Husband thinks boob job using inheritance is dumb

I received a small inheritance from my grandmother. Dh and I have agreed a couple things it will go on ( mutually beneficial). With the remainder I said I will look into getting a breast lift. Dh has stated how much a waste he thinks this is but equally said it’s your money.

For context, I like my boobs but ONLY when they are in a bra (so that’s why dh considers it a waste). I’m 130 pounds but wear a 32 e. I just hate the way they hang. But it is easily solved by wearing bras. So I do kind of see the point. With the size of my boobs it’s not like I could wear a tight top and go braless. That’s not the goal.

I’m 31 and just want to love my entire body I guess. DH suggested I go to Turkey but I would rather stick to a UK surgeon.

We are not in debt and own our house. Of course there are loads of things that the money could go on.

Is it silly? I guess I am concerned my judgement is clouded and I am being controlled to a certain extent by an insecurity.

to everyone saying wait till you older, they already look pretty saggy. Genuinely similar to what I have indicated in image attached. And they’ve pretty much looked like this since early 20s

That's just larger breasts. That's how they are. They have more weight so hang lower.

thaisweetchill · 19/07/2024 14:52

I'm 30 and have GG cups, if I come in to money I will be having a reduction and lift. They are the BAIN of my life.

Any nice top I wear is ruined by them, in the summer I am so uncomfortable. I'd love to wear a non wired bra but they just do not hold them up.

So get them done if you want them too! But make sure you do them in this country.

wellno · 19/07/2024 14:50

I had a breast reduction a few years ago in my mid fifties. Had I known how transformative it would be I would have had it done at a much younger age.

Uhjo · 19/07/2024 14:47

Im definitely not doing it for dh!

We are fine financially. Have savings which we are building up again after buying house.

Mine are the same size and shape, if I had the money I would do it in a heartbeat.

Growlybear83 · 19/07/2024 14:46

I would very much agree with other people to have the surgery here rather than overseas, and research your surgeon carefully beforehand.

It’s your choice but I think it’s a bit sad you’re willing do something so drastic. Self acceptance should be the goal really. How old are you? How are you going to cope with the aging process?
it’s major surgery with scars and pain.

Why is it sad? If it will make the OP feel more content with her body, what's wrong with it? It's not particularly major surgery - my understanding is that it takes between 60-90 minutes and the recovery from that will be quick. I had a three hour operation on my back on Monday and walked out of the hospital three hours later - recovery from surgery is much quicker than it used to be.

Takeitonthechin · 19/07/2024 14:44

I would make money with it

Yes it’s silly because you say you’re doing it for him yet he doesn’t seem to think its necessary - or at least not as opposed to going to Turkey. Going to turkey is even sillier.

lf any man told me to travel to Turkey for surgery which can have complications, I wouldn’t give a toss what he thought of my breasts. He wouldn’t be getting with two miles of them.

Have you had dc?

OrwellianTimes · 19/07/2024 14:43

Your body your rules, it doesn’t sound like you really need it, but if you can afford it, are aware of the risks then it’s your choice. Just do it in the U.K. don’t scrimp on surgery.

AinmEile · 19/07/2024 14:42

Your money, your choice. I wouldn't do it, but I likely spend my money on things you wouldn't.

blueberryforest · 19/07/2024 14:41

I wonder if some people are just never comfortable walking around braless, because I'm only a B-cup, not particularly saggy, yet I can't stand the feel of walking around for long without a bra. Just the sensation is unpleasant to me. I only say this because what if you spend the money on this and find that you still don't like walking around your home without a bra?

For me, the negatives (risk of surgery, uncertainty of how much difference it will make, cost) would outweigh any potential benefits of unnecessary surgery.

Loloj · 19/07/2024 14:41

As long as you understand the risks then go for it. Especially if it’s your inheritance. Your husband obviously loves you as you are so it’s right that you’d be doing it for yourself

Whatthefuck3456 · 19/07/2024 14:41

It’s your money and your body! I’ve had mine done and it’s by far one of the best decisions I’ve made.

User364837 · 19/07/2024 14:40

moanyhole · 19/07/2024 14:40

I have a large chest too OP and they also are saggy since my 20s, I did look into it but I would have had to have a reduction also for any kind of an uplift to last, so I decided not to go ahead.

Despite this my husband of 20 years adores my boobs and this over time has led me to think they're grand as they are. I look good in a bra so kind of glad I didn't go for the surgery in the end- it would have been trading sagginess for scars anyway.

I'd say give it 6 months to a year to think about it, if after that you still want to go ahead then go for it!

Jacopo · 19/07/2024 14:40

Do it! But get a good UK surgeon - don’t risk going abroad.

Jennyathemall · 19/07/2024 14:39

It’s your money, your body, go for it. Pretty much everyone who has actually done has commented how much it has changed their lives for the better. Myself included.

bonzaitree · 19/07/2024 14:38

Hm im in 2 minds… I think really it depends on your overall level of financial security (which we don’t know).

Lolabear38 · 19/07/2024 14:38

To be honest, I think unless anyone has been in your shoes (or bra!) then they can’t really comment? It sounds like you have a very small frame and a big bust which potentially could be very painful. Do you have back pain? I have a friend who was in this situation and she had an uplift and reduction and she says the quality of her life has improved dramatically. Her back pain has all but gone, she can wear pretty much whatever she wants and she is so much more confident. If this sounds like it could be you too then I would say go for it!

Investinmyself · 19/07/2024 14:36

You’d have got very different responses if you said reduction as too large for frame was causing you back pain and fungal infections. If you want it done it’s your money I’d go for it.

lozengeoflove · 19/07/2024 14:34

Do it, OP! It’s not a waste of money at all. It’s a price to pay to feel happy in your own skin. And my boobs looked amazing in a bra too, but what’s the point when they don’t look amazing all the time. They do now!

I’ve had both a reduction and a lift as well as a tummy tuck this week and couldn’t be happier.

Your money, your body, your choice. You’ll love it!!!

Growlybear83 · 19/07/2024 14:33

It's the last thing I would want to spend money on but it's your money and if it's important to you, then it's no-one else's business what you do with it.

Exactlab · 19/07/2024 14:33

An E cup is pretty big. It would cause neck and back pain. I would go for the surgery but not in Turkey. Be aware it will take years for your scars to lighten and until tgrn you will look like a patchwork quilt.

runrabbitruns · 19/07/2024 14:32

Breast reductions and lifts are life changing. Breasts dictate what clothes you can wear and how you feel when naked. I’d go for it. But please don’t go to Turkey.
