To think it’s completely and utterly unacceptable for men to compete in women’s sports?

How the hell is this being allowed! I’ve seen the volume of medals they are earning - medals which should be earned by women. Men and women are not physically comparable and this is just a line which once again shouldn’t be crossed.

I think the people who don’t care also don’t care about sport. so you are going to struggle to get them to engage. then there are the many who are happy to see women btrought down a peg or two.
So most don’t think you can change sex but many don’t care when it happens, sadly.

Fizbosshoes · 25/07/2024 08:18

Sport literally has all the separate categories to create a level playing field and fair competition

You can't self identify as disabled to compete in the paralympics....because that would be unfair.

You can't self identify as a 16 year old to compete in the U18 category....because that would be unfair

You can't self identify as a flyweight boxer...because that would be unfair

...And the same level of unfairness happens if men identify as women....but in some cases that's deemed to be ok....Confused

Startingagainandagain · 25/07/2024 08:18

Agreed.

Men's bodies will always be more powerful and it is completely unfair for women to have to compete against male athletes.

I have nothing against people transitioning but the process is never going to magically give you the body (muscles, bones, height) of a woman. You can't change these characteristics.

It is just common sense.

I do think female competitors should unite and simply refuse to take part in the competition process while this is going on.

Eddie Izzard isn’t and never will be a “she” despite what he would like people to call him. Just because he was likeable as a man, doesn’t mean we have to allow him to share a bathroom or a sport with us.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 25/07/2024 08:16

It all depends on at what level and personal circumstances.

And no it does bloody well not. No male should be competing in women's sports, whether that's Olympic swimming or the local 'fun' cricket club. At all.

Your relative is FtM (which is impossible btw) so does not possess the same physiological advantage as males. It's not the same. It's an insult for females everywhere for you to try and find loopholes and excuses.

Princessfluffy · 25/07/2024 08:16

For the record we certainly don't all love Eddie Izzard.

We are in this situation because we all (or most of us) agreed that male people could be women. And the only way out of it is to acknowledge that they are not actually women, and never can be.

I don’t believe most of us ever did agree male people could be women. The majority of the federal public had no idea this batshittery was going on until it started to get out of control and we got to where we are.

i think a poll among the public would show that the majority don’t believe anyone can change sex. Most people imo are sick and tired of this whole #bekind being forced upon us at the expense of women’s safeguarding because of men who can’t understand the word ‘no’

Edited

I agree - we were just being polite - no one can change sex, we just didn’t realise that this politeness would lead to the insanity of men invading women’s spaces, sports etc.

I think you can only speak for yourself. Eddie Izzard gets on my nerves. And I'm not claiming Eddie Izzard as a she because Eddie Izzard has male musculature and oxygen capacity.

Princessfluffy · 25/07/2024 08:14

What's wrong is that men are allowed to trample all over women's rights under the banner of "women need to be kind".
It's Taliban style oppression dressed up in Trans ideology.

IcedPurple · 25/07/2024 08:13

YANBU.

And I don't think any reasonable person would disagree with you.

EasternStandard · 25/07/2024 08:10

Yanbu so many posts say it well

Makes me want to rage. It’s beyond what women and girls should have to deal with

I can’t even type how strongly I feel on it

Bit of an odd assumption. I can't stand him, and completely disregard his recorded times, because they aren't female records.

It all depends on at what level and personal circumstances. I have a reletuve (F-M) that plays a team sport and is fully accepted as a "man" but it's just for fun, yes a league but no one takes it that seriously.

At the other extreme, international governing bodies have rules and in most sports trans women cannot compete if they have been through male puberty. There is a breakdown of rules for the Olympics on one of the newspaper websites, can't remember which one I read it yesterday. Some sports have renamed men as open to be "inclusive" but women are protected and there is hormone testing as well as the trans restrictions.

I'll bet that 'just for fun' sport isn't boxing.

How many transwomen applied for the Open category after the Workd Aquatics changed it. I'll give you the answer- none. Why do you think that is?

Fair Play for Women exposed the US Rowing rules: "You pick your “gender” at the start of the season, and you’re done. No more fair racing for females then, because any male can declare themselves a woman and race in women’s and girls’ events."

There is one exception in the US Rowing policy. It is for mixed crew races, which require equal numbers of male and female rowers in each boat. In those events, the females must be “assigned female at birth”. Yes, they can see that letting males claim female seats in the boat gives that crew an unfair advantage, but in this case it affects their male opposition, so it’s not allowed."

Men with DSD winning women's Olympic medals is fine, men playing women's grassroots sports is fine, men changing in women's changing rooms is fine, men pushing women out of women's sports is fine, women not being able to play mens sports is fine because they'd be doping is fine - the men making these decisions are fine with it because it doesn't effect them. They know it's cheating which is why when it does affect them - in mixed teams, they don't allow it.

It's like when the Gender Recognition Act was written, a clause was included which says if a man obtains a Gender Recognition Certificate, he would not be excluded from inheriting a title, even if he had an older sister, even if she also had a GRC! Men's rights.

Absolutely.

However the internet would have you believe otherwise 🙄

itsgettingweird · 25/07/2024 07:47

Accidentally** I call her a she because she's trans.

I DO NOT condone sports being competed in in any other way other than birth sex.

Luckily that's changing.

But do not judge. My ds is an elite para sportsman so I've done my fair share of working towards equality in sport.

There is a long way to go to improve equality - for example all governing bodies adopting female birth sex and make/open categories.

However the forth of what happens isn't as sore as people on the internet (who often read media reports rather than actively are involved) would have others believe.

And they are the ones who spout about "truth".

hollyblueivy · 25/07/2024 07:45

Parkrun is another example A they don't publish sex based results now as men identifying as women was making the results impossible for women to beat.

mitogoshi · 25/07/2024 07:40

As for mentioning cricket, women are allowed and do compete alongside men at the amateur level, have done for years. It's not a contact sport and ability on a typical team will be very varied. I don't know the rules at professional level in the U.K. but the ones I see look like natal women

Just like female rape survivors should set up and fund their own single sex rape crisis support?

Er, no. Men just need to stay the hell out of places which are for women. However they identify.

Shouldn't it be the other way round though? Because it was largely women who set up the rape survivor services and the DV services. So they shouldn't have to do this all over again. Transwomen should set up their own separate services.

I didn’t agree to it either, and neither did many women I know. I doubt many sportswomen agreed either.
