Perhaps women aren't cut out to be on the front line?

Footage of the female officers at the attempted assassination of Trump, and of the scenes at Manchester Airport makes me think that perhaps we're not best suited in those situations.

Would those four violent men have dared attack male officers in the same way?

Not really up to you what I do, is it? And I'm currently pregnant with my first baby after years of trying and failed fertility treatments. Thanks a fucking lot.

Perhaps a key part of your antenatal research could be looking into what year your child will be born and how ridiculous never mind dangerous attitudes like, welp men beat people up what’re ya gonna do? are to men and women.

A few months to buck up your ideas then and bring your thinking into the 21st century. Especially if your baby is a girl.

Well if I miscarry yet again, you needn't worry.

It was a kneejerk reaction to his colleague being attacked. He'll be sacked and his name and family probably smeared for the rest of his life.

Yeah and he deserves it. There’s a reason the police do extensive training. They aren’t supposed to have knee jerk reactions that involve actions that could kill or paralyse people. Most normal people would not dream of kicking someone in the head like that but the fact that he’s been trained not to and still does it shows what a violent dangerous man he is.

Is there no middle ground between doing nothing and stamping on someone's head?

The victim assaulted the officers. I guess next time they should just walk away and let them do what they're going to do. I hear this whole thing started after an officer asked someone to remove a head covering to search them. They didn't cooperate and punched the officer to the floor.

The police shouldn't bother anymore. Do away with the police as they can't do much of anything given how easy riots can start now. There's no point.

Err no they should de-escalate the situation and arrest anyone who assaults anyone. There is no justification for kicking someone in the head who is no longer any threat to you. That’s not what police officers or the vast majority of men do. It’s pretty damm disturbing behaviour.
I can’t comment on the violent assault against the officers because I don’t believe anyone has been charged with it. There is also no footage that shows anyone beating the police as is alleged, despite this taking place in a crowded place and there being multiple videos. It’s also possible to have your nose broken from someone eg elbowing you in the face while resisting. It doesn’t mean that the guy on the floor punched the woman in the face and lots of people on social media are speculating and showing pictures of an entirely different woman taken last year.

Obviously but that's more of an equal playing field.

If someone was attacking me, I would want a man defending me. Personally.

It depends where you hit people and how. Not brute strength, knowledge.

Fucking hell I hope you don’t raise children. Society really needs purged of these attitudes.

Of course it should be a male job. Those women looked ridiculous and I felt embarrassed for them. But you won’t find many on here to agree with you OP.

And I'm one of them. Thanks, sister.🙄

Where do you get your ideas from?

Professionals don't react like that, the victim's lawyer has said he has a cyst on the brain. You can permanently disable or kill someone by kicking them in the head

The victim was not a threat and was lying defenceless in the ground. He was attacked maliciously in a fit if temper. He's a public servant not a law unto himself and is being paid to do a job.

That isn't what men do at all. The majority of men don't run around stamping on people's heads at work.

If it's an operational requirement that a role needs someone who us 6ft tall then that's fine - you can make that a requirement. Some women are 6ft tall and will meet that requirement. If a shorter woman isn't given the role it's because she's too short, not because she's a woman. But you'd better not then employ someone built like sylvester stallone (5'10") or bruce lee (5'7") or daniel craig (5'10") whose on-screen portrayals show someone more than adequately able to handle themselves.
Unless they are going to stop a bullet using their willy then the willy isn't needed.

It's true that the average man is stronger and faster than the average woman. But women in the top quartile of performance in strength and speed among women are stronger and faster than the average man. Saying that a job is open to women doesn't mean any woman can do it - they still have to prove themselves capable and if necessary the criteria can be things that are rarer and more difficult to achieve for women compared to men. But a woman who can meet the criteria is just as qualified as a man who can meet the criteria.

zzar45 · 25/07/2024 18:52

@User135644 You can't react like that, but men, at least biologically/traditionally, have a protector instinct when it comes to women, at least with friends/colleagues and family.

Given the fact that most women and girls have experienced physical or sexual assault, and the majority of those cases are at the hands of someone close to them it would appear your claim is absolute bullshit in the majority of cases.

He was reacting to his female colleague getting her face smashed in. It was a violent kick to the head, yes, but it got the message across that attacking his colleague was not ever going to be tolerated again. That's what men do. If he'd held back and not done what he did, he will have felt like he failed in his duty to protect his colleague. But the force won't see it that way. The writing is on the wall for him, so I'd just quit right now if I were him.

Shocking that you seem to think that a member of a highly skilled profession should go round behaving like a common thug or a secondary school pupil who gets revenge on someone for beating up his mate.“That’s what men do” is it? His “duty to protect his colleague”? You mean his peer and equal who just so happens to have a vagina and probably didn’t ask for him to commit GBH in her honour? What if his male colleague was assaulted? Is it also fine to go and stamp on someone’s head then or is it only female colleagues that these “men” so instinctively protect? If you can’t control your temper, do not join the police force, end of. And it doesn’t make you look big and hard when you go for someone who is literally incapacitated. Funny that he wasn’t brave enough to protect anyone when the guy was standing up.

By all means the security was a success surely since he came away with a tiny graze from an attempted assassination.
The larger fault lies with intelligence gathering before and on the day.

I always think the bottom line is, who would you want to carry you down the ladder from a burning building, a beefy fireman or a somewhat less beefy firewoman? I'm a dyed-in-the-wool feminist, but I know which I'd choose.

And if you were trapped in same burning building and that big burly fireman couldn't get through the debris but a smaller female firefighter could. Would you change your mind then? Any team should be using each others strengths to get the end result.

Errr how can they NOT sack him when he is on film kicking a man who is subdued, not advancing and lying prone on the ground in the head and then stamping on him? In what warped universe is that acceptable policing to you? I don’t know about racism but that video is a total embarrassment to the GMP.

By the way is there any footage of the three men beating the officers because I haven’t seen any and lots of people were filming? And people are trying to pass off pictures from a newspaper article last year as being of the female officer who apparently suffered a broken nose.

Fewer police in general would be good and make most of them women please 🙏

Why would fewer police be good?

Personally, I would feel a lot safer living in London if there were more female met police officers, not less!
