Why does his Google history show he was at an industrial estate at night

Last night I was on Dh’s phone-not snooping…initially at least. I was turning lullaby music off that he and our dc had fallen asleep to.
It showed the travel history of where he’d been/been driving etc. I just thought it was quite interesting at first, don’t think I have it on my phone or if I do, no idea how to access it! I started looking and it was all pretty boring-travel to work, certain shops, cafes etc, a friends house. One entry from last Sunday shows him going out in the evening driving for 30 minutes, it says here no location/location not shown. Then from around 10.30-11.30 pm, it shows a location and when I looked at it, it’s an industrial estate. This is really strange isn’t it?! Making me so paranoid, what would you make of it?

Out of interest, after reading this thread, my DH and I looked through his Google history to see if he had anything weird on there (I have mine turned off).

Apparently on Monday he spent 45 minutes at a Premier Inn, at a location 3.5hrs away from our home. Looks pretty suspicious.

We were on holiday together and I was with him at the time. We walked past a Premier Inn on the opposite side of the road, without even pausing.

Google location history definitely isn't reliable!

I suspect we shall never find out what the secret squirrel was up to....

I've surmised from this thread that:
1 - Posters think stalking is perfectly acceptable and not creepy in the slightest
2 - there's a secret Mumsnet Furry community
3 - some of you spend far too much time listening to true crime podcasts
4 - some of you know far too much about prostitution for it not to be insider knowledge
5 - you're all batshit crazy

Haha! This!

On such scant info, the amount of people that leaped to ‘defo a prostitute’ is not normal!

upthehills1 · 07/07/2024 16:46

I do think you should ask yourself why you snooped on his location history in the first place. Your posts suggest you are kind of nonchalant and just came across it while on his phone for another reason. Sorry but you definitely went snooping

If you went looking because you have a feeling he’s up to something he shouldn’t (for whatever reason), you need to be honest with yourself about that.

Im not totally against snooping if you have good reason to believe somethings up. it’s not as if cheating is a rare phenomenon. I’ve done it myself and was proven to be right.

Can you ask around locally (friends, locals, call an estate agent?) if that area is known for something in particular. Pretend a friend had asked you or you’re considering a business there or some other made up excuse. When I was looking for a house several locals warned me against a particular area due to prostitution.

I have Family Link on my phone to track my kids. On occasion, it'll tell me one or the other of them has "left school" and their phone will be in a location fairly nearby.

I don't know why it does this, they've never left school once they've been there (yes, I have called and the receptionist has literally trotted down to check!)

Honestly if it's for an hour, it's far more likely to be that. No man has enough get up and go to spend a singular hour driving to an out of the way place to go dogging or to see a prostituted woman. Well, not unless he's previously done things like that. Or maybe he's nipped out for a Big Mac in peace but doesn't want you to know as you're dieting because you've just had a baby? (I say this because I caught my husband doing this - little did he know it was the mustard smear on his lip that showed him up Grin)

Google timeline can be wrong. My last month's timeline shows me visiting an industrial estate in Birkenhead several times - and I haven't been to Birkenhead for 25 years at least.

Yes. Mine often says 'visited a restaurant' twice in the last month or whatever.

Sometimes I've not even driven past that spot.

Also if I divide distance driven by time I apparently drive at kerb-crawling speed.

Funny you should say this, @Nachosanddips, but according to Google's location finder, I am writing this from a suburb of a city 60km away from where I actually am physically. We live in the near Middle East and we and our friends often find that Google location finder tells us we are in a completely different country from where we live. In the past week, much to our surprise, a few of us have shown as being in the Lebanon, at Beirut International Airport (it seems to have been the same day that we've dropped someone off at our local airport!). So I honestly wouldn't worry, I reckon it's just a google glitch.

Sunshineonararainydayyy · 07/07/2024 15:07

Sorry but like pps I think it will be a prostitute. Watched 24hrs in police custody and there was a prostitute in the episode that was parked up in a caravan on an industrial estate. The man was out within 5mins though.

Just thinking of the poor woman whose husband tried to murder her by rigging her parachute, she had no idea what he was up to (affairs, sex clubs etc)

He doesn’t have Pokémon Go, he’s 45 😬
Realy don’t want to drive there at that time at night, but feel I need to, where would I say I was going though? Considering I rarely ever go out in the evenings, only occasional girls nights, I’d never venture out at 10.30 on my own, it will seem very strange

Don't make assumptions based on age - after all, you're the one worried that you don't really know him and what he's doing. I'm 50 and play Pokemon whilst walking the dog. Beats a bland exercise tracker.

@Whothefuckdoesthat Its the first time I looked at it, haven’t looked before as didn’t realise it came up or so detailed

Is it his phone location or the vehicle app? Are there other ‘missing’ trips on there?

Could be totally innocent or super dodgy (or doggy..!)

So many people seem to do this. They should get the Ferber sleep training book and reclaim their evenings.

Yes it’s so weird. Why would
you accept this? It’s not the point of the thread no but if your relationship is in trouble - never spending the evening together and taking it in turns to lie in your DD’s bed for hours may well be the reason. Sort it out.

Op has a newborn so can't follow him.

Put it in its car seat or ask a friend/neighbour to pop round for an hour?

Let him think you've fell asleep then drive out.

I don't have an issue with 70 year old men on here, as long as they don't get belligerent with other posters.

For people saying Google Maps isn't accurate, the issue is that it's been accurate all the rest of the time on her husband's phone.

And 99% of the time it’s accurate for me too. But on a rare occasion it’s been 0.5 a mile off!
