AIBU to think that men who pee in public are disgusting and should be heavily fined?

I work in central London, the entrance to my office is on a small secluded side street, and it is an unusual week when I don't run into one man or another who has nipped into the street to have a pee, despite there being an open pub opposite and public loos 2 mins away. On my way home tonight, waiting to get the lift from the tube platform to the ticket hall, yet another guy whipped his dick out and had a pee onto the doorframe of the lift. When I pointed out we were yards from a public loo, he said "I have a weak bladder", and laughed.

You know who else has a weak bladder? Half the other middle-aged women I know. And yet we (usually) refrain from peeing in the street next to strangers.

All these men with their dicks in their hands will then go on to touch lift buttons, handrails, touch pads, etc.

Oh how I want them all to be arrested and given enormous fines. I am so sick of it.

If it is clear that a person (male or female) having been "caught out" has gone into bushes or similar to do it (so hidden), and there are no alternatives, then I am fine with it. If it is lazy drunkards (men or women) pissing in lifts, doorways or any other convenient place for them, then I am not fine with it. I would also be absolutely fine with traffic jams or unexpected events, either gender. I think every situation is different and should be judged as such.

I agree with this.

I’m kinda jealous of how easy men have it when caught short. We got stuck for several hours due to a jack knifed lorry on a snowy road. Saw quite a few men jump out of their vehicles and run into the trees at the side of the road. I was trying to think how I could go discreetly, luckily we managed to turn round and go back to wherever started where it was less snowy. On nights out a lot of blokes would disappear at certain points on our walks home, the girls just had to hold it in.

I appreciate that a lot of elderly men develop prostrate issues, but I do sometimes wonder if the prevalence of male urinary incontinence in old age is contributed to at all by a lot of men never feeling they need to learn to hold it for more than a moment or two in earlier life.

I was at a roundabout feeding onto the motorway in my car when a man got out of his car rights near me and proceeded to do a wee in full view of all the cars waiting for the lights to change. Then the car he was a passenger in had to wait for him on the slip road hard shoulder.

I've been known to wee up secluded alleys etc. I've quite a sensitive bladder and if I think about it too much then I need to go. I once did a wee at night in a quiet lane behind a parked car only to hear noise from within the car from what I guessed was a canoodling couple in the car. I beat a hasty retreat

Criminal offense in Scotland

This explains why we saw no less than 3 men in the space of 5 days doing it when we were down in England a few weeks ago. One of them was a contractor who did it a few feet away from our caravan. Fucking animals.

Mischance · 08/08/2024 11:33

I was once peeing in a hedge-lined ditch by an autobahn - totally out of sight of the cars passing. But ...... a coach went by - much taller - the passengers gave me a wave!!!

Anyotherdude · 08/08/2024 11:24

It is awful but amazingly there is no general law about it. Instead it’s left up to Local Authorities, according to the UK zGovernment website:

“Penalties for public urination is usually included in the by-laws of individual local authorities under section 235 of the Local Government Act 1972.”

Ponoka7 · 08/08/2024 11:22

There are fines and the laws to deal with it. There just isn't anyone to enforce them.

I bought a shewee but couldn't get the hang if it in the privacy of my own shower room.
Has anyone ever managed a clear and clean outdoor wee in trousers using one ? I would love to learn the knack.

Well I certainly haven't got the knack.

I got one a few years back. I practiced in the toilet at home with nothing on and it seemed successful. But the first (and only) time I tried fully dressed I ended up having to have a complete change of clothes. Thankfully this was still at home by way of a practice and not out in the field, as it were.

Dh has urinated out and about but on country walks etc where he goes off the path, tries his very best to be away from anyone who might pass. Sometimes I have had to do the same. Never ideal but sometimes needs must.

I really think some men who do it very publicly like the exposure, they get a thrill out of the chance of someone seeing their penis in the street the same way men who just expose themselves do.

You sound exactly like us. DH and I (both in our 60s) do a lot of country walks and quite often DH will announce that he has to go and examine the back of that tree or this dry stone wall for a bit. Obviously he makes sure first that nobody is about and I am usually instructed to keep watch for anyone approaching.

Less often, but not unusually, I have to do similar. But I tend to require even denser cover before I feel safe to do so. I can think of only once where I nearly came unstuck. I was absolutely desperate and went in to a passing place on a quiet country lane where there was a large bush which I thought shielded me from view. Sod's Law I was just starting when two cars came from opposite directions and one needed to pull in to the passing place!

My local parkrun doesn't have nearby toilets (which is clearly indicated on the website site and in emails)

They have to have pee patrol to dissuade people from peeing at the back of the houses by the park, as the householders obviously object to such behaviour. Puts the parkrun at risk if they're not prevented.

Mostly men as far as I know.

The women I know who have weak bladders avoid that parkrun

Yes I always check parkrun websites to ensure there are loos around, or close by!

New Year's Day and Christmas Day parkruns can be an issue when the loos are closed, fortunately my local parkrun can open the loos.

There'll be various people along shortly to tell you that it's quite acceptable and it's all the councils' fault for not providing public conveniences.

Seems in the length of time it took me to type the post....

Edited

Well maybe local councils COULD provide public conveniences!

It's disgusting when it's done in an urban environment and stinks the place out, but behind a bush in the countryside - meh.

Get a she wee type thing and go somewhere discreet if you absolutely must

You're not being unreasonable, but they wouldn't be washing their hands even if they'd bothered going in the public toilets.

You aren't wrong. In my office building the women's loos have to refill the soap all the time. The men's loos get through very little.

I am shocked at the posters who are making excuses for the dirty bastards pissing in the street!!

There is NO reason at all that a person needs to do this...in 60 years on this planet, I've NEVER pissed on the street (or anywhere else 'alfresco'). And there have been times when I have been in literal pain due to needing to go...but still managed to maintain my dignity and sense of public decency, and wait until I found a toilet!

Men who whip out their knob and pee publicly need it chopping off - or at least fining, if chopping it off isn't palatable!

I'm totally fed up of walking past stinking piss on the streets! It's disgusting...THEY are disgusting! 🤢

Grateeggspectations · 07/08/2024 13:30

Yep. But also fine for spitting in anywhere other than a handkerchief

longdistanceclaraclara · 07/08/2024 13:25

It's grim. As are the Uber drivers who park up at the end of my road and toss bottles of piss out of the car.

henlake7 · 07/08/2024 13:22

Not unreasonable at all. People who pee in obviously public places should be charged and made to do community service cleaning up all the piss and shit covered alleyways in the area!
There is a difference between being caught short and having to find somewhere somewhat private and just pissing in the street like you are puppy who hasnt been house trained.

On my way to work last night I had to squeeze past a group of teens who were sat on the end of a footbridge, one of the lads was pissing off the side and actually singing about how people could see his knob!
I really wanted to smack him with a rolled up newspaper and rub his nose in it!!

OnlyFrench · 07/08/2024 12:48

I have a gîte with a beautiful courtyard. Went to do a changeover last summer and it was clear one of the occupants had been peeing against the wall.

Also saw a fruit picker peeing against the side of a portaloo.

Disgusting. What i also hate seeing are those blokes who walk around with their hand down their trousers! Not the ones in suits/jeans but tracky bottoms. I mean obviously their only scratching their inside of their leg!?! 😒 Why do they think thats acceptable?! I dont walk around with my hand up my vag. Anyway, ive started slowing down in my car so they notice me, and pulling a disgusted face, they soon get it and detach their hand from the knob/balls area and out the trousers

I'm male. There's a difference between male and female behaviour that doesn't reflect well on us.

I went with a group of friends to an evening football match, struggling through bad traffic. Arriving late, we were directed into overflow parking in a field. The (male) driver J. had been desperate for some time and once parked jumped out of the car and immediately started peeing next to it. Problem was, other cars were still arriving and one pulled up next to us occupied by a respectable looking couple in their 50s. J. had his back to them but looked over his shoulder and started apologising nearly as profusely as he was urinating "sorry, sorry, I know it's bad of me, we've been on the road for hours" etc.

The man of the couple looked annoyed. The woman looked stressed and uncomfortable and I understood why when she said "it's OK, I'm nearly doing the same myself". She went to head towards the stadium then changed her mind and turned, ran in the opposite direction and ducked down among the rows of already-parked cars.

There would be people who would say both my friend J. and this woman were wrong, they both peed in public. I think there's a difference. He did apologise when caught, but she managed to control herself for one more minute so that she could hide. One more minute, it's not much of an effort is it?

EmpressaurusDeiGatti · 07/08/2024 11:23

Put a notice up where it’s happening, @ArcheryAnnie. ‘If you’re peeing here, ask your parents about toilet training.’

It’s perfectly easy to use the toilets in a busy pub without buying anything. Nobody notices.
