To want my leg of lamb back?

Whacky neighbour strikes again.

She is a nice woman. A bit eccentric.

She saw a dog roaming the estate and thought it was mine. It wasn't. She panicked, she said, and reached for my door and went in, shouting my name

My actual dog, a very low prey drive GH, approached her wagging. Luckily, he didn't see her as a threat and harm her.

My neighbour said she panicked then and tried a dog treat but the roaming dog wasn't interested. She then went into my fridge and got out a LEG OF LAMB 😒

She is seen on video camera attached to the house, waving down the dog with the leg of lamb in hand, waving it like she is in Ollivander's wand shop

The dog wonders off elsewhere and she's seen again throwing the leg of lamb into the nearby hedges.

AIBU to want it back or paid for? Or is she too unhinged to ask this? Not sure what to do. She has posted a picture of the dog on the estate FB group. No claims for the dog yet... who on footage and in her photo, is not a GH. It's very clearly a tiny terrier type 🙄

As I say, she is a really friendly neighbour but somewhat OTT, dramatic and loud. She has a 19 year old daughter who is lovely. And a polite and very normal 15 year old son. Both nothing like her loud and overly familiar ways

My door was left open by me as I had run 3 doors down to give my lovely neighbour some bits I was passing onto her

I have no idea why she would lie or try and enter my house. She genuinely looked like she was trying to get the dog

You do seem to be quite unfortunate with your neighbours.

One thinks the shopping you did for her was a gift.
The other thinks it's fine to raid your fridge where there just happens to be a leg of lamb waiting for her to tempt a stray dog.

Can we have the address just so we can avoid when relocating?

Same poster?

Wow, that is some bad luck 😮 Hopefully she doesn't have a communal fridge as well...unless her wacky neighbour thought they did.

I think the key question is, is the lamb still in the hedge.

Or was it all a cunning ploy to steal your lamb in plain sight?

And is it the same hedge the neighbours keep having sex in?

Fraaahnces · 04/08/2024 08:28

Surely she just nicked the bloody lamb..,

Wot, no booze for the turtle?

Nope she is tortoisetotal, the booze is for me

gentileschi · 03/08/2024 22:20

Please put the video of her waving the lamb leg on TikTok with an accompanying story. Maybe you'll get enough likes to earn a leg of lamb (no idea how people make money on it, I just want to see the footage).

Weird @vodkaredbullgirl thanks for letting me know

Have either of you been reading Roald Dahls "Lamb to the Slaughter" or picking mushrooms?
Bwaha ha ha😂

Exactly what I was thinking!

I hadn't seen this post when I wrote mine, glad to see other fans of TotU on here!

Well then it was an instant moment of complete synchronicity.❤

MooonDreamz · 03/08/2024 21:16

I think she was out of order and yes you should ask. even if your door was unlocked presumably it was closed, she was wrong to thing the dog was yours and shouldn't have just walked into your house!

Retaliate buy going to hers and tempting a neighbours cat with a side of salmon and throwing it in the village fish pond.

As a warning to the local fish? The Codfather

How odd. op I think you've been fleeced. The shear nerve of it. I wouldn't gambol on getting your money back. Baaaad luck.

I've had a rubbish day but this thread has made me LOL so much my husband thinks I'm using proscribed substances.

This is where the OP messed up her continuity in the series of Whacky Neighbours.

Here, she says 'Whacky neighbour strikes again'.
When someone challenged her on ' You've another thread you started yesterday about a neighbour' the OP came back with 'That was a different one.'

So, sadly, she needs to get her story straight.

Don't think this will make Netflix, sadly. Not without a lot of work.

I really want to see the other thread now!

Maybe this is a series and we might have a post about a different neighbour tomorrow?

OP could come home and find her neighbour in her bath or trying on her best frocks.

You are correct though that some continuity issues need working on first.

vodkaredbullgirl · 03/08/2024 21:06

This thread is mint 😁

Cherrysoup · 03/08/2024 21:01

wtaf am I reading?! Is this for real? If so, as a pp says, she owes you the money for the lamb toot sweet! Coming into your house is extremely odd. Not locking your door is really odd, even if only going 3 doors down.

Was the lamb wrapped? Could it not be retrieved?

JudgeJ · 03/08/2024 21:01

MummyLongLegsss · 03/08/2024 20:31

Could this be a Midsomer Murder or Vera?

Pretty certain it was one of the Tales of the Unexpected, the Roald Dahl series, much earlier that Midsomer Murders and Vera.
