After seeing the new footage, I believe the officers actions were understandable.

@Lacdulancelot

"One where people don’t fuck about in airports and don’t attack the people paid to defend us."

Exactly and quite frankly if he had behaved that way in an airport of most other countries he would have been shot with an actual gun not a taser.

Moral of the story if you start a fight in an airport, with a police officer, break her nose and put her in a choke hold then you kinda lose any right to object to being kicked in the head.

The alternative would have been to use a real gun (like most other countries) and then at least there would have been no need for the police man to have kicked him in the head.

YellowAsteroid · 28/07/2024 12:14

Maybe it's mentioned upthread, but why were the police arresting those men in the first place? What preceded even this?

To be honest I agree with this. The men involved had seconds earlier being seriously assaulting police officers. Which when you have guns must be quite scary thinking they could grab your gun and use against you potentially. While I agree that kicking someone in the head is not a good look and should be a last resort maybe that’s the point the officer felt he was at. The guy on the ground was still moving, he could have been up in a split second and then it could potentially have been two men against one male police officer……he probably didn’t know at that point how incapacitated his colleagues were but he’d seen them been hit in the head/nose broken. It’s not in the realms of improbability for him to think he was on his own at that point.

Haven't read through the whole thread but I am sure I read something about a taser also hitting the police man and so he has kicked out as a reflex.

Play stupid ga, win stupid prizes. Sick of the bleeding heart brigade. In other countries they would have been shot dead. The culprits playing the victim is disgusting and why they haven't been prosecuted is beyond disgusting. We are a soft touch country, embarrassing.

Perhaps they have not been prosecuted because they had done nothing wrong before being attacked by the police?

They need to act like it then.

Yes of course. No British citizen has ever been involved in a fight or caused any trouble.

This cannot be a serious post?

@SweetFemaleAttitude

I was just wondering if that was the reason the Officer went ott . I'm not saying it was right .

lazzapazza · 28/07/2024 12:04

You mean something happened before the kicking and the men involved are not little angels?

Oh I am surprised.

BetterBee · 28/07/2024 12:03

I Think it’s difficult to understand the use of force unless you fully understand the context.

police officers with weapons must have their hands on the weapon at all times. That’s why the officer could not cuff him once he was down on the floor. He had to wait for another officer to come over to do this.

The officers also had been cautious with the use of force earlier and this lead to the men getting up and assaulting the officers. So they knew they had to use more force to ensure the man remained on the floor and to ensure the officers safety. In most countries the men would have been shot, they are very lucky they were detained by British police.

It must be so hard being an officer at the moment with the media whipping up a frenzy at every moment. Use to little force and risk serious injury (as what happened) or too much in the public’s eyes then you risk people turning on you, losing your job etc.

localnotail · 28/07/2024 12:00

While I'm in no way condone police brutality, my reaction is like - erm, what these people expect would happened when they started fighting with armed police officers? I think they should consider themselves lucky they are not in the US.

As many on here, bloody tired of violent arrogant thugs crying and saying how traumatized they are once shit hits the fan and their actions get a response.

Sunnysundayicecream · 28/07/2024 11:59

I feel that stamping on the man's head was too much, but the police officer had just been punched in the head 9 times. He must have been in fight or flight mode by that point and may have suffered concussion.
Which law abiding citizen goes around starting fights with the police? I have little sympathy for them.

IMustDoMoreExercise · 28/07/2024 11:56

Are you a police officer that has been repeatedly punched???

Until you are, you know nothing.

Does that mean I can't comment on a bad meal in a restaurant as I'm not a chef?

Was he at the airport as well? I thought he was long gone.

Yeah, was about to say, what's mussolini got to do with this ?

The police are not the only ones that are attacked during the course of their working day, they probably have better training than most of us and most police manage to not stamp on someones head regardless of what happened previously

Cattery · 28/07/2024 11:54

Not RTFT but who thinks it’s a good idea to attack the police who are on duty at an airport where security is paramount? From what I can glean the bloke was tasered to the floor (quite correctly). He then went to get up and carry on attacking. At this stage the officer was within his rights to use any means possible to ensure the suspect was taken out. What was he meant to do? Let him get up and who knows what he could have been armed with. A suicide belt? Hope the officer is not prosecuted.

AngelusBell · 28/07/2024 11:50

EsmaCannonball · 28/07/2024 11:48

Mussolini?

YellowAsteroid · 28/07/2024 11:49

The lawless violence against the police officers is appalling - I found that footage hard to watch. Those hooligans should be locked up, frankly. We need to respect those who try to keep us all safe - violence against the police is rightly treated seriously by the courts.

However, the police officers should not have meted out violence in return. It is understandable - they were provoked hugely, and it must have been really difficult to quell the aggression needed to deal with such violence.

But it's not a reason for their violence towards the offenders.

Maybe they need more training & practice in dealing with violence, and coping with damping down the attack instinct after subduing such violent trash?

But I hope the police officers are treated relatively leniently in the light of the violence they had to deal with.

AngelusBell · 28/07/2024 11:49

OneBadKitty · 28/07/2024 11:09

They need more punishment than a travel ban- they weren’t even passengers- they were at the airport to pick up their mother. They should be given a prison sentence and made to pay compensation to the officers they injured. If they are migrants they should be deported on release back to their country of nationality- although I suspect they are British citizens.

They are British citizens.

A lot of focus has been on the female officer who has her nose broken (her blood is spattered all over the floor) but the male officer who did the kick was punched repeatedly in the head, hard and fast, by two men, one of whom had jumped on his back and grabbed him round the neck. He didn't taser this man himself so may not even have realised he had been tasered when he was on the floor. It looked as if the man was trying to get up.

So, you've taken repeated blows to the head from two men who have been involved in previous violent incidents at an airport, you are in panic mode and very probably dazed from the blows, you are dealing with two men who are acting like they have committed a crime so bad it is worth beating up three armed police officers to escape arrest: would you let him get up from the floor? Would you bend down so he can grab or hit you again?

Whoever put the original video up was looking to start sectarian riots. The lawyer and the two brothers were willing to promote that original, dangerous narrative. These are people who would have let Manchester burn for their own ends.

Also, the female officer in the first video seems to be suffering the effects of PAVA being sprayed.

Can't imagine having that in the air will improve anyone's reasoning.

I bet there's a heck of a lot more to come out about this. Not least the third party who had the altercation with the mother. How come he hasn't been found by the Daily Mail?
