I understand this isn't for everyone but I love a good woo story. Even if you've seen/experienced something but aren't 100% sure and are on the fence, I'd love to hear your stories.

I've had a few experiences myself, nothing majorly scary just in my old house I'd often hear loud clear footsteps when nobody could be there and often saw a shadow figure, sometimes right infront of me and other times in my peripheral so can understand why people think they've seen something but can't be sure. I also worked in a pub that had some poltergeist type activity and various figures had been seen by staff and customers. I'd love to hear yours!

@Downunderduchess I don't need you to explain anything to me. Move on and stop ruining what was an enjoyable thread, please!

@Itsthesameoldstory sorry for the loss of your DF Flowers but I'm sure it was a comfort to feel and experience him around you afterwards. I had similar in my old house with seeing things out of the corner of my eye, it was shadows really and sometimes I'd catch sight of them full on. I never really saw distinctive clothing or features, more a dark figure with no discerning features. But as @SpeculatingRooks said lol, 70s clothes weren't the best fashion and hopefully he wasn't stuck at work (providing your workplace wasn't there when he was alive and he haunts his old workplace)

SpeculatingRooks · 19/07/2024 09:29

@Itsthesameoldstory poor ghost stuck wearing 70s clothes for eternity! This is why you should choose your outfits very carefully, if you die today they will become your ghost clothes!

@Downunderduchess I'm allowed to post as often as I want on my thread, thanks. And people are entitled to an opinion, but don't have to be rude to me. It's incredibly weird how often you're watching I've posted and what I've posted btw.

Edited

For goodness sake, I noticed that you were responding to quite a few people, as did others. You are looking to take offence where none was meant. I was offering you an opinion/explanation of why others may have thought it was odd. No one has said you cannot post. Post away!! Post every day!!

Itsthesameoldstory · 19/07/2024 05:05

I must admit I find these responses off certain users bizarre.... Why attack op when the thread was running nicely beforehand and I can't see op has said or done anything wrong... I was enjoying this thread, can we stop de-railing please
Anyway, I have a few stories to share :

My father died in 2021 of covid, he always since I've even been young worn the same aftershave and shortly after his passing, I kept smelling his distinct smell of after shave especially when I had him on my mind and was grieving him... I also was speaking about him with my dh and one of his favourite songs came on the radio... Could just be a good coincidence I suppose but who knows?

Second story is I used to work for 5 yrs in a high street shop that was a bit spooky... in the stock room it felt like you wasnt alone and was always being watched.. sometimes I'd see things out of the corner of my eye and once I saw a man in 70s clothing in the main staff room as I was walking in.. I looked down at something I had in my hand and back up and he vanished.. I wasn't really concentrating on him at first due to having papers in my hand and busy thinking about work, but you know when you look back up again at someone especially as he was wearing out of date clothes, I did that to see he vanished... If I wasn't so pre occupied maybe I'd have had a better longer look at him.. I only saw him the once . I also once had items on a shelf when I was alone one morning just fly off in front of me, that was unnerving as there was no way anyone was there to possibly do it as I was opening up shop alone early one morning .

I'll try to add more later on .

@gotmyknickersinatwist how are my responses strange or stilted? I find you're coming across quite patronising tbh and seem more invested in me and my posts than I am. I'm not the best at communicating due to being neurodivergent as previously explained, so sorry if I'm "stilted" but obviously won't be a pro at replying to people. Rest assured I've been really enjoying all the stories so far, and in other threads people bump theirs all the time. I don't know why you've come for me and been unkind?

Perhaps it’s because you’ve responded 37 times on the same thread. It’s just an opinion from someone. It didn’t seem unkind more an observation. You say yourself you aren’t the best at communicating and now jumped to say people are being unkind. Leave people to their own opinions. I’ve enjoyed the stories as well.

Some write effortlessly and smoothly and others do not.

There's room for everyone on here - as long as they are polite & respectful.

I'm enjoying the thread Tellme - thanks for posting!

Please don't pull it . Loving it . If people want to be skeptical then that's up to them . Until it happens to them .

I'm not sceptical about the stories. I'm cynical about why the thread was started. There's a difference.

I had extremely lucid recurring dreams when I was tiny, like 3 years old, that I remember to this day, and also in my late teens when I was going through some awful family stuff. I remember feeling both times that each had huge significance and had led to something protecting me, or letting me escape from something that could in real life have harmed me. Such a strange feeling!

A few years ago I was sleeping home alone, and I thought I was awake (I'm assuming it was sleep paralysis/night terror, which I've never had before or since), and suddenly a small child appeared and ran around to my side of the bed, which was totally freaky. The little kid was really hazy, almost like a TV with really bad reception. I just stayed awake after that.

My Dad, who died in 2010 and my eldest daughter were very close. He died when she was 17 and moments after he died she thought to stop the time on the watch he was wearing. Some time after I gave the watch to her to keep, she put it away safely in an old glasses case of his in a drawer in her bedroom. A few years later she went travelling on her own for a month. I was delighted for her but worried at the same time. She rang me one day and asked me could I check the glasses case for the watch. When I asked her why she said as she had dropped her room key into her bag, she heard it clink off something. When she looked in her bag to see what it was, it was Dad’s watch! There was no way she had brought it with her for fear of something happening to it. I double checked the glasses case in her room for her as she thought she was going mad and there was no watch there. I like to think it was Dad’s way of keeping an eye on her when she was far from home :)

That's lovely.

I wore my dad's FitBit for a while after he died as it felt like a connection, particularly as he was so into weights, running and fitness.

OiFatArse · 18/07/2024 09:07

Loving this thread some very interesting posts.
Not sure what to think of mine and I don't tell many people because I feel I sound mad tbh 😂 anyway I lost my mum 6 years ago which I still haven't truly come to terms with especially as she was so young. We were extremely close.
On her funeral day a white butterfly came over, obviously didn't think anything of it at the time.
However we then all saw it again at the wake and it stayed for a few hours circling around.
Since then whenever I am upset, really worried about something, or me and my children visit her grave, there is always a white butterfly. I like to believe it is her telling me everything will be ok.

This got a bit more weird a few days ago, myself & my partner are currently trying to conceive, 18 months so far & nothing, now this week I am extremely late for my period so having been testing far too much, getting myself really worked up, upset etc, a few days ago I was sat in the garden crying, trying to pull myself together. The white butterfly flew round over me for a few minutes then went again.
Same the night after, I was sitting out but this time there was a white butterfly and a brown one following it, I lost my brother 5 months ago too, but definitely found some comfort from this even if I do sound mad

Beeinalily · 18/07/2024 08:58

I find it interesting that so many sightings are of children. Do you think it's because they passed before their time?

gotmyknickersinatwist · 18/07/2024 02:59

Oh OP, my post was nothing more than a gentle ribbing, don't take it to heart, there was no negativity or disrespect intended.

I suppose I found many of your posts & responses a little strange or stilted. You also seemed very keen to keep up the momentum of the thread. It didn't seem entirely natural. I enjoy these threads too when they come round but surely you can accept that they run out of steam.

Besides, my glitchy post was genuine & it & your responses have helped keep the thread running.

@MistressoftheDarkSide thank you! I'll take a look at that. I've been listening to paranormal podcasts lately including Uncanny (although I prefered the British based stories, the latest season is US based) and Yvette Fielding's one. I enjoyed reading your stories, that place sounded very active x

@Amybelle88 I can't wait to hear your stories!

OP posts:
Amybelle88 · 17/07/2024 23:02

Placemarking so I remember to come back and write mine - I'm one of 'those' people who this stuff happens to all the time 😂🙄

MistressoftheDarkSide · 17/07/2024 22:47

It's funny but the flat had a really nice atmosphere in general, except from time to time, and even the it wasn't really sinister more unnerving.

With regard to the little boy, yes, it did unnerve me, but more from the point of view that after the fact I realised something weird had happened not during the events. If I hadn't had a son of a similar age and size my answer would probably be quite different though lol x

From a spiritual point of view I try to adopt the thought that fear feeds anything negative or weird, which takes practise for sure but nothing "bad" ever happened and I'm sure it was because we just behaved as if we had (mostly) invisible lodgers.

I think disembodied sounds are definitely the creepiest though.

If you like paranormal shows I recommend a YouTube channel called Ghost Theory. The two guys on it are pretty funny but also serious about their investigations often debunking themselves. However they've caught some pretty interesting stuff, especially in their latest episode 😊

Tellmeyourwoostories · 17/07/2024 22:46

@Makethisrainstop thank you, it's a shame it's started having negativity when it was a nice thread. I'm all for skepticism and understand not everyone will believe, but I do wish people would at least be respectful Hmm

@BirthdayRainbow for goodness sake, they aren't. I am genuinely interested in stories, I am neurodivergent and love and have a big interest in all things unexplained along with being spiritual as I stated earlier. If this thread that started off nicely, is going to turn into some people ruining it with their little theories, I'll ask for the thread to be pulled 🙄

Please don't pull it . Loving it . If people want to be skeptical then that's up to them . Until it happens to them .

Tellmeyourwoostories · 17/07/2024 22:34

@MistressoftheDarkSide wow did you get unnerved at all about seeing the boy, or no? I've heard disembodied footsteps before, too. It really creeps me out and sounds eerie doesn't it? I can understand why you felt uncomfortable
