AIBU to think that men who pee in public are disgusting and should be heavily fined?

I work in central London, the entrance to my office is on a small secluded side street, and it is an unusual week when I don't run into one man or another who has nipped into the street to have a pee, despite there being an open pub opposite and public loos 2 mins away. On my way home tonight, waiting to get the lift from the tube platform to the ticket hall, yet another guy whipped his dick out and had a pee onto the doorframe of the lift. When I pointed out we were yards from a public loo, he said "I have a weak bladder", and laughed.

You know who else has a weak bladder? Half the other middle-aged women I know. And yet we (usually) refrain from peeing in the street next to strangers.

All these men with their dicks in their hands will then go on to touch lift buttons, handrails, touch pads, etc.

Oh how I want them all to be arrested and given enormous fines. I am so sick of it.

I bet no one's seen this before. I was on the tube going into London the other day when I noticed a guy get up and stand by the door facing into the corner. There was then a very loud, and very very long, sound of pouring, and I realised he was peeing into his child's bucket (a sandcastle bucket). I couldn't believe it. He (eventually) zipped himself up, hooked the bucket onto the pushchair handle, and sat back down with his child, while I just hoped the tube didn't do a sudden stop and spill the contents of the bucket everywhere.

Police used to report people who we’ed in the street as it is an offence. One of the many public order offences that they’ve forgotten about!

I've got a terrible overactive bladder and have been known to use a bush when desperate. And I mean completely hidden away and not seen. Certainly wouldn't dream of doing it in plain sight on the street! Also always tena'd up to my eyeballs when going out as always wondering if there's a toilet near. Really affects my life and stops me from going out.
I can confirm over 20 yrs ago desperate for a wee after a night out, was about 3am in the morning and no toilets/fast food open and needed a wee, I went behind a bush out of sight. A policeman (obviously a quiet night) asked me what I'd just done and I was completely honest, went for a wee. He didn't see, I wasn't drunk, tipsy, and wasn't exposed. Got an £80 fixed penalty for it. When I told my dad years after (I was so ashamed!) he said he didn't think it would of been right for a single police officer to off followed a young woman like that but who knows!
I'd never and have never been in trouble with the police and was petrified! Even had to ask if it would exclude me from teacher training. Only told my mum a few years ago 😂
Oh to be able to pee in a bottle! Men have it so easy!

I agree. I find it awful and it absolutely stinks. I work in Manchester and around the town hall regularly gets used as an open air urinal despite public toilets being just there and open 24 hours (close at 4pm for an hour's cleaning then reopen). There's wooden hoarding around the town hall and it smells of man piss, despite being hosed down every single morning, the piss has just totally soaked in to the wood and also the stonework of the buildings which smells delightful on sunny days like we had recently. It is absolutely unacceptable. I had two massive babies, my pelvic floor is like a knackered hammock and I still manage to not piss in the streets because I have some sense of dignity

Oh God, I’m cackling at your last sentence 😂You’re an absolute poet!

There'll be various people along shortly to tell you that it's quite acceptable and it's all the councils' fault for not providing public conveniences.

Seems in the length of time it took me to type the post....

I think it would be an absolute crime to start putting men caught peeing in public on the sex offenders register. If any man can say 'oh I was just pissing in a bush' and it becomes a believable reason to be on the register at all then there's literally no point in it. It also means police disclosures to women could be lied about, as they don't give the exact details of the crime. If a man is a known sex offender but it's reduced to meaning he might have just pissed in an ally when he was 18 on his way home from a nightclub it belittles abs invalidates it.

I do agree when public toilets are nearby etc then it's absolutely no excuse. But in a lot of arrears councils have cut funding and closed public toilets, in these places of course there will be piss in random alleys and parks, because people need to use the toilet. We should encourage councils to make them more available. A lot of narrative was that as part of business licensing that businesses would pick up the slack but often they are 'customer toilets' which means you have to buy something. A lot of people don't want to waste money and don't have time to buy something. A pub in the example given id particularly bad as you likely know a drink kill just make you need to pee again and could take you a few minutes to drink.

I have no idea if this was true but there was a story when I was at uni about one of the students who had peed in the street and been charged with urinating/masturbating in public and threatened with the sex offenders register. I suspect if the police took this approach it might reduce the incidence quite a lot

I was just saying this today. Disgusting.

CosmicDaisyChain · 06/08/2024 20:42

I know it's far less frequent but I was walking my dog the other evening and turned a corner to find a woman squatting by a wall with her arse sticking out of her trousers pissing on the pavement. God knows what she had been drinking but it was like a ruptured water main running across the footpath. I was so stunned I couldn't believe I was seeing it. But yes men are far more likely to piss in the street.

LlynTegid · 06/08/2024 20:32

I would like them to have more than just a fine. I bet many are on a good income and denying them their summer holiday abroad for a couple of years would be a better sentence.

Bonjovispjs · 06/08/2024 20:32

Yep, it's a daily event opposite my flat, men are just revolting 🤢
