Quotes to makes it aibu worthy but, I've ditched my husband and my young kids (8mnth + 3yr) tonight to go out for a couple of drinks tonight and feel like maybe I'm strange.

I mean I'll still be out even if the consensus is that it is strange, but does anyone without childcare just go out by themselves for a few a drinks every few weeks since they can't do it as a couple and they don't have a friendship group yet.

Fwiw we just moved to this area in February but I was a lone fish before then to tbf.

I take my Kindle and prop myself up at a bar or in a restaurant quite regularly, especially when travelling for work.

Have done for many years because when ai was single in my 20s and working crazy shifts I realised I wouldn't get to do anything otherwise. Since then I've been in several solo holidays, lots of city breaks in the UK, the theatre, cinema, fancy restaurants, nice bars, dive bars and everything in between.

I go out to do a hobby sometimes! Its one where i dont know anyone there really so not exactly out with friends (though the others are nice enough and acquaintances now) I don't go out for drink alone though, not my style. I think it's good to get a little alone time when you can once you're a parent as it can be difficult!

Go to the pictures. I've recently rediscovered the fun of the cinema and love it.

I wouldn't mind it if people wanted to talk to me for a little while but generally not arsed either way tbh.

Are you planning to get chatting to other people?
