Not everyone works 9-5 Monday to Friday.

But even if that is true, don't you have to do other things to do in your time off work?

Looking after your kids, cooking, cleaning, life admin, gym? Or maybe just relaxing and watching Netflix?

Aren't these nicer activities rather than bashing in a migrant hotel?

I couldn't muster up the energy to do what they do after a hard day's work.

One of the most depressing things about the riots is that after reports of police behaviour in recent years , there will be a contingent of them who love a riot and probably enjoy that they get get to be involved in a "legitimate" way.

Absolutely not condoning rioters or saying that all police are like that but it just struck me that a proportion of the people we're trusting to control and calm the situation , probably have a similar mentality to the instigators....

The would be domestic terrorists have to sleep off their hangovers, go and see their cocaine dealers and then get pissed up again before they have the courage to call names at police officers.

There are more options beyond "eradicate" and "serve refreshments to".

Nothing wrong with ranting about violent thugs but now you've got people calling them "scroungers" so that means anyone who is unemployed for whatever reason is a "scrounger?" Demonising benefit claimants isn't the way to go.

If they’ve got jobs at the moment, I’m sure they won’t when they have to take time out for their prison stay.

My highlight is how they moan Muslims are taking their jobs, because people who think saving kids is looting a steak bake and robbing bath bombs are ever going to become doctors. There will be rioters who can't tie their shoelaces, the audacity to complain about anyone, ever, is shocking.

I'm not saying every rioter is unemployed, just that they're not going to be people I'd happily let remove my appendix unlike my last surgeon who was Muslim.

YABU for wanting to eradicate any person. The eradication of any group of people is despicable and abhorrent, if you want to fall as low as the nazis on you go. And yes, the rioters are absolutely no better but that doesn’t mean you should be out there promoting violence too.

If you read some of the comments on my local newspaper site from people that share similar views, they seem to have a lot of time on their hands too, judging the sheer volume of comments and times of posting.

They are racist thugs - that is the problem here. A racist thug is a racist thug regardless of whether they are unemployed or earning £100k.

Those who are saying that they can't possibly have ever had a job are trying to other them, because it's more comfortable to tell ourselves that we don't have large numbers of racist thugs participating in normal UK society.

Well we do, and most of them will be people you interact with in everyday life. The joiner who fitted your door, the estate agent who sold your house, the sales person who sold you your car, the retail worker in a shop you visit....

Looking at what local convicted football hooligans have done for a living (from the local paper) they have been factory machinists, coach makers, estate agents, builders. Looking in street view at the roads they live on, they are all reasonable-looking owner-occupied 3 bed semis.

In my line of work it would be instant dismissal for gross misconduct. Totally agree benefits should be stopped for those who should be actively seeking work . I am not a benefit basher but many of the people rioting have the brain capacity of an amoeba and would struggle to get a job .
