just curious really. DH and I have never done this, and I wondered if that is the norm?

TheChosenTwo · 03/08/2024 16:24

No, I don’t need to know where dh is at all times and vice versa.

Commonsense22 · 03/08/2024 16:22

Yes and it's really helpful. I'd say why on earth not? I guess if one partner has control issues then it's dangerous.

Started when I had an accident and phoned dh in shock not managing to explain where I was.

Namechangejust · 03/08/2024 16:19

Absolutely not..just why?

fuckyourpronouns · 03/08/2024 16:18

Absolutely not. I did once, innocently because I didn't really think anything of it. I didn't stop sharing my location and what resulted was several months later my husband questioning me about why I was somewhere that he wasn't aware of because he checked my location

There was a perfectly good reason for it, and it was totally innocent however he had no right to check my location and it's an invasion of my privacy. So it stopped.

IMO the sharing of locations has become normalised and we're turning into a security state. I don't like it.

Corsicanna · 03/08/2024 16:18

We do with our whole family including family abroad.

klienental · 03/08/2024 16:18

Yes we do so when one is out or on the way back from work the other knows when to start cooking dinner😂

Chickendinner24 · 03/08/2024 16:18

Hell no! I don't want anyone tracking me. In certain circumstances we might share live location for an hour etc. It's really weird and unnecessary, and if it's normal for you, then it shouldn't be.

FeelingLikeABelugaWhale · 03/08/2024 16:18

We do because the kids are on it too.

However, my husband and I rarely look at each others.

If we want to let the other know when we will be home for dinner, then we do the old fashioned thing and ring or message!

We do. Dont use it much but it’s come in handy if I’m on the way home and DP can see where I am to start getting dinner ready, lol.

Yeah that's handy

summerdazey · 03/08/2024 16:17

I do - he frequently drives long distances

Couldyounot · 03/08/2024 16:17

Yep, plus DS1 (18). Useful for ETA and "sorry, you want picking up where??" purposes

AutumnChild99 · 03/08/2024 16:16

No, only if there's a particular reason to (e.g. travelling) and always initiated by the one sharing their location, not the other.

Waaaaaahh · 03/08/2024 16:16

StormingNorman · 03/08/2024 16:07

No. It’s never come up tbh.

We started using it when dd started to walk home from school on her own. She was supposed to send me a text when she got home but after a couple of weeks she kept forgetting so we stayed using find my phone instead.

Then I started asking her to look to see where dh was so I could start dinner and then we shared our locations with each other too.

Calamitousness · 03/08/2024 16:15

Yes we do. It’s useful if I get lost and I don’t want to rely on just sat nav. He can talk me through where I’m going in real time. I can see where he is when he’s out and know when he’ll be home etc. very handy. It’s not intrusive because we are married and don’t have any secrets.

Mrsttcno1 · 03/08/2024 16:15

We all have each other on the Find My Friend app for iphone, so I have my husband, my parents, my sister and most of my friends on there🤣

Noimaginationforaun · 03/08/2024 16:15

Yes we do. It’s useful - I leave from work and he gets tea on. He does call outs and gets called out in the tiny hours and I like to see that he’s ok (intrusive, 2am ‘but what if he has a crash!’ thoughts). It’s not something we use frequently but it’s handy to have on!

No. I'm not sure where he is right now - a beer festival but I can't remember which one :-)

CaptainCabinets · 03/08/2024 16:13

Nope, only time I share my live location with anyone is if we are planning to meet somewhere, or if it is in the interest of safety to do so. For example, I might consider open location sharing if DP or I decided to climb a mountain alone. My best friend shares hers with me when she travels alone for work as it makes her (and I suppose me!) feel safer to know that I would call her if anything about her location looked unusual.

Other than that, I don’t feel the need to check if DP is having a pint on the way home, and he doesn’t need to know if I’ve treated myself to a takeaway without offering him anything 😉

Same, I don’t know what use we’d get out if it, but if other people want to then that’s up to them.

Owlplant · 03/08/2024 16:12

Yes. We have Life360. Mostly for the kids but it's useful when someone is making tea.

user1474315215 · 03/08/2024 16:11

We do, also adult DC and my DS. We don't stalk each other but we do find it useful for meeting up, checking on progress on a long journey etc.

SparkyBlue · 03/08/2024 16:11

Yes and I only use it to check if he has left work so I get dinner started

Waaaaaahh · 03/08/2024 16:10

Yes we do because then whoever is making dinner that night doesn't need to tell the other one what time they will be home.
