To have allowed my dc watch the Olympic opening ceremony?

I was shocked at the library scene leading to a threesome.

The mocking of Christians in the last supper scene.

The feminization of males & the sheer number of transvestites on parade. And a child thrown in the midst of them.

This is a sporting event, why the need to have it so highly sexulaised? My dc were thankfully howling with laughter at parts "the smurf man" singing (complete with his painted bulge) had us all in stitches.

I feel there was a social conditioning agenda to the opening ceremony & it was completely inappropriate given that it is for family viewing. Sexulaised behaviour should not be displayed to children.

Yes & I'm horrified at that. It is wrong on every single level to let that man compete. I completely, 100% agree with you. How was it allowed?! I was hoping fellow teammates & competitors would boycott.

No I believe the scene the child was placed in was bizarre & inappropriate. The child was surrounded by male transvestites. It was deeply uncomfortable to watch for me & I would never allow my dc into such an environment.

Can you understand why I feel some frustration that there has been so much emphasis on the drag element of the ceremony and such a lack of reaction about his inclusion? I feel uneasy that our society is very quick to call out the drag acts and the only reaction to the convicted man was booing!

What you would or wouldn’t want your own kids involved in is fair enough. I tried to find out more about that child (is she a dancer, is she a competition winner etc) but couldn’t see much. Perhaps that is for her protection.

AGoingConcern · 29/07/2024 00:36

Tights and knickers and bare chests at the Olympics!? And they allow children in the audience? I heard some of the men even do the BREAST stroke as an obvious attempt to mock women. How could this be allowed on my TV?

Hi, not avoiding, just cross posting. As you can see, my last pot was pretty lengthy.

Is it suitable for a child to be dancing next to a bare chested man who then has a wardrobe malfunction. I can’t imagine it coming up at work! I’d be questioning when and where and if the answer was “on TV during a dance performance” I’d maybe ask further about the child’s role and where their guardians were etc, but I wouldn’t say it’s inappropriate for an opening ceremony, no.

Have you seen my mention of the child rapist who is actually competing at the games?

Pretending that there's a distinction between "cisgender" men and "trans women" is what I objected to.

@HolyGround13 you mention safeguarding comes up in your job. This is the third time I've asked for your opinion on the young child stood in the midst of the transvestites & beside the man in tights, knickers, bare chested with his full face of make up on & his "wardrobe malfunction"? Is this a suitable environment for a young child? Why are you avoiding this question? 🤔

There happened to be a child right next to this man in tights & knickers at the time of his wardrobe malfunction. That child should not have been in the midst of transvestites in such a bizarre environment. I hope safeguarding are investigating. Why was the child needed in the scene? Who seemed it appropriate? The environment was no place for a child especially when placed beside the barechested man with a face full of make up in tights & knickers. Lo & behold he has a "malfunction". Not a good look right beside a child. Own goal for the woke agenda. This has all backfired so spectacularly 😁

It was a run in his tights that showed about 5cm of thigh skin instead of see-through tights. Again, makeup, shorts and a small patch of thigh wouldn’t be prompting this reaction if it were a female dancer - just because you want to regress us all back to more rigid gender norms doesn’t mean everyone wants that.

Unclutch your pearls and stop trying to enforce your gender obsession on the world.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 29/07/2024 00:27

I believe men are a risk to women.

Yes, you'd have to have been living under a rock not to. All men. Men as a sex, not an "identity".

HolyGround13 · 29/07/2024 00:24

Ereshkigalangcleg · 29/07/2024 00:20

@HolyGround13

Don't presume to force team me into your ideological beliefs about "gender". Men do not belong in women's spaces, it's not a trans thing, it's a man thing. Statistically men are a risk to women. And your twee platitudes also ignore that it's an issue of privacy and dignity for women.

How on earth did I force team you? If you mean by my use of the word “also” I was listing things I care about simultaneously.

I am not presuming anything. As I mentioned earlier, I believe men are a risk to women. You were so focused on my use of the word “cisgender” that we then went all round the houses arguing definitions.

I think it's a bit of a stretch to equate a depiction of the Greek god of partying to the Last Supper.

It was people dancing beside a fashion runway. They weren't even sitting at a table.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 29/07/2024 00:23

but I’m trying to mention that there is biology outside a gender binary

It's the sex binary, and no there isn't. Disorders of sex development aren't a third sex, and everyone has a sex.

Intersex people might have different internal and external sex organs, they often do. So if they are assigned one way at birth, they may feel differently later on when they suddenly start having periods or growing facial hair because they have excess testosterone.

@Ereshkigalangcleg I’m not saying intersex people have anything to do with the trans community, but I’m trying to mention that there is biology outside a gender binary. Drag queens are also unrelated to trans people, but OP is mentioning trans people a lot.

I think people are capable of having subtle discussions about feminism and trans activism without it degenerating, but Mumsnet probably isn’t the best forum. I suppose I wanted to gently engage without being aggressive, as OP has referred repeatedly to a “woke agenda” and it’s a delicate subject.

I worry about child safeguarding frequently, as it comes up in my job. I also worry about violence against women and girls. I also worry for trans people and the rates of violence and suicide in their community. We can care about all these people without lobbing insults. Trans people aren’t trying to hurt you. They are mostly just trying to live their lives, see some people who look like them on tv, and pee in peace.

If you are referring to me the only people I am referring to are the transvestites in the Olympic sermony, I'm not talking about transgender as there are only two sexes male & female.
I am not ignorant enough to speculate on the transvestites preferred pronouns. At face value they are men dressed as women which the Oxford dictionary defines as a transvestite.

"Gender" is sex role stereotypes, the binary is biological sex.

@HolyGround13 well job done then. I'm sure the medical professionals who deal with such cases can make an educated decision based on scans of internal reproductive organs etc.
Males & females have completely different reproductive organs both internally and externally which is why a male will never be a female & vice versa. It's biologically impossible!

But then if you’re intersex, you don’t by definition fit into either category of male or female, that’s the point. Someone decides for you at birth.

"Intersex" is an activist term. They have a medical condition, they are nothing to do with "trans".

People with disorders of sex development are male or they are female, however ambiguous it might appear to the observer.

100%. If there is a disorder with sex development the person is referred to as intersex.
The world is made up of male born & female born. Changing sex is impossible.
