I’m not English. I have lived in England for a very long time. I do not support the England football team, I frequently support their opposition! Colleague has taken the England loss hard, and said ‘ I bet you’re glad they lost’ - I replied that I was essentially a neutral but thought Spain deserved the win. Hes gone off in a big old rant about how if I live here I should be supporting England teams etc. I think he should have a wee lie down and chill out! YABU - you SHOULD support the team of a country you’ve made a life in - even if you are from a former colony of that country YANBU - of course you don’t have to support a national team that’s not yours

No one cares who you support or if you’re neutral, it’s this endless anti England crap (which really has nothing to do with the football) I think most of us are fed up with.

Would anyone realistically expect me to support Man U??

The only people I know who don't support another UK team in a championship type thing are all pretend casual types tbf

I think everyone should be free to support and not support who they want.

Here was a snap last night from my Pakistani cousin who lives there and was born and raised there. She was gutted.

My other cousin supported Spain even though she’s never been there.

No one judged anyone!

England is where we work, kids were born and go to school etc etc . It makes sense to support them

And your kids are English!
Same with my Dad and his family ,he emigrated to England when he was 11 he's 82 now he supports England mainly, and him and his family have always been big Man u fans
I do remember us all dancing round the lounge though in 1990 when Ireland got through to the Quarter finals in on penalties.

Unless people are regularly going to England games then they're not really supporters. Most people in England will have mixed loyalties anyway. I favour Wales at rugby and football and England at cricket for example. There are no rules, unless you're Norman Tebbit.

let’s just say he was tired and emotional. He’s also a Man U fan so is going through a tough time in general 😅

That's a bit daft of her whilst I certainly dint agree with violence after football, why would you deliberately antagonise fans?

She goes to a lot of trouble to get her point across. Buying expensive football shirts and finding out England supporting pubs instead of ones for her side.

Seems a bit mean to frequently support the opposition rather than England - like it's not just that you have loyalties elsewhere.

Well, I think it’s a bit weird of you but entirely your choice.
From my Facebook newsfeed, I gather a lot of people feel edgy or superior if they don’t support England, which is fine.
As a lot of posters have said, I’d support the country I lived in (unless competing with my country of birth) and I also support any country in the U.K remaining in a competition.
The ‘anti-England’ thing is a little tedious.
