Boss called me an annoying snitch for complaining about my lazy co worker?

Her laziness is affecting my job.

We both clean in a restaraunt. It’s just me and her, no supervisors.
She is extremely lazy, doesn’t do her work, leaves dirt and mess in her area, leaves most of the work to me. Often sits around on her phone. When I show her the mess and dirt she leaves, she rolls her eyes. One time told me « I don’t care, shut up, you are so annoying and you are not my boss, just do it for me, and left »

Management is often angry at us on WhatsApp and often complains about the mess and dirt she leaves. We both get blamed for her lazy horrible cleaning.

I tried speaking to her a million times, she told me she doesn’t care and to stfu.

After 6 months of this and yet another angry complaint hinting they’ll fire us, I had enough and contacted the cleaning company boss, asking him to please speak to her and that the area they were angry about, was hers.

I get this message

She never blames you Kate. We do not blame each other. Snitching is gross behaviour Kate. You are both a team and should work together! You are being an annoying snitch. A tattle tale. Just disgusting behaviour from you. Stop snitching, I don’t want to hear it

Good cleaners are worth their weight in gold. Find a better cleaning company.

CanItReallyBeSo · 17/06/2024 18:33

I'd leave and then post a scathing review once I'd found a other job, one which would make it clear it was from me.

EverythingYouDoIsaBalloon · 17/06/2024 18:30

Also meant to say - 'tattle tale'? Is she 8? Ridiculous behaviour for any adult, let alone someone in management.

EverythingYouDoIsaBalloon · 17/06/2024 18:29

They both sound vile and very unprofessional. Like a pp, I'm wondering if they are friends or otherwise connected.

I realise you might not be able to leave till you've got something else lined up, but if you're not already looking, do! You shouldn't be treated like this at work.

MMUmum · 17/06/2024 18:28

Leave and consult a no win no fee employment lawyer, you have very strong evidence for constructive dismissal.

Whatsmyusername94 · 17/06/2024 18:26

Wow I am more shocked at how unprofessional that cleaning boss is. Wtf?? You need a new job immediately, I couldn’t continue working for them. a lazy co-worker is one thing but a boss that insults you because you’ve had enough of doing her job too is just too much. Hand your notice in ASAP

AGodawfulsmallaffair · 17/06/2024 18:25

Show the correspondence to the restaurant manager. They might keep you, but sack the cleaning company.

MidnightMusing5 · 17/06/2024 18:22

Leave. You deserve better than that.

JLou08 · 17/06/2024 18:22

That response is so unprofessional and your coworker is a lazy CF. Are you sure they're not related or friends?

BucketBouquet · 17/06/2024 18:21

As soon as I could get out, I would - and my resignation letter would make clear that being expected to treat a grown man who uses the word “snitch” with any respect was a key factor.

I’d also be giving serious consideration to what I could smear over the counter tops on my last shift…

Crankymonkey · 17/06/2024 17:38

I’m sure that’s exactly what happened

Kitkat1523 · 17/06/2024 17:37

Find another job asap

FlowersAndFairiesAndPie · 17/06/2024 17:30

Quit

BMW6 · 17/06/2024 17:28

Well I would definitely reply "I quit"

SirenDiMare · 17/06/2024 17:03

I would either:

Look for another job. And, in the meantime, use my phone and do nothing at work - just like your colleague - until they act on their threat of firing me.

Send a message back to the manager with a Fuck You emoji and a "I quit".

Find another job and leave

Absolutely this . What a horrific boss . No decent company would find that response acceptable in any way

Skybluepinky · 17/06/2024 15:50

Get another job.

Find another job and leave

This.

Nothing will ever improve if that's the managers attitude

bombastix · 17/06/2024 15:41

Get another job. You are being exploited by both your boss and the lazy person. Good luck. You will have the motivation to do better.

FloofPaws · 17/06/2024 15:39

Wow! Just find a new job, she's useless and never going to change, that email clearly there's management laziness and incompetence there -- find somewhere that will appreciate your hard work

TheFormidableMrsC · 17/06/2024 15:39

Bloody hell, that's shocking. Either they know eachother outside work or they are related in some way. No reasonable manager behaves like that. Do you belong to a union? Is there HR? Either way, I'd be telling them where to stick their job and find another sharpish. There is always demand for good professional cleaners and you deserve much better than this.

stopthepigeonstopthepigeon · 17/06/2024 15:39

Are you kidding? 😂Just when you think you’ve heard it all.

I guess the most obvious thing to do now would be to get another job.

loudbatperson · 17/06/2024 15:37

Leave, as quick as you can. That response from a manager is unacceptable, as is the current working situation. It won't change so get search hard for something else and get out of there asap.

CrotchetyQuaver · 17/06/2024 15:37

Well they've made their position clear. As a PP said maybe your lazy colleague is connected to them somehow?
I'd leave, maybe set up your own cleaning business.

rainfordays · 17/06/2024 15:37

Ha! Tell your "manager" that their lack of willingness to manage their employees is just disgusting and you don't want to hear it...and leave.
