I have asked before... I am now asking again... mumsnetters, what are you having for lunch?

I had white rice with curried lentils, spicy cabbage, and chutney. I wish I had some sweet treats in but I don't so will probably eat a spoon of jam.

Soup. This thread has just reminded me to take it out the freezer!

I took sweet potato and red pepper soup out of the freezer to have for lunch today.

Black olive ciabatta toasted, with feta crumbled on top. Cherry tomatoes.

No a Sainsbury's one, Arla brand I think it was. Pretty tasty. I like the Morrisons ones too! Is the Lidl one good?

I quite like it, but my standards for chocolate pudding are pretty low Grin

Brilliant, thank you, I will give this a go!

You may want to adjust the spice level to your own taste. I just sort of shake it in because I know roughly how much it should look like in the pan.

Hope you enjoy if you try it. 😊

Crispy potato salad and the 4 heck chicken sausages that need using up today

Red onion fried with 3 or 4 diced skinless chicken thighs. Add a couple of crushed garlic cloves and a teaspoon or so of ground coriander and of smoked paprika with a knob of butter. Then stir in a heaped tablespoon of flour followed by a good dollop of tomato puree and a stock cube and water (around 250 - 300 ml, probably). Add tinned sweetcorn and beans (I usually use black beans or red kidney beans, but another sort world be fine. Simmer until thickened and serve with rice. Or on a jacket potato.

Brilliant, thank you, I will give this a go!

This sounds good - do you have a recipe to share please?

Cheese and onion toasted sandwich with some apple slices. And a glass of water.

This made me chuckle as the MN thread that lives rent free in my mind is the thread a few weeks ago where posters were judging people who drank 'too much' water. You had a whole glass of water?? Nobody could possibly need a whole glass at lunch you filthy Gen X-er Grin

I also had a glass of water, with a nectarine and chicken salad with courgettes and crispy onions.

My children ate cold Japanese Summer noodles.
My Husband ate a banana, and then left for the gym.
I ate about 12 heaped teaspoons of Nutella in the kitchen in between reorganising cupboards and realising that no amount of storage solutions seem to be helping in my tiny kitchen!

funnyoldonion · 06/08/2024 16:16

Last day on holiday in Turkey - I had a beef brisket burger, Parmesan fries and a beer at the beach shack!

Leftover spicy chicken stew with black beans and sweetcorn and some brown rice. I forgot the little tub of cheese that was supposed to go with it though.

This sounds good - do you have a recipe to share please?

A hard boiled egg, cucumber and carrot sticks and a babybel light.

A wrap filled with a chicken breast, chopped tomatoes, caesar dressing and a bag of sunchips crunched up inside. And a chocolate protein pudding thing.

M&S prawn layered salad, and a bag of their salted popped chips, plus some of my toddlers ham sandwich

PruneInTheNest · 06/08/2024 16:02

There was a small portion of macaroni cheese left in the fridge that I cooked yesterday for dinner. So I had that with lettuce, cucumber and olives on the side.

BitOutOfPractice · 06/08/2024 15:58

Yep @Westfacing im shameless, shameless I tell ya!

Westfacing · 06/08/2024 15:56

BitOutOfPractice · 06/08/2024 15:54

@Westfacing if I told you a couple of roast parsnips also sneaked into my lunchbox, would you be even more impressed?

Edited

Oh, now you're just showing off!

WiddlinDiddlin · 06/08/2024 15:55

Half a pepper, a big blob of Morrisons moroccan style hummus, couple of ryvita crackerbreads and I was going to have a nectarine but it seems to have gone from rock hard to rotten since I looked at it this morning, so no nectarine for me.
