Hallelujah. The Welsh Moron has been charged

Some 'good' news at last. The paedophile Huw Edwards, the public face of our public service broadcaster, has been charged with sexual offences. He's hidden in the Priory for more than a year whilst trousering his full salary from the BBC and claiming his mental illness made him download child pornography. I thought he was going to get away with it, but somebody at the CPS has had the guts to charge this moron. Thank god.

I agree op, I also dislike the way he sped off tp the priory, I think he thought he had got away with it. It was only by chance they found this stash

You are so right. He is not only a paedophile, but also a hypocrite. His employer calls him to investigate what is going on and he suddenly says he's sick. Waltzes off leaving the wife to face the media. Hides under the duvet for 8 months whilst taking public money. Absolutely a disgusting human being with no honour at all. I hope he gets the book thrown at him - but he won't.

Thanks. So glad you finally agree that Huw Edwards is WELSH. Never mind the paedophilia.....

The thing is that I never denied he was Welsh. Maybe you’re confusing me with another poster?

ForeveraBluebird · 31/07/2024 19:23

Think you seriously need help to realise which of those words should be in LARGE print Op.
I’ll give you a clue it isn’t Welsh .

Acapulco12 · 31/07/2024 19:09

Where did I say anything about not being able to mention Huw Edwards being Welsh? But no worries. Don’t let truth get in the way. Just focus on how good it must feel to be so smug and so superior. Hope it makes you feel really good.

I'm more concerned about Huw receiving the 'justice' he deserves. Still, sharing a cell with a big hairy trans guy probably won't bother him too much. At least that pompous air of his has been punctured through his own hypocrisy. He really is the lowest of the low. Spare a thought for those he has injured, not least his own five children

Lol wtf? Where does a ‘big hairy trans guy’ come into this? Are you quite well, OP?

Gosh, there's a lot of words you can't use in your world. You mustn't say a bloke from Wales is Welsh, and now 'trousering' is verboten. Oh dear, oh dear. And whilst I have sympathy for his family - mainly his poor children - I come from a world where wives are not the little woman at home pretending they say nothing and hear nothing. And Vicky Flind is no little woman - for goodness sake she is a producer working on current affairs. Of course she knew there was a problem.

I wouldn’t say he’d partially ’trousered three-quarters of a million pounds’.

More to the point though, I think the way you’ve talked about his wife is horrible. As I’ve said, as far as we know, she is innocent. Yet you describe her as someone who is obsessed with money and status (‘trousering three quarters of a million’; ‘being Mrs. Huw Edwards resulted in lots of status and fabulous invitations’). And what good does it do to speculate on what she knew and what she didn’t about his crimes? It’s speculation that’s not rooted in any fact, and she can’t defend herself and say what she knew or not, and nor should she feel the need to, because she’s not the one being convicted - her husband is.

You would describe a paedophile as a paedophile & leave his nationality or race out of it so instead of Pakistani, Welsh, asian, Irish whatever -you would use the word paedophile or criminal otherwise it's a racial slur as nationality not relevant.
Welsh & Irish casual slurs seem okay even to people who are so careful not be racist in other contexts

You cannot seriously still be going on about him being referred to as Welsh - as every newspaper is doing. When he changes his nationality, be sure to let me know.

No, I don't. There has to be a huge outcry about this so that Huw gets the maximum sentence and the BBC is held to account for paying for the last year. And then there's all the sanctimonious media luvvies - yes Emily Maitlis and Jon Sopel I mean you - who were defending him last year. The Sun did the job they should have done as he was right under their nose.

I don’t think a few posters on Mumsnet are going to make much difference in changing the BBC’s stance on this. We’re not going to be able to create much of an outcry. I don’t think we’ll cause any sleepless nights for the BBC.

'doesn't excuse the way I talk about him?' Are you completely barking? Or are you his barrister or his Mam? Educate me, how would you describe a paedophile?

This post is in such bad taste. Yes he is a paedophile and a sex offender, but that doesn’t excuse the way you talk about him and his wife. His wife is innocent as far as we know. The way you write about him and his wife in this post is so unpleasant.

No, it is NOT. You need to follow the rolling news as the whole sorry story and all the cover-ups emerges. Apparently virtually the whole BBC thought HE had got above himself, was exhibiting inappropriate behaviour to junior employees of a sexual nature. He was a real brown noser but apart from that had few friends. Mrs Huw has spent her entire career at the Beeb and it is beyond the realms of probability that she did not pick up on ANY of this. In addition, she doesn't work on Watch with Mother, she was and is a producer of hard hitting news programmes. Of course she must have known.

Hmm. You mean she had no idea that her husband of twenty-five years and the man she had five children with, had desire for the opposite sex? I wonder. The two of them were trousering nearly three-quarters of a million pounds a year between them and I'm sure being Mrs. Huw Edwards resulted in lots of status and fabulous invitations. I do not think she can have known the extent to it but I simply find it impossible to believe that she didn't suspect something. In his last years he got very careless with the images. There were rumours all over the BBC that he behaved inappropriately with junior members of staff and as Ms Flind works there, it is unlikely she didn't pick up on it. She did, after all, produce a news programme.

Clearly I don't but I find it highly amusing how many people get hung up on the side issues, whilst ignoring the paedophile elephant in the room.

Eh? A “big hairy trans guy”? Your mad fantasy is getting confused.

ForeveraBluebird · 31/07/2024 17:33

@teddyandgypsy , I think you need to realise that the main newsworthy thing about this man is that he is an abuser. The fact that you seem to think his nationality is more important is slightly disconcerting.

teddyandgypsy · 31/07/2024 17:22

Why would I describe Huw as Nigerian or Pakistani when he is WELSH? By the way, all the newspapers refer to him as the Welshman. Seems he had a lovely Welsh pal as well who was keeping him fed with images of kiddies.

OP posts:
Serencwtch · 31/07/2024 12:00

Why do you need to mention his nationality?
Would you say Pakistani moron or Nigerian moron?
He's a moron for making indecent images of children not for being Welsh.

ForeveraBluebird · 31/07/2024 11:38

teddyandgypsy · 31/07/2024 11:17

Mentioned his nationality, that's it. Its you lot who are hung up on it, not me.

You reference his nationality in your first three words, you don’t even mention his awful crime .

Beth216 · 31/07/2024 11:27

EilonwyWithRedGoldHair · 30/07/2024 14:39

No need to point out he's Welsh and moron as a derogatory term is not a word that should be used these days.

However, as you did phrase it that way, moron is Welsh for carrot and that's how I read it and was momentarily confused.

Really? I hope you don't use the word idiot either then.
I agree with you OP, I'm glad he's finally getting what he deserves.
