Sickening behaviour. Surely tasering the man is enough.
He is on the floor tasered so you give him some kickings to the head?

Hope this is properly investigated.
Greater Manchester Police have an awful reputation.

Mock all you like, sweetheart.

Every single incident of police behaving unlawfully whittles away at public confidence in the insitution as a whole, which is already very low.

After seeing the new video, I have more respect for the police. Who wants to volunteer to deal with god-awful violent scum like the ones in this incident?

But many of us won't have signed up for jobs which allow us to havepower over others.

It’s lucky people do turn up given this violent attack is possible

Aulddeacon · 28/07/2024 18:15

How many of us will wake up to go to work tomorrow wondering how many fights I will get into what abuse I’ll take today will I get hurt,
can my nerves take much more of this
police and prison officers think this every working day remember they are humans before they are police or prison officers.
remember we can only judge by our I life experience if you think you can do better then give it a try!!

GeraniumJenny · 28/07/2024 18:27

Males beating up smaller females. Utter scum.

The 2020 incident was mentioned by another poster, who posted some fake news from Twitter, so I went to have a look at what actually happened.

I was struck by the difference in the way the two incidents involving thugs attacking police ended. No kicks in heads, no pepper spraying of bystanders etc. in the 2020 incident.

Where's the video of the incident then, all I see are photos of the injured officer?

There was one thug acting here and not two wasn't there? How many officers were they to deal with and how did they do so? Were there any guns involved?

IClaudine · 28/07/2024 18:18

MyGladEagle · 28/07/2024 18:11

Why did you bring it up then if you're not going to discuss its relevance?

Yes I am angry when people are so quick to criticise the people that get paid little to protect me from violent criminals, why the heck wouldn't I be?

Why do I need to do that? I haven't claimed to be an expert. I simply stated a fact, as in the violent thug was arrested without being kicked in the head.

You seem rather angry.

Let's see what conclusions the investigation sets out.

Do let us know, in your capacity as an expert in dealing with violent situations what training came into play in this particular case which lead to the thug not getting kicked in the head, which should have been applied in this situation.

Just a quick rundown of the type of training officers receive for when they're getting their head punched in should suffice.

Yes

And mumsnet posters undermine them when they claim they've acted unlawfully without knowing what they're talking about.

True hence Burnham’s remarks today

MyGladEagle · 28/07/2024 18:05

IClaudine · 28/07/2024 16:45

Well this poor police office (whose image a pp shamefully tried to exploit) was violently assaulted back in 2020. But somehow the police managed to restrain and arrest the thug without kicking him in the head.

Well fair enough. None of us know whether he acted lawfully or unlawfully at the moment. There was an interesting thread on Twitter from an ex police office about what will be looked at to determine that.

That people don't recognise fake news when it is posted?

Well of course they can die.
But more likely to sustain a serious head injury and die by being stamped on by the head by a big boot than been tasered.

Sorry, you said;

'The use of force should never contribute to anyone's death'.

Do you want force or not because you're not making sense.

Never once throughout this thread have I condoned a stamp to the head. I'm going to reserve my judgement for when the full facts emerge rather than some mobile phone footage which isn't as clear as I would like to form a sound judgement.

There are thousands of officers who do behave lawfully, trying to protect members of the public.

I hope the officer is disciplined but is not sacked.

As for the thugs who were the cause of this whole incident, I hope they’re not allowed to get away with this! Sitting there on their sorry sofa with their lawyer looking like the victims! THIS is what needs to stop!

I agree that the sad face stuff is appalling.

Yeah but they didn’t die in fact they recovered enough to do compo sad face on their sofa

Janiie · 28/07/2024 16:42

Exactly. 'Whittles away at public confidence' my arse. Faced with such violent thugs most people are 100% supportive except for a couple on here who think they should have sat them down and had a lovely heart to heart with them first. Maybe offered them a nice cup of tea before <checks notes> undermining themselves.

Yes the let yourself down rebuke is a bit much. They faced something most of us are lucky enough not to

I also think it’s easy to see how the outcome would be very different in another country where a fatal approach would be more likely

The full video likely has brought support for the officers

Just seeing the sheer violence they face and still turning up so others are safe

Starting pay £28k?

Working nights and weekends?

Chance of getting your head kicked in and if you strike back, a whole Internet of armchair experts dissect your every move, second by second in slo-mo and pass judgement?

Chance of going to prison?

It's a no from me.

And this. Armchair experts after a violent attack like that

Gummybear23 · 28/07/2024 16:37

MoosakaWithFries · 28/07/2024 16:09

You can die from being tasered - rare but people have.

If you had some guy running towards you with a machete and an officer about to taser them, would you ask the officer to kindly stop just in case?

Police need to use force. It will, regrettably and on occasions result in someones death.

Well of course they can die.
