They are not protestors. They are not protesting. They are common or garden thugs and criminals who are causing criminal damage, setting police offices on fire and attacking police officers.

Total scumbags.

We don't want to be anyone's enemy. We're just ordinary people, living in our homes and communities. We don't deserve this.

exactly!

ETA: I was responding to the deleted comment. Can't remember exactly what it said, but I was disagreeing with a comment that Jews and Muslims are enemies.

Muslims aren't the Jews' enemy!!!

Muslims and Jews have a complicated history which was seen as fertile ground by powerful authoritarian entities to spread and deepen division.

These authoritarian entities only care about money and power, and will do what they need to do to get it. They fuel anger and spread disinformation to make these groups mistrust and hate each other. But the hate is orchestrated by bad actors. Nearly everyone of every faith just wants to live a peaceful life and raise their families.

The situation over the last few days and Project 2025, which sounds like something from Handmaids Tale, have exposed them.

People are starting to join the dots and see the same group of billionaires always seem to be in the background.

I am from the NE originally but down here in London today it is pouring. However winter will be here before we know it and that always calms things down too for all groups of people.

TattiePants · 06/08/2024 14:01

It is pouring with rain now so that tends to calm things down.

Er it might be raining in some parts of the country but it's glorious in the NE and predicted to be for at least the next 48 hours.

28 in court today after Middlesbrough riot

Some 28 people will appear in a Middlesbrough court today charged with violent disorder and other offences.

Teesside Magistrates' Court have set aside a remand court to deal with those appearing.

Middlesbrough was hit by "staggering" violence on Sunday, police said.
Rioters smashed the windows of houses and cars and hurled objects at officers, with one shouting a racial slur and another telling police: "It's our f country."

There was significant damage to the crown court, the university and a number of properties in the Parliament Road area.

EasterIssland · 06/08/2024 11:35

From bbc

In Belfast, a man in his 50s has been taken to hospital after he was seriously assaulted during disorder in the south of the Northern Irish capital last night.
Witnesses reported seeing attackers stamp on his head, police say.
His condition is described as serious and police are treating the incident as a racially motivated hate crime.

PickAChew · 06/08/2024 11:20

Glorious sunshine in county Durham (which I'm enjoying from a rather scenic bus) and no heavy rain forecast up here.

Xenia · 06/08/2024 11:15

It is pouring with rain now so that tends to calm things down. Our weather is not usually very conducive to violent protests.

I suppose if there are travel warnings about dangerous UK that might mean people could get asylum in France if they are scared of being hurt in the UK which would be quite a reversal.

The police were strongly criticised for allowing masks on Palestinian protests so they just need to ensure they treat everyone the same. Masks were fairly recently banned https://www.gov.uk/government/news/new-protest-laws-on-face-coverings-and-pyrotechnics which is quite funny given how much many of us were against compulsory masks during covid (although I obeyed all those laws even though I disagreed with them) - wiki does not seem up to date with it yet and just says " For a century, covering or blacking one's face was a criminal act that could lead to the death penalty; the 1723 Black Act was repealed in 1823. "..."It was passed in 1723 in response to a series of raids against landowners by two groups of poachers, known as the Blacks from their habit of blacking their faces when they undertook the raids. The Act was expanded over the years and greatly strengthened the criminal code by specifying over 200 capital crimes, many with intensified punishment. Arson, for example, had its definition expanded to include the new crime of burning (or threatening to burn) haystacks. "

I was just trying to read the details of the new 2024 anti masking law but have run out of time to find it.

New protest laws on face coverings and pyrotechnics

Police will be given powers to arrest protesters who wear face coverings to threaten others and avoid prosecution, and pyrotechnics will be banned at protests.

I wonder what the penatlies for solicitors are when through their deliberate delays and lies they cause physical and mental harm to clients?
Deliberate and sustained abuse led me to become suicidal and have now several physical impairments including brain damage as a direct result of the actions of several UK solicitors and even the Legal Ombudsman. I have 2 large cardboard boxes of evidence that prove their lies and refusal to do the job they were tasked with doing but The so called 'authorities' (legal Ombudsman) are complicit in the abuse.

Yes and for this Robinson's passport and citizenship should be revoked just like they did with Shamima Begum. Now how ironic would that be?

Ironic and karmic as it would be, we shouldn’t do it. We shouldn’t have done it to Begum either. It’s time the country was run with some respect for international law and general humanity, even if some people don’t behave like that themselves.

Very interesting about Yaxley Leonnon and money. Far right links to US and also banking

BBC still referring to ‘anti-immigration protests’. Makes me so angry. It’s violent rioting. It’s not a protest. It’s terrorism.

Absolutely
I have now decided to call these thugs terrorists became in my opinion that is what they are

Did Stephen Christopher Yaxley-Lennon purposefully light the touchpaper and fuck off to Ayia Napa so he didn't have to get his hands dirty?

What an absolute coward getting all these people to do his dirty work for him.

Aren't they pissed off that they'll be serving time while he's sipping cocktails and smirking at how they did what he told them too while he sits with his hands down his pants?

They've really been shafted by him.

The pieces I posted express concern about the accuracy level of checking relatively high quality images (think of all the instructions about taking your passport photo and how well you need to line up when going through automated systems) versus the relatively low quality images obtained in some crowd situations, particularly when there's a lot of untidy movement.

The ACLU piece is particularly interesting about this technology.

They will be able to track the movements of many of the rioters across multiple cameras. For example if someone is seen punching a policeman and has their face covered, they will be able to zone in on that person and walk them back through footage across the network to the point when they inevitably got off the train or came out of the pub before putting the mask on. Some of these images will be clear.

They can also use the phone numbers to trace location activity to match footage etc. There’s also a ton of technology they use which we don’t know about. The type which thwarts multiple attempted terrorists attacks.

These rioters are fucked and alone. Their hero Tommy Robinson has fled abroad and their spiritual leader, the grifter Farage will be protected by his rich sponsors.

Crown Prosecution Service

This disorder has had a terrible impact of on communities: people barricaded in properties, businesses destroyed and police officers facing violence while trying to keep people safe.

The work of the criminal justice system will continue in overdrive over the coming days.

That's good, but I do mind a bit that damage to property carries a higher sentence than damage to people!

Someone causing damage to people may be charged with assault rather than a public order offence (or both). Assaults can carry a maximum sentence of life.
Sentencing guidelines for assaults can be found here.

Pro Palestine march, you mean anti genocide, anti holocaust, never again, means never again for all humans not just some humans?
How anyone can equate racist riots (buring things down and lobbing bricks at police ) with anti holocaust marches is beyond me 🙈
