Sickening behaviour. Surely tasering the man is enough.
He is on the floor tasered so you give him some kickings to the head?

Hope this is properly investigated.
Greater Manchester Police have an awful reputation.

Do you think in the time it happened that they realised they were attacking police officers, let alone armed police officers?

It seemed to happen very quickly. From their perspective, they are standing in a queue when 4 people turn up, put you in a headlock - and then the fight starts.

Do you think it's possible they didn't realise they were police, let alone armed police?

We haven't got any audio - and the body cams will show any conversation that happened

He probably didn’t even realise it was woman’s nose he broke. He punched her in the face so quickly, it would have been impossible for him to tell.

Poor lad, blinded by upset for his poor brother. The police should just leave people alone, instead of tricking them into police assault situations.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 28/07/2024 09:37

I mean, who hasn’t broken someone’s nose and kicked the shit out of someone only to realise it was a police officer they hit?

If only there was a way to distinguish the police, I don’t know, special clothing or anything.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 28/07/2024 09:34

*Why not?

It happened very quickly.*

The thug in the blue hoodie went back and forth attacking several police officers. Not a chance that he didn't see their uniforms.

greengreyblue · 28/07/2024 09:34

The men turn to see the police before they start fighting . They knew who they were. The man in grey starts it, he gets tasered and that’s why he is seen sitting on a chair. The man in blue then jumps on officers back( he has already broken the woman officer’s nose) and starts attacking. He is fought off, and when on floor is tasered and kicked and stamped on. I still think the stamping is vile but can see the threat they were under. Not sure if they have guns, why they didn’t hold them at gunpoint instead. Anyone know?

Now you mention it, no, they just didn’t realise it was the police they assaulted.

Easy mistake to make.

Hmm

By saying " in some cultures it is acceptable to break a woman's nose" We are fueling an anti Muslim narrative. I'm not Muslim but I'm sick of reading these lazy stereotypes.

Who’s we? And why do you assume the PP meant it’s Muslims who condone violence against women? You mentioned religion not the PP

Extended video doesn't change my position that the officer went beyond what was reasonable and lawful and should be charged with a criminal offence.

Might provide a whole lot of mitigation as to what punishment he should face, but it doesn't change the fact that he assaulted the man.

It does change perspective/circumstances slightly though, as it wasn't clear in the beginning how quickly after the assault on the police it happened.

Usercyzabc · 28/07/2024 09:26

Im glad the police were tough as hopefully it sends a clear message to people who can’t behave properly they are at risk of swift retaliation. This isn’t a case of the police acting first, this is the case of a response to violence against armed officers in an airport, people seriously need some perspective.

Things are so bad that people are actually starting to see that this escalation is becoming inevitable.

I'm 100% with the police. Attacking armed police officers in an airport is extremely serious and they are lucky they were not shot.

Agree

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 28/07/2024 09:26

I read somewhere that firearms officers are trained to use their feet so they can keep hold of their firearm with their hands. No idea if that's true but it would make sense.

Looking at the extended footage, it looks as though both sides acted badly.🤷‍♀️

A shrug for this? Looks brutal to me just for doing a job

PBandJ111 · 28/07/2024 09:24

what about personal responsibility …. If you’re going to fight with armed police at an airport you’ve got to deal with the consequences.

ArseholeCatIsABlackAndWhiteCat · 28/07/2024 09:23

With hindsight - I wonder if the police would have approached it differently.

Possibly. To be fair I don't think they expected that outcome, regardless. Whether through lack of information,or training or something else. It's possible that the initial approach should be reviewed as well, for the police officers' sake and safety.

The lack of sound doesn't help either to get a clearer picture.

If footage like this is to be released it should be released in its entirety from the start or not released at all.

Gummybear23 · 28/07/2024 09:21

100% no.
The police have no right to kick in someone's head .

The officers should be trained to deesulate a situation and take control.

Not get angry and kick someone in the head.
They lads lashed out and needed to be tasered.
Detained.
There are people with mental health issues to attack police officers in a very aggressive way.
However they don't deserve to be beaten to death. Or shot dead.

Quite. You would have thought that people who have just got off an international flight and gone through relevant security would be much less likely to be in possession of explosives or weapons than the average person on the street.

This is all a bit armchair trainee police officer

Can you try to imagine what it’s like to face such violence
