

baroqueandblue · 08/08/2024 09:40

RainyWoodland · 08/08/2024 09:39

I am not interested in diminishing you, you do sound as though you have chronic irritability, which I would assume means high blood-pressure.

My blood pressure is fine, it's your need to diminish others to make yourself feel more secure that's off the scale.

It really isn’t. But you should get your blood-pressure checked, since you can’t tell.

This bothers me more tbh. Men or women giving others advice on parenting when they have no children themselves…

I agree, it is so easy to judge and give ill-informed advice when you aren’t in the thick of it.

ApplesOrangesBananas · 08/08/2024 09:35

xsquared · 08/08/2024 00:08

There's plenty of childfree posters on here too.

Despite the site being "by parents for parents", you don't need to be one to contribute to most threads.

Perhaps Mumsnet should undergo a rebranding similar to Twitter/x.

Any suggestions?

So if you don't want to ban (or bang!) men what do you want to happen?

Have some kind of lottery or selection process so only certain men are allowed to post?

It's was a personal observation that I was reflecting on and I put it out there too see if others had noticed, which they clearly had.
Thanks for the sexual innuendo, I mean seriously 😂so predictable !!

Fair enough, I'll bow to your expertise then, because your original post is the very definition of hyperbole!

I think there should be talk guidelines and deletions for voyeuristic, sexually harassing content, and contents which seem intent on making parents’/mothers’ lives harder - ie - people who are here to hinder, not help.

Well I am a man, hetero, have no children, live alone (with a cat), am 55 years old.

I find Mumset a great place for advice and info about all sorts of things (recently found some info about my new washing machine) and entertainment - AIBU is a daily visit.

I never visit the sex threads or offer advice on problems I know nothing about. I have offered some advice on writing, mental health and alcoholism (which I unfortunately know a lot about).

So I'm probably not the sort of 'problem man' the OP is concerned about.

Expect I will be lambasted for posting this - but just wanted to put across the perspective of a man who is not a sex-obsessed, arrogant, mansplaining, creepo creep.

Thank you and you are very much correct @Jevarakh

I've noticed it lately too and tbh what is being posted by men lately is self serving garbage. The replies aren't exactly supportive and I don't support what they are saying either. It's all sex and relationship stuff. This is predominantly a mums forum (hence the name) mums are not going to side with you telling us you think you married the wrong person because she won't have sex with you 3000 times a week..jog on.

So true. There seems to be a plethora of husbands on here complaining about their wives lately, while painting themselves as perfect husbands/ fathers.

I'm not sure why they think they're going to get much sympathy on Mumsnet, why not talk to their mates instead. Many women will roll their eyes having dealt with their own inadequate husbands.

Jevarakh · 08/08/2024 09:29

Fluufer · 08/08/2024 09:13

You've announced your maleness and gone on a NAMALT rant. You are the men OP is talking about.

Wow OK, I'm told.

I do have an issue with bad men being here.

I did not say Not All Men Are Like That - sorry if that's how I came across!

I wasn't trying to 'promote' myself. And that was hardly a 'rant'.

I knew I shouldn't have posted anything!

I'll shut up now and stop digging. But won't go away!

Happy days.

So one person challenges your paranoid ravings and you immediately move to shut them down by undermining their fundamental means for doing that.

Are you a man?!

You are being rather hyperbolic. You should get your blood-pressure checked.

Please read the title " too many... recently' not banging men"

Sausagenbacon · 08/08/2024 09:27

I'm on here a lot, and I very rarely see posters who say there are men.
And, if they don't, how would I know?

What I DO have a problem with are all the stupid posters who I disagree with.
They should be banned.

Stringagal · 08/08/2024 09:27

invisiblecat · 07/08/2024 23:03

If you are asking for recipes, have ingrowing toenails, need advice about estate agents, your cat has gone into labour in your airing cupboard, you have just been made redundant, your relative has died, your dog has eaten chocolate, you need to know a good hotel near the airport in Madrid or you baby just won't sleep, why on Earth would it matter?

Perfect response!

I don’t notice or care who posts here, I don’t look at usernames or keep tabs on who says what. I have the relationships board hidden though, maybe it’s more obvious over there.

I know two dads who use this site for parenting advice, both don’t have mums for their kids. I don’t see why they shouldn’t be here.

Flumpie59 · 08/08/2024 09:27

Thank you, Jevarakh for being a gentleman!

You have a cat? OOOHHHH! Hubby and I have little Wopsie, a tabby and she's gorgeous!

Have a brilliant day whatever you're doing!

Moonshine5 · 08/08/2024 09:27

savoycabbage · 08/08/2024 08:36

I don't think anyone wants no men!

But there is definitely an influx of men posting about how their wives don't want to shag them anymore even though they take the bins out and he knows to not him that is the problem because the new girl at work, Ellie, she likes his jokes.

This 👏
