Perhaps women aren't cut out to be on the front line?

Footage of the female officers at the attempted assassination of Trump, and of the scenes at Manchester Airport makes me think that perhaps we're not best suited in those situations.

Would those four violent men have dared attack male officers in the same way?

Im interested in how Trumps female protection officer failed in comparison to the male protection officers ?

leeverarch · 25/07/2024 14:24

Hmm

Nutters and terrorists don't care who they attack or who stands in their way.

I don't agree with the whole premise of the OP, as I think women bring a lot to delicate situations, but I also don't think nutters don't care who they attack.

In the absence of a hatred of a particular person, or one already involved in a conflict, women are often hated as a group by these people and ultimately harmed.

Obviously but that's more of an equal playing field.

If someone was attacking me, I would want a man defending me. Personally.

I'd take a capable, well trained, qualified woman in any of those jobs over a man who is there solely based on the genitalia possessed.

zoemum2006 · 25/07/2024 15:16

That female officer in the video at Manchester airport was freaking out because she knew her male colleague was doing his Job really really badly!!!

Shockvote · 25/07/2024 15:15

So you’re saying the man who tried to shoot Donald Trump wouldn’t have attempted to do if Trump had an entirely male security detail?

MrHarleyQuin · 25/07/2024 15:12

Say that to my friend who is a police officer and 5'1" and polices the local town centre on a Friday evening.

For me if they pass the same tests as for the men in police or armed forces as so many are capable of, they're in.

Perhaps men shouldn't be allowed in the police due to Wayne Couzens? And indeed others like him.

Perhaps men should have a curfew as they commit 98% of sexual offences and 90% of violent crime?

Women are not the problem.

MrsTerryPratchett · 25/07/2024 15:11

If I was a woman security officer I wouldn't work very hard to protect a rapist. Just saying.

Have you seen the doorbell footage of the female police officer taking down the
@!#$ (armed with a huge machete) who murdered that poor boy in Hainault earlier this year ?
I'm absolutely sure there are a hundred + other examples that never make the press.

And female inspector who took out the terrorist in Sydney, on her own!

BitOutOfPractice · 25/07/2024 15:10

What exactly are "women's strong point[s]" OP?

Talking bollocks seems to be yours!

ISpyNoPlumPie · 25/07/2024 15:08

Did you do the thread about Trump and security personnel that the poster thought should only be men?

I’m much more likely as a person to step forward & I have done. Recently attending a gig in London a man randomly started punching another - me and my bil stepped in and separated them - our skills sets his calmness (& size) and my calming mother voice (we all know the one) was enough to calm the suituation down. Someone turned around to my husband and said aren’t you going to get in there to remove me - he said nope my wife is more than capable of looking after herself.

It’s more to do with the person. Flight or fight - I’m a scrappy sort but by nature quite reserved so it always takes people by surprise that when needed I step into the suituation.

I work on the front line. I would say I have a soft skills approach and I can de-escalate high conflict situations quite well. Obviously a softer skills approach won't work in all situations but going in all fucking guns blazing generally makes things much much much worse.
Op you clearly have no idea on what you are talking about and appear as ignorant and sexist.

Absolutely this. A (male) police friend of mine is a hostage negotiator. He's a quiet, softly-spoken man, gentle in temperament, and says this is exactly why he was recruited for the specialist training.

What is needed in a hostage/standoff/high stakes situation is someone who de-escalates tension. You need the guy or girl who presents as if they're there to fix the photocopier, or do an audit of your accounts, not Bruce Willis in a manky vest or Liam Neeson in 'Taken'.

DancefloorAcrobatics · 25/07/2024 14:45

Speak for yourself!

They usually have a well rehearsed protocol. I assume protocol was followed in the immediate aftermath. Otherwise the news would be swamped with it.

However, protocol was not followed by male police officers in the run up to the event....

I don't believe work like that plays into women's strong point at all

Do you remember that the Paris bombing and a few others around that time could only be carried out because the men didn't follow procedures? While women are being promoted because they give BJs to the bosses, then we'll have fuck ups. We need a mix of people in the planning and operational force.

I always said there are men's jobs and women's jobs and I do believe this.
With my bro being a 6ft tall FF some of his female colleagues couldn't get him out if he required it.

How much of policing is fighting violent men who are bigger than you v using your brain and your voice?

Coulddowithanap · 25/07/2024 14:35

So what other jobs shouldn't women do?

Obviously but that's more of an equal playing field.

So you'd tell a female officer to go away in the event of an emergency?

Men actually often back down to female officers and up the ante to male officers.

That said, I've been in plenty of fights over the years with and without any male colleagues around as back up and never l have I lost a prisoner. Sometimes fights end up with people including officers injured, sometimes you get the cuffs in before that happens.

It's not a sex issue.

Although I do recall several old ladies tutting and leaving the church hall in a huff once when I attended a burglary call because they had hoped for a nice for young man to chat to 😂😂
