Oh I need to just write this down to calm down. I love on a fairly long street and it's a quiet area all people are lovely.

We have this one guy who lives on the road who is a pain I've had run ins with past. He drives up and down it at 60 miles per hour on a 20 mph road. (School on the road)

My kids I darent let them out on the front to play just incase he's bombing it down the street. He's always got police at his door or arguing.

Last night 3 am and then at 4.30am he's fighting in the front with his dad. I had no sleep because of this.

Then around 8pm tonight he's arguing driving recklessly way above the limit. My little girl got upset because the cars are so loud.

Any way he pulled back up got out of his car and I went over lost my shit. Said it was unbearablle.

He threatened to batter me and I had half the street watching.
My husband is mr nice guy and didn't get involved much. My next door neighbour was sticking up and saying she has young. Children and it's unbearable.

It was resolved in the end he said sorry but I feel so ashamed that I was so hot headed and got angry and all the street were watching,

Some of the ladies on the street said good on me for doing it.

But I just feel like a complete nutter now.

Why did I react like that 😔😔

I think I’d be more disappointed that my husband didn’t back me up. You’re definitely not out of order, I would’ve been right behind you cheering you on and in fact I probably would’ve joined in! Well done you, you have nothing to feel bad about.

PC7102 · 29/07/2024 22:14

Good on you! I would have reported him to the police by then. I don’t understand why your partner didn’t get involved when he was threatening to batter you though…

I am so anxious I think in your position id go round to his when he's sober and try and make friends with him/laugh it off so that in future it may be possible to tell him of again and he'll accept it (may be wishful thinking but that's how I've gotten around irritating people in the past. Kill with kindness)

Don't do this. 🔼 Well done with what you did. See how long the new peacefulness lasts.

ElizaJ74 · 29/07/2024 21:59

If there's a school on the road you can ring the none emergency number and explain that he's driving recklessly. If a few parents also report and report to school they'll often liaise and do a road safety day. They put up a temporary speed checker and if it's bad enough they'll sometimes put up a temporary speed camera. It would definitely be worth a try come September if he's still acting like a dickhead x

BurntBroccoli · 29/07/2024 21:06

I would have given you a round of applause!

No my husband it the let's be every one's friend I ended up losing my shit with him as well . He's a different problem lol.

Reading your replies I feel better. Very anxious person mixed with hot headed and firey and I lost it lol. Took me every thing not to strangle him lol

When I had my daughter 7 years ago he was doing this and I had no sleep for months and lost my head then so this is how long it's been going on for years.

Tell your husband he should stick up for you, because he sure as Hell should. Good on you for confronting a nuisance - at least he can't say he wasn't warned.

Dweetfidilove · 29/07/2024 20:45

Well done you! You have no need to be embarrassed.

I can't believe though that your husband 'didn't get involved' while a thug is there threatening to batter you. I couldn't even look at him ☹️.

Potatosaladisnice · 29/07/2024 20:34

Good for you and more of your neighbours should've stuck up for you.

earlymorningcurlewcall · 29/07/2024 20:28

You should also lobby your council and MP for speed bumps on your road. Be loud and proud!

earlymorningcurlewcall · 29/07/2024 20:27

Well done you! Not many would have the guts to do that. You should report his drink driving if you haven't already, and every time he's doing it. I'd be doing everything in my power to have his car, or preferably licence away from him.

ladyofshertonabbas · 29/07/2024 20:20

Err, sounds as if you did amazingly!

Keenovay · 29/07/2024 20:18

Just adding my three cheers. Sounds like you were brilliant - unfortunately for some people the hairdryer treatment is the only thing that might get through to them.

Sorry if someone's already suggested this upthread, but could you campaign to get speedbumps, given there is a school on your road? Or a speed camera?

Police are always dealing with him it's pointless he gets away with it all. Pure scum bag if I'd of rang the police they wouldn't have come out.

Thank you all for your kind words xxx

but you need to call them every time - you suspected drink driving today, that is a police matter.
Write to your council, to your MP and to the newspapers. Make everyone's lives uncomfortable until he stops/is gone.

dijonketchup · 29/07/2024 20:06

You feel low because you’re having a physical response to the huge spike of adrenalin/cortisol from confronting this bastard. Your body gave you what you needed to do it and now you’re having a come down! You’re drained, that’s all. Hope you felt better in the morning

Anon543210 · 29/07/2024 19:56

He's lucky I'm not his neighbour coz I'd have been taking a baseball bat to his car years ago you are definitely not being unreasonable and I'm surprised you put up with it for as long as you did and didn't snap sooner

stopthepigeonstopthepigeon · 29/07/2024 19:24

No. Never make friends with antisocial nutters.

stopthepigeonstopthepigeon · 29/07/2024 19:21

Soonenough · 27/07/2024 22:41

Good for you. Your DH probably stayed out of it because as another man it may have escalated.

Well the guy was threatening to batter her so not sure DH staying tucked away in the house was a great move on his part.

Since this guy is such a douchbag I would imagine everyone on your street wants to shake your hand rn OP.

Mazzles1 · 29/07/2024 19:05

If I feel like my child would be in danger by somebody else’s carelessness and selfishness I would do the exact same.

The guy saying he’d “batter you” should be the one who’s embarrassed!

Pickpocket · 29/07/2024 18:59

Good on you for saying it’s not acceptable behaviour!
I’ve done similar in the heat of the moment when a local drug dealer (from the new housing estate that was built behind my house), decided to do a drug deal involving multiple bags of white powder and rolls of cash being handed over through the window of a car outside my house. Cue me (in my slippers no less!) marching outside to have a rant at them both! They did drive off rather fast after denying everything until I pointed out my cctv….when I watched the cctv I almost died of embarrassment at the crazy women in her slippers shaking her fist and ranting….btw police weren’t even vaguely interested! 🙄 Haven’t seen them again though……😂

Ilovecleaning · 29/07/2024 17:53

I don’t see the problem. You haven’t done anything wrong.

PaminaMozart · 27/07/2024 23:09

Are you mad? I hope you are getting/planning to get treatment for your anxiety...

Yes I am!! Thank god. I know, it's ridiculous and sad isn't it!

Yourdemonsyourproblem · 28/07/2024 20:08

You aren't a fool sometimes people need to be told. I let one loose at a neighbour not long ago and they have left me alone now

Waterboatlass · 28/07/2024 19:47

Good on you for speaking up, nothing to be embarrassed about at all.

Yes I spoke to few this morning. Going forward we are all noting info of any issues. I found out he rents the property so will do it the legal way from now on. Thank you for all your comments.

😀
