To be really freaked out about seeing someone that wasn’t there??

My partners mum, step-dad, brother and 2 nieces are on holiday at the seaside so to we took our little one for the a day trip to have a beach day with his cousins today.

As we were driving into where they are staying and my partner was packing I said to him ‘I didn’t know your whole family was here’ when I saw his grandma standing next to his mum. He must have assumed that I was talking about his stepdad as he didn’t respond to it in a weird way/ask what I meant.

Then when we were inside I asked where his grandma had gone and where she was sleeping as they only have 2 bedrooms. Well it turns out that she isn’t there and is at home and I couldn’t have seen her because she’s not there??

What on earth happened?? What/who did I see?? Am I crazy now? 🙈

@LiterallyOnFire

It's bingo with animals and corresponding poop!

Did you know wombats have cubed poop?

I did not know that. Grin

crampyi · 31/07/2024 11:54

Can’t it just have been someone who looked similar standing nearby?

Shan5474 · 31/07/2024 11:52

I don’t believe in spirits or being psychic when someone is ill but I will hallucinate when I’m very very tired. This includes people who aren’t there - it’s often a shadow or pot plant or a shape that my brain fills in, or sometimes animals (again an object or shadow that my brain tells me is something else). Did you have a bad sleep OP?

The Images we ‘see’ are the brain interpreting patterns of light.

The brain speeds up at the job by using predictive methods, just like predictive text. Your brain sees what it expects to see, a lot of the time.

It expected to see Granny so you did.

I think the whole point is that the OP was not expecting to see granny.

The first ever methodological study of psi/esp was on this very subject - people seeing other people that they were not expecting to see at a time when that person was in a crisis.

@VeryHappyBunny You don't seem to understand the word "yet".

Firefly1987 · 31/07/2024 01:19

Has that happened to you? I've never hallucinated people that weren't there, I mean as far as I can be sure!

Actually yes. Several times. And I’ve frequently hallucinated spiders. It’s actually quite common.

Allthehorsesintheworld · 31/07/2024 11:22

Don’t worry about it at all. And if you’re crazy I am as well. I’ve seen “ dead people” all my life. Saw DH a few months after he died ( watching me cutting the grass — didn’t offer to help 😁)
Most of the time I realise they’re spirits but just occasionally I think that’s an odd outfit to wear to whatever….. and then realise they’ve disappeared.

Bumcake · 31/07/2024 11:19

So, how is granny today?

And not everything will"

Why do you think that?

We can put a man on the moon, or can we? but we can't cure the common cold. Science does not have all the answers.

When I was 9 I thought I saw my nan in the kitchen with my mum.
I said to my mum "I thought I saw Nanny."
My mum said it must be a trick of the light plus my imagination. No one phoned to check she was okay.
She died 27 years later.

😭😭😭😂😂😂😂😂😂

Are you OK OP. Not meaning to frighten you but visual hallucinations should be checked out by a doctor. I hope everything is OK and that you are fine but that's sometimes a warning sign of something amiss.

I had two of these in one day. The consensus was I was lieing. I'd keep my mouth shut if it happened again

I don't know that thread but I do know someone (male) who is normally very rational but was convinced some crows were laughing at him!

Crows bearing grudges is a running theme in the tv show, Beef. It’s fascinating and a little unnerving how intelligent they are.

Something very similar happened to my granddaughter last Friday.

I'd been childminding her and her two brothers all day.

When my daughter finished work she picked up the two boys and took them home. Friday has been sleepover night for about 6 years. Any grandchild (we have 6) can choose to sleepover - usually it's between 1 and 4 grandchildren but always the oldest granddaughter, who has just turned 8: she's never missed a week.

At about 9pm (we were playing poo bingo) she suddenly got up and ran into the dining room. She then came out and asked 'where's DGS?' He was of course in bed at home. She then said 'but I've just seen him running into the dining room'.

I rang my daughter and asked her to check on DGS. She asked why and I said to see if he's astral planing.

She was chuckling as she went upstairs to his room.

He had removed his shorts pyjamas and was stood in the middle of his room with his arms outstretched, head tipped back, staring at the ceiling.

He is a known sleepwalker and often undresses himself before he goes sleepwalking. He usually runs round in circles whilst sleepwalking. He had once taken a large bag of toilet rolls and stacked them on top of each other at the top of the stairs.

But this one was a bit more scary as I'd joked about astral planing before she'd gone and checked.

Obviously don't believe in anything 'astral' - it was just coincidence. We were just a bit spooked.

What do you mean "obviously don't believe"? I'd believe it after that!

Is this going to be similar to the thread started by that woman who thought she had offended the crows, and was going to be attacked by them on her walk? She never came back to my knowledge. (Back to the thread I mean.)

@VeryHappyBunny "Just because you can't or don't believe or understand something doesn't mean it didn't happen. Not everything can be explained in a scientific way."
This paragraph only needs a tiny edit to make it correct.
"Not everything has been explained in a scientific way yet"
There-fixed it for you.

And not everything will.

According to science I should be dead, but I am very much alive and the doctors and specialists couldn't explain why.

Flumpie59 · 31/07/2024 10:48

Lovely Lucifer sounds so beautiful! He was watching over you!

Flumpie59 · 31/07/2024 10:46

Definitely check on the family, particularly granny but you're not crazy.

I don't know the scientific words but basically it sounds like thought or mind projection where one person unconsciously sends messages to the brain of someone else and that person then sees or feels the image.

Some years ago hubby and I were around a friends house for dinner. It was my myself, hubby, and this middle-aged couple.

The livingroom is directly below the larger guest bedroom and the couple's bedroom is directly above the kitchen so the guest and couple's bedrooms are next to each other.

Hubby and couple were all in the livingroom as I was and I had to shoot upstairs to use the loo. They have one downstairs but it was blocked and they were waiting for the plumber. The upstairs one is opposite the 2 bedrooms. Both bedroom doors were open.

Just as I was about to go into the loo I got the impression I was in the guest bedroom even though I wasn't, then I saw the man of the house just shoot into their bedroom ... I didn't hear him come up the stairs ...

When I went back to the livingroom I asked him ''sorry to ask as it's none of my business but did you just follow me up the stairs and walk into your bedroom?'' He said no, he hadn't and his wife and my hubby both said he was still in his armchair!

They then went on to explain that several guests over the years have had the same or similar experience!

So, worry not, you're not going crazy, it's just a natural thought process!
