After seeing the new footage, I believe the officers actions were understandable.

To be fair the instigators blamed it on racism first! Them and their lawyer said it was a racist attack. They were the first to call it.

There is a huge divide between many Muslim communities and white communities. Many of us witness this first hand in areas we live in. People do stick together, we saw this with the Romany Gypsy community recently, we see it in Muslim communities regarding the atrocities in Gaza. Incidents like this do mean that people pick a side. We have seen this all over Europe in recent years, racial tensions are rising.

He’s vile

It’s interesting how he tried to capitalise on this so quickly. Some probably thought he had stature due to solicitor title. He really doesn’t

MartinsSpareCalculator · 28/07/2024 13:31

The man had already been tasered and was incapacitated so there was absolutely no need to stamp on his head. I'm unsure where such an action could actually ever be justified.

Armed police should be able to control their emotions and be capable of not lashing out in rage. It should be a real worry that this officer was not able to do so.

There are loads of horrible, violent white men in this country but the people stoking racial division around this incident initially were the ones who spread the clipped video around social media claiming 'racist police brutality,' the ones threatening to riot and solicitors talking about police attempting to 'assassinate' their client.

Just Google the man these offenders chose as their solicitor. Look into his opinions on women. Look at how he and his supporters behaved when he stood as a candidate in the recent general election. They were as bad, if not worse, than the BNP. It's a truly nasty, chauvinistic movement. Yes, BNP types will be gleeful at this incident, but it's naive to think that there are no other parties with a vested interest in stoking sectarian division here. It will be interesting to see if Labour do anything about this because it was their safe seats that were lost or threatened. They have enough of a majority now not to care but in the future they will need those constituencies.

I think the police officers actions were understandable. Yesl, of course he shouldn't have done what he did but he'd just been violently set upon by thugs (did you see the way the guy was leathering into the officer?). The officer was probably terrified, full of adrenaline and lost it momentarily. They are humans, not robots.

"Actually I think it is rather common for people involved in pub fights to attack the police, especially if the police are outnumbered."

Can you not see the difference in a fight outside the dog and duck on a Friday night including assaults on police and assaulting a police officer in a high security environment such as an airport.

In most other countries he would simply have been shot.

We all knew that these lads were trouble but the media choose to show them being battered by the police. Of course these lads kicked off first, wonder what their grandstanding gobshite of a lawyers has to say now? No doubt he will still blame the white coppers. Chancers and liars.

He’ll be thinking up shit to sling no doubt, similar to that poor teacher he lied about!

"I’m making the point that it’s nothing to do with race. Geez what a racist cesspit this thread is turning into, will be pulled before long!"

Then I do not understand your point. I fully agree with you that their skin colour is completely irrelevant.

What I sought to differentiate was that there is a massive difference between a punch up outside a pub on a weekend and severely assaulting a police officer in a high security environment such as an airport involving breaking her nose and putting her in a choke hold.

My post did not reference skin colour, your post did reference skin colour "British white men have been behaving like this drunk outside the pub every week for all time".

If there is any racism it sits in your post and not mine.

he should not lose his job. I think perhaps a little bit of anger management training because his behavior was really not acceptable. However, there was extreme provocation and I understand that but he should have remained calm. I think he just needs a little bit of a little wrap on the knuckles and a bit of anger management training

My mind is boggling at how and why those men got so violent so quickly and with clear intent to badly injure! Were they on drugs or just violent people?
I have huge sympathy for the officer and agree with pps that it was a fight or flight moment, he must have been terrified of the risk to himself, his fellow officers and the public. How could he know in that split second what the guys intention was?

I'm gonna assume they felt 'disrespected'. You know what it's like they're around their peers and something is said they don't like and instead of shrugging it off their little brains go into over drive.... you disrespecting me innit blood! One of the problems with society, not understanding respect is earned not taken!

How difficult is it to work out that at the point the officer was kicking and stamping on the man on the ground, the police did not have to use any force to restrain him? Ditto the man on the chairs at the back, who was just sitting there with his hands up to his head in a surrender gesture. He was simply complying with the officer's demand that he lie down when he was gratuitously kicked in the legs and hit on the head. None of that is justifiable.

It’s easier to get up from kneeling than a prone position and the police had to neutralise the considerable threat posed by these low life scum bags who had been violently attacking them seconds before. A kick in the leg to force him down is ok with me if he’s not complying fast enough. They aren’t to know if someone else is going to come in to back them up are they? They need to get him on the floor and cuffed as fast as they can.

I’ll say it again - I’m ok with what the police officers did. They had to protect themselves and the general public and they did pretty well considering what they were up against.

@IMustDoMoreExercise I have been punched repeatedly. Pretty sure if I'd stamped on my ex's head I would have been arrested.

You can defend that officer all you want, still doesn't make it right. Your attitude is appalling, I'm guessing you're a police officer or related to one? Amazing how a badge boosts the ego and brings out the worst in people

Do not talk shit. You wouldn’t have been arrested and you know it.

"I mean please. British white men have been behaving like this drunk outside the pub every week for all time."

I mean please if you cannot see the difference between assaulting a police woman in a high security environment such as an airport, breaking her nose putting her in a chokehold and a punch up outside a pub at the weekend regardless of anyone's skin colour then you are deliberately deflecting and genuinely part of the problem.

Did the police know they were unarmed?

Police don’t know for certain that anyone is unarmed. However in the UK only a tiny percentage of the population has access to firearms, so the presumption must be made that people are unarmed unless there is evidence showing otherwise.

Apparently a violent bust up in Starbucks and a fight on the plane. Seeing these thugs on the video, I can absolutely believe that they were violent and aggressive to others prior to this happening.

Thanks. They sound like they need some serious punishment.

The police hadn't touched their mother when all this began. In fact, one of the brothers seems to hit his own mother in the face.

She's definitely failed at parenting.

Looks like he elbowed her

I think there’s a world of difference between the level of sheer volatility and violence seen from these men than your typical scrap outside a pub.

Regardless, if it was a British white man I would also want them punished in the same way. Imprisonment for our nationals, deportation for foreigners. Why should we pay to keep them.

Completely agree. If they are white British they should face the same consequences. Why is it though that increasingly the people causing newsworthy incidents like this are minority groups?

Think of all the terror attacks, stabbings, shootings you have seen reported on in the past few years, how many of them are white British? Very few I bet.

I mean please. British white men have been behaving like this drunk outside the pub every week for all time.

MissMoneyFairy · 28/07/2024 12:51

Did they or mum or any staff inform the airport police she was apparently abused, why did they get involved, they look riled up and know how to fight.
