‘Children’ and ‘adults’ in Southport massacre

Supersimkin7 · 30/07/2024 20:43

All the papers are reporting that the Southport victims are ‘children’ who
were protected by ‘adults’.

The Southport victims are little girls who were protected by two women, now fighting for their lives.

No one needs to report what sex the killer is.

Male violence against women is a national emergency, say the police.

AIBU to think misgendering a massacre is the lowest of the low?

There was also a PT who was male who confronted the killer, along with other men who were hurt trying to help

Kyle looked at him and ran off the wimp

Millie1501 · 02/08/2024 23:02

This Southport attack was not a random attack committed by someone who was just crazy. This was a very targeted attack, the stabber picked this event for specific reasons. He may well have been racist (the assumption most attendees would be white) and a misogynist (considering he targeted an event that would be attended by little girls). We have to address the rise in misogynistic views atm, the people who are being given platforms online who are basically blaming the female population for the problems on the world and worse yet encouraging violence against them. I think addressing the motives of this attack is very important. Also for anyone asking how would the attacker know it would be all girls, get an actual grip. It was a Taylor Swift event to include dance, yoga and bracket making!!!

Did you just see @Supersimkin7

re Southport stabbing

" 2 children have been released from hospital"

Miisgendering ? Or available facts before confirmation?

@WilmaFlintstone1

Please don't tell me to " wake up and stop shrieking " This OP was about the initial reporting of these stabbing and OP was way off and whilst many conclusions are going to be drawn from this whole awful, awful event and rightly so, you are way off patronising and lecturing.

sunglassesonthetable · 01/08/2024 09:32

You have to feel for the survivors and families of the victims when so many people are using this tragedy to make their own point. First the EDL, now posters with a gender axe to grind.

This.

Identities need to be confirmed. Facts need to be confirmed. News EVOLVES.

Really surprised you don't see that OP. This was reporting facts AS THEY WERE KNOWN.

Saying CHILD isn't misgendering. It's a fact. And the best fact until the sex of the child is CONFIRMED.

Really surprised this is your hill to die on.

WilmaFlintstone1 · 01/08/2024 07:32

I am hearing through official channels that they were all girls.

Close your eyes if you wish folks but this is a key fact. Always look at the victims and what links them.

You can shriek about point scoring all you like but you need to wake up and look at the victimology.

Serious questions need asking about why this man targeted the people he did.

With regards to MH, unless he was in a psychotic episode that’s not going to be a defence.

More probable is that he’s a young man radicalised in some way who has an issue with women and girls. VAWAG is very real, some of you need to take it seriously, especially if you are the parents of boys.

Supersimkin7 · 01/08/2024 01:20

They’ve just confirmed one of the three rescuers who ran in & took on the knifeman was a guy. Point taken.

I think you should rephrase this.

Children have died. Have some respect.
Not the time for whatever point you’re trying to make. How would it have been any more or less of a tragedy if little boys had been killed?

This.

Chucklit · 01/08/2024 03:10

Wow. There was you, and there was the point you were trying to make zooming right over your head. Your ridiculous post is not necessary and I hope that no relatives come across this particular post. Give yourself a bloody good shake. As a person, you've let yourself down on a public forum. Enjoy that.
Whatever you're aiming at, you've spectacularly messed up. From the updates I see you're clinging to a male being identified. So does it make you feel good now to know that a male helped out when adult women risked their lives to defend children and remain in hospital, as do so many little girls.
Whatever point you're after making, save it. This is not the time. This is not the place. Just stop and try to have some respect.

Poddledoddle · 01/08/2024 01:51

What are you on about

Inlaw · 01/08/2024 01:32

Honestly I’m starting to think there are AI bots on here. There have been so many bizarre posts/ posters this past week just recanting and re quoting people quite aggressively - when it turns out they aren’t even disagreeing. Just recanting in a combative way. This isn’t this thread specific btw. I have just sat back this evening and been watching and it is weird.

And on the topic of whether it was VaWG. It was a pregnancy and postnatal care centre who were happening to do summer holiday care. Of course it’s VAWG. The man didn’t attack the taxi driver, the garage owners, or run at the guy who starred him out at the bottom of the stairs.

Thanks.

Astonishing that people are insisting this thread contains speculation.

It’s asking whether we should look at the only facts we know.

At this point the identity of the victims (not just the girls who have died) is NOT known. Because the reporting is being sensitive to those involved.

You can believe all you like that this is VAWG but in reality you too are speculating. Your certainty does not make it fact. If it is confirmed I'm sure the conversation around it will take on another dimension. A lot will come out at his trial, his background, his internet searches, his social life and his associates and so on. But for now, no you are not stating what is known.

Supersimkin7 · 31/07/2024 23:22

Lies aplenty in this thread, in others’ posts. Wonder why - interesting.

Now in yours above @KamalaVermi , possibly not as interesting. Sleep well.

Just stop posting and go for a walk or something.

Not only are you being unreasonable, you're as low as those thugs who use it to further their racist agenda.
Reel your neck in.

I'm not sure what's disrespectful about wanting to address the pattern that's led to this. When women or children are murdered, it's almost always by men. This is about male violence, notwithstanding the fact that the OP seems a little confused about what misgendering is. When the dust has settled, perhaps the most respectful thing we could do as a nation is to put some more effort into figuring out why men do this and how it can be stopped.

Cornettoninja · 31/07/2024 17:20

We can’t fix this till we tell the truth

you have no idea what the ‘truth’ is. You weren’t there, you’re not an officer on the case, you’re a member of the public with an agenda and no qualms about using whatever this turns out to be to fit it.

stay in your lane and stop speculating about things you have no idea about, involvement with or reason to think you’re in any way helpful with.

Yes. All over every news channel.

@Pigeonqueen

No, it hasn't. I have not once heard the sex of the children still in critical care. That the 3 dead children are girls, yes.

we don't know how many boys were attending the yoga & dance class.

AngelaShrute · 31/07/2024 11:44

Even though it may seem obvious that he targeted little girls we haven't actually heard an official explanation for why he did what he did yet, if it was religious or if he was an incel, mentally ill etc... once that is established it could change the language of how it's being reported.

I do wonder if he had similar motivations to the person responsible for the Arianna Grande concert, because it was Taylor Swift event. In which case they were too quick to describe it as non terror.

MrsSkylerWhite · 31/07/2024 10:13

I’m not even sure what your point is?

AuContraire · 31/07/2024 10:11

Calling it "misgendering" means your point is lost. That's a ridiculousterm to use. "Misgendering" is not what is happening.

What the media/police etc are doing is not making it clear that this was an attack, by a male, which was targeted at girls. Girls who were at their dance class. The dance teachers were also attacked, either because they were in the way of him getting to the girls, or they were targeted too.

That some men then got hurt when they tried to stop the guy attacking the girls (and women) doesn't change the fact that this was targeted at girls.

sashh · 31/07/2024 09:24

Marseillaise · 31/07/2024 08:38

Boys are subjected to violence at the same level as girls. If there were boys in that group, and there could have been, they would have been at just as much risk as everyone else. OP, your post is ridiculous.

No they are not. VAWG is a huge problem. Often it happens in the home. Boys / men are rarely attacked just because they are male.

The attacker picked this venue for a reason, we don't know what that reason is yet, but it could be that he was attacking just girls / females.

The École Polytechnique massacre in Montreal had 4 male victims but they were not the targets.
