Sainsbury's vacuum packed mince.

Omg what the hell were they thinking.
Just tried making bolognaise with it. It's direct separate in the same way, and is just big lumps. 😬

I’ve not found any problems with it either. It takes a bit more work to break it up but I would never have ended up with “strands” of mince however I cook it - I’d always simmer for ages to get it all soft and tender.

Packaging. 8 knew I should have gone to Lidl!

Lidl do it too now. I've gone back to the butcher for mince now because the texture is wrong and like a PP said you don't get the nice strands of meat. I hate when mince is lumpy but also when you have to break it into tiny tiny pieces to not have lumps. Horrible memories of the frozen mince DM used to use when I was a child and eating it felt like grainy gravy.

Me too, but we have now used both his legs and one arm and so are running out of options. He can still use the till, but slicing bacon is proving a bit more of a challenge.
May have to find a new (complete) butcher soon...

It's disgusting.

It's not just affecting the texture, but the taste too. Whoever decided to do this must be a vegan.

I wish people could stop buying it full stop, then they'd have to change back.

I agree. Takes a bit more effort to break it up, but tastes fine to me!

It's not great, is it! I chop it with a fork as soon as I put it in a pan to brown so I don't actually get lumps.
Think I need to revert back to buying from the butchers which always had less packaging than Supermarket original type packaging anyway.

Yes, I've actually swapped a lot of my shopping to other places just because of the horrible cat-food-like mince at Sainsbury's. Waitrose manage to have minimal, non-rigid packaging without turning it into meat sludge.

I buy the frozen mince now. So handy to have in and it is nicely minced like pellets. So no big lumps.

I agree it's awful. It's like cat food clumps. Tried it once never again.

I use Aldi and mine have normal packs. Didn't like the look of the Sainsburys stuff and it has awful reviews

I only buy from the butcher. I don't eat red meat, just fish and chicken, so it works out just only a little bit more. For chicken mince the butcher will use only what you request, I prefer breast for mince etc. We eat vegetarian meals for half the week so it really doesn't work out to that much more.

I often walk past the meat aisles at supermarkets and it always looks so grim.

Hate it. Stopped after two attempts and then left sainsbury online for a few reasons but this was one of them. It's disgusting.

I do a chilli or bolognese with this mince in the slow cooker. According to the kids and DH, it's better cooked that way (I don't eat meat) so if I end up buying it, it gets done in the slow cooker

Yes I do this . Weirdly I quite like this mince, my husband likes bolognaise and I like meatballs. With this I get both in one dish 🤣

It's not an improvement. You can't get nice strands of mince in the same way and it's all slimy

@Toddlerteaplease i prefer butcher for mince. hubby sometimes buys it from tesco but it is like bloody string, not mince!!!
