Wearing a skimpy bikini around teenage son

I'm late 40's and have recently lost alot of weight. I have treated myself to some new bikinis for an upcoming beach holiday and some are thong styles. I did originally buy the thong ones for when me and DH go away later in the year alone. But every holiday I go on abroad there is so many people younger and older than me showing all their bums! When I was a teen it was rare, but not anymore. Just not sure I'm brave enough or if it would be a massive no with adult/teen children! Wwyd?

Why would having an "amazing body" matter one way or the other?

Thudercatsrule · 02/09/2024 14:31

Even if you have an amazing body they look ridiculous and attention seeking.

NortheastYankee · 02/09/2024 13:54

The Love Island girls don't wear one's that fit well.

Good on you for ignoring your DS. I think it's probably awkward for a lot of boys to realize that their mom is a woman and dresses like it. They can deal. It's a good lesson for them.

kerstina · 18/08/2024 18:19

I don’t even think the love island girls looked good in them so no I wouldn’t wear them. I used to wear a normal binkini to sit outside my caravan no one could see me but my family . I am slim and petite not that it matters but teenage DS had a problem with it . I just ignored him!

NortheastYankee · 18/08/2024 17:34

Yeah, they're really common now and frankly are no big deal

NortheastYankee · 16/08/2024 17:39

Will your son cringe? Perhaps. Will it hurt him to see your butt? No. And he can endure some embarrassment. I actually think it's a good model for him that women of any age can wear what's comfortable and fashionable and there's nothing weird about it.

Its amazing the different consensus on this thread, considering a couple of weeks ago, a mother was told to butt (😄) out of her 15 year old daughter's wardrobe choice of teeny bikinis which were making the grandparents uncomfortable on a family holiday.

You do you! Parents are damn well allowed to cause their children to cringe.

Only the uptight repressed English even think about it

I'm not English!

Like a spider being strangled.

My final thoughts on the matter: thong bikinis should be compulsory on all beaches for all adults.

Hope you look good in one, then.

StarlightLady · 15/07/2024 19:56

How can any western country enforce a ban? Who is going to decide how much cheek is acceptable? Sounds like a bum job to me!

Whilst the English tend to be atypically repressed they are not alone regrettably.

@Dynamitepussycat

It would be very difficult to get a vagina out, unless you have some sort of grade A prolapse.

You mean vulva, don't you?

🙄

No 3: Always double check one's spelling

letsgoooo · 15/07/2024 18:14

@GhostMum

Yeah, I suppose I don’t spend as much time online as you seem to to be going back and forth checking usernames. Enjoy your life on here hunny, I’m going to go live in the real world now ✌🏻
The absolute brilliant irony of someone on MN suggesting people in MN are wasting time.
🤣🤣🤣

@Runnerinthenight

I guess some of us have more class than others.
The two absolutes of having class

  1. Never degrad other people
  2. Never claim to have class
LlynTegid · 15/07/2024 18:10

The OP made her decision five days ago. I agree with @Cicero1 and let's not then start a discussion about what to wear (or not) in a sauna.

I don’t like the thong bikini look, never have, never will, so I wouldn’t. But that’s not because of my kids or what others might think, it’s because I think they look utterly ridiculous.

I guess some of us have more class than others.
