Our business has passed an important audit so we ordered dominos for lunch.
Enough dominos pizza to give everyone 1/2 a pizza each and sides and drinks.

Total cost was £450.

One of the senior managers just had to have a word with one of the other senior leadership team that putting 3 entire pizzas, sides and a drink in his car because 'he wanted to take it home for his family and would freeze the leftovers' isn't appropriate when the admin staff haven't even had chance to get any pizza yet.

Our work generally have No issues with people taking leftovers but not when other people haven't even had lunch yet!!

Anyone else work with cheeky bastards?

I hate the assumption that as a meat eater I will eat whatever meat things there is. I always order veggie pizzas when buying for myself. I hate pepperoni. Can't stand it.

I have to admit, I am a meat eater, but at work, they invariably order the meat pizzas as pepperoni, which I hate, so I go for the veggie one. I often have a veggie pizza at home as I generally think veg a better match with pizza than meat. Obviously I wouldn't take more than my share at work!

I don’t much like pepperoni either but we do flag that the veggies won’t have any food if everyone eats the veggie. We do get more veggie now than meat but I think if we do pizza again we just do veggie. Last time we got halal (as most of our veggies are not veggie but only eat halal meat) but they said they didn’t trust it so some ended up not eating! So veggie pizza all round it is next time. I don’t want to ban non veggies eating the veggie pizza!

VividQuoter · 24/07/2024 20:17

I cannot imagine ...all stories about the better paid people grabbing chocolates or sandwiches. These are so cheap to buy, if not the cheapest food items

Agreed. I am not a fan of meat pizza but eat meat. @Zanatdy Maybe a better options is to order half or three quarters the pizzas as veggie and the rest meat. Or all veggie as you have said!

It’s not pedantry, it’s accuracy. I’m not a psychic either, so why you expect me to know what was unofficial practice, I can’t imagine.

No you're not psychic

Just nitpicking.

It had been practice unofficially that the person booking the travel got the points.

Said manager already had a squillion perks and a three figure salary.

You stay pedantic now.

Absolutely fair that you should have got the points.

Oh, how unlucky! They must have been gutted to be so ill when their son arrived.

Yes but did manage to fly over and help with the move whilst both were too ill to work.

They were also able to attend viewings for houses. I just don’t know how they managed it all.

Also, you mean six figure salary.

NOW I’m being pedantic…

You're still here! You legend, loved your original thread👏🏻 😂

Nothing like free food to bring the cheeky office feckers out in force. So many stories of those who contribute nothing, but are first in line for food or to complain. Plus the people who insist on eating all the veggie pizza despite being meat eaters! I’ve had to confiscate veggie pizza before now. Next time I’m just ordering all veggie

We had one of those! She was ordering supplies for her church work from Office Depot on our work account!

Secondary school teaching department. We are supposedly responsible for different year groups. I plan e.g. Year 10 well in advance, put everything on the system for colleagues to use.

Colleague who is supposed to plan Year 11 and is also head of department, just doesn't do it. Right up to the last minute before I'm supposed to be teaching the topic she still hasn't done it. The night before, I end up doing it myself. She breezes into my classroom. "O... what's that? Don't forget to put everything on the shared drive!" I end up planning everything for both year groups. She's my line manager.

Don't put anything on the shared drive or she'll never learn. Those types of HoDs always ground my gears!!

The work photocopier was going through alot more paper and ink than normal. I came in early to see a staff member with a pile of pages printed off. She taught Sunday School when not working with us. When I pointed out it was stealing, she said she didn't think it mattered because she was doing God's work!

I used to work with a boss who at 2pm every day, would kick back his chair, tip back his head, and have a 45 minute nap. Every day. Not his lunch break - he took those earlier in the day. Didn't even hide it - it was incredible.

My current colleagues are CFers in the sense that they all refuse to work Christmas because they've got kids - but I've had that in every job I've worked.

The CFs need to work Xmas. Do they expect you to do it.

Aliciainwunderland · 24/07/2024 20:04

My workplace had a monthly breakfast for staff. Had a colleague, luckily not on my team but another near by team, who would arrive with a carrier bag and start loading up. Pretty sure he was the reason it stopped being a self service breakfast.

he also would never buy his own toilet paper and would just steal a few rolls a week. Also, took from the drink fridge to stock up his home.

At a place I used to work we did secret santa. I wasn't overly bothered about taking part but did in the spirit of things.

My santa was one of the most senior managers, which i worked out after the occasion. Just before the works christmas party we all gathered to each receive our presents which were all laid on the table, except I didn't have one. They were going round the room asking each person what they got. I felt my stomach fall and tears stung my eyes. I just quietly walked out of the room and the building and went home and didn't bother with the Christmas plans that afternoon.

A bottle of prosecco turned up on my desk a few days later. Nice, but I'll never forget being excluded. The same person also absolutely promised my job would be safe and I would be coming back post furlough. I was made redundant. Fuck you, EM.

Omg the same thing happened to me- wine in the NY. But it wasn’t the same.

Unlike you I didn’t quietly take myself off. I loudly proclaimed how disappointed I was and how unprofessional the person buying my present was. I proper got on my high horse about it!

Last week at an end of term celebration at work we held a 'Bring a plate' shared lunch. About 25 people from our department were invited, but obviously not compulsory. About 20 people got involved and brought various dishes- some homemade , some shop bought and some just jumbo bags of crisps/ snacks. There was loads left , so we put leftovers in the fridge to finish the next day and kept open bags of snacks and perishables on desks in office for staff to nibble on in the afternoon. We were more than happy for those who hadn't contributed to have a plate of leftovers. One person who hadn't contributed anything, emptied the fridge of whole quiches, plates of sandwiches and filled someone else's tupperware boxes full of cakes and biscuits and staggered out to her car with so much food saying it would feed them and their kids for a couple of days. Now this is somebody who wasn't short of a shilling by any stretch of the imagination.

😲 did nobody say anything?! That's outrageous!

I know someone who runs a toddler group. She's paid, but most of the people that she hasn't bullied away are volunteers.
She buys toys new which the organisation pays and then sells them. She's sold an inside wooden climbing frame and around 6-8 little coupe cars since 2022 for example. The only two left for the toddlers to use are the ones that have been there since at least 2001 (when my dc went to it). She bought all the others in 2022/3.
She has been seen putting them into her car and then they never return. If she's challenged then she claims they're broken. It's always the new toys that go into her car "broken", toys that are older and broken just go into the bins at the community centre.
Anyone who challenges her is either bullied out or she does a big show of "oh my poor mental health, I can't cope".

She's also very friendly with the safeguarding officer, who ignores any concerns on that side too.

At my old job we were all working on Easter Sunday and I bought everyone a full size Easter egg each, given out in our midday briefing meeting.

Two of my team couldn't get to the meeting so I said I'd bring the eggs up to them, at the end of the meeting I caught one woman putting three eggs in her locker. I said "It's only one per person, those are for Alex and Ben" and she stuck her bottom lip out and said "That's not fair, I can't go home with just one egg I have three children".

I left that job two years ago now but it still pisses me off 😂

Did you take the eggs back?

Years ago I booked the travel for our organisation. It was hundreds of thousands as the engineers travelled to Las Vegas, Korea, Bolonga etc.

The hotels they stayed in gave points out if you booked them in there and I was told I couldn't accept them. I was on about a fifth of the managers salary but found he'd been claiming my points, which amounted to cases of wine, weekend luxury hotel stays, free cinema tickets. It was over a thousand pounds worth, and the fucker already over claimed on his expenses.

Bastard

But they weren’t your points either.
