Aibu to agree to an extent?

German refugee charity warns 'integration has FAILED'

In a bombshell interview, staff at a leading youth organisation in Germany have said the continuing influx of refugees means the system is at breaking point. They called for a 'freeze' in admissions.

@Lalalalalaaaa

"for the majority of the countries which are listed as 'extreme' the risk to Christians isn't because they're Christian, but because they've converted from Islam."

So that's OK then, is it? They've only got themselves to blame.

Christianity is indeed the most persectured religion in the world - not least of all in Islamic countries. Nigeria has the highest rate of murders against Christians with Christian women and girls frequently reserved for rape and trafficking. In Pakistan Christians are referred to as "chura" which means filthy. Here they are treated as inferior human beings on every level of society including education, employment and health care. In Palestine Christians are spat on and shunned and again, treated as second class citizens. The last Christian book store in Gaza for example was firebombed in 2007 and the elderly couple who ran it were executed. In Somalia, Yemen, Sudan, Libya and Iran (amongst others) being a Christian is tantamount to a death sentence.

Have you ever met or talked to a Palestinian Christian? I know a few (different backgrouds / families) and they speak very fondly of their homeland and living with their Palestinian Muslim and Jewish neighbours.

No, of course people aren't racists and bigots because I say they are. If only I had that much influence!

People are racists and bigots because they choose to be.

There is a tremendous irony in your statement that "words matter". It is pretty obvious that many of us are posting on your thread precisely because we know just how much words matter. And we know that it is important to counter certain words and statements with different ones.

I am not entirely sure why you think it is defamatory to call someone a racist if they are actually a racist, but you will note that I have not in fact called anyone a racist on this thread. Of course, if people think the cap fits...

Well you did use the terms racists & bigots. People are absolutely entitled to their opinions on immigration & how it is handled, taxpayers in particular as we fund it so need it to work.
Questioning how our taxpayers money is being spent & if it is being spent correctly is the right thing to do.
The daily mail article refers to charities in Germany highlighting the problems in Germany which actually makes for very interesting discussion which obviously involves some maturity on the part of some.
I'm referring to those whose
language is limited to using the slurs "racist, bigot, far right" for anyone who dares have a different opinion & those who have a curiosity about how exactly things are going in regards to mass immigration.

They don't know the meaning of the word, are too ignorant & arrogant to get the definition. Much easier for them to shout "bigot", "racist" & "far right" every opportunity they get.

I think she was taking about you…

Dulra

Any immigration has to be at a manageable level, they need support, and assimilation for the well b being of the country.

Any government 1st responsibility is to it's citizens.
Germany went to fast and didn't think of the consequences.

If you plonked me in Saudi without much support I would rather be with people who talk my language, like the same food, and are familiar to me.
Is it a surprise these youngsters are falling in with gangs.

Volume. Most immigrant debate is about manageable volume.

Lilysgoneshopping · 31/07/2024 14:50

Why is it that anything negative about some ethnicities is automatically denounced as a lie?
People know what they know and see what they see, and live where they live

How safe do you think Muslims in Southport feel now with regard to practising their religion, OP? I assume that you will unreservedly condemn the riots outside the mosque last night?

ilovesooty · 31/07/2024 14:47

more left tactics
pulling the racism card

Yeah. Words matter 🙄

Really?! I had no idea!
I doubt the previous poster needs your advice on that one tbh.

Maybe the op doesn't need my advice but going around calling people racist either online in the real world will never go down well & could lead to serious consequences. Just a friendly reminder☺️

Language is paramount to integration. But different cultures can't be fully integrated because they aren't rooted in the traditions and customs of the host country. Some (not all) will keep the next generations away from it too. In the case of the UK and Germany, take Christmas for example. There's a lot more behind it than present-giving. What does the joy of a Christkindl market that has been there since medieval times mean to an immigrant who refuses to experience it? Or a Christmas carol concert? People get resentful when there attempts to diminish their heritage

who says immigrants don't attend Christkindlesmarkts?

Newbutoldfather · 31/07/2024 14:46

@MixedCouple2 ,

That is a really interesting point!

However, most expats are high skill, high earning and presumably contributing good tax revenue. Hopefully they are also not doing things like standing for MPs based on their views of what should be happening in the UK or U.S.

And they are generally not large in number.

However, it is bad and bigoted not to want to integrate at all or want to learn the local language and I wouldn’t blame local people if they got sick of them.

Dulra · 31/07/2024 14:45

Mimififi · 31/07/2024 14:28

It's not the direction I wanted the thread to go on but I was asked how I would improve integration & for me a very valid point is that I should feel safe practising my religion in any country I choose.
I'll happily go back to discussing the article stating the failure of integration in Germany.

That is everyone's wish though, but it is not the reality for many and that is why they often flee their countries and look for asylum where they will be safe, but people don't want immigrants so what are we to do. I'm not sure why you can't join up the dots ....

That isn't true. We've had centuries of immigration to the UK by people who have integrated successfully.

I don't think calling someone racist on an anonymous forum would hold up as defamation in a court of law.

If you are unable to produce the examples you should probably retract the accusation.

Not unable to, just unwilling to play that game!

MixedCouple2 · 31/07/2024 14:40

As someone from Africa i find integration has not occured from the White people who move here for work etc. They don't integrate. They don't learn the culture and language. They expect weatern standards of everything and make no / little effort to learn the language. This includes the Germans that come here. Infact they want us to learn their language!!!!

There is no news article about it. There is no slamming of this behaviour. Because they are expats and everyone else is just a foreigner an immigrant. White supremacy strikes again!
I think everyone needs to pipe down and realise white people do it all the time, they have historically and they will continue to do so. I forget the saying, is it the pot calling the kettle black, comes to mind every time.

Well that much is obvious. The racists and bigots are now proudly owing their racism and bigotry.
